Trump bars people from 7 countries entering the US

Way better than boris or dutch. One comment doesn't equal hundreds imo.

Pah. One statement or hundreds, doesn't matter. Ignorant statements are ignorant statements, no matter the amount. She's intelligent enough to know this, and to clarify her statement.

I disagree. I think someone who makes one ignorant comment is a better poster than someone who makes hundreds.

I think we have all made some poor posts before yet I don't think everyone is on the same level of crappy posting as dutch and boris.

Agree to disagree I guess.

JazzGal, please expound on your "plenty of white males..." comment. Because at this point, you're no better than Boris or Dutch.

My comment said white Americans, not white males. I have no idea what percentage of people would like to see all people of color removed from the country as I have not taken a poll on the subject. But I read comments on news articles that express these ideas, and they aren't written by just one or two. Plus I have people in my family who feel that way, and I have friends of color who have had those opinions spoken to their faces. I do not believe that it is a majority of people, silent or otherwise.

It's too bad you do not like the quality of my posts, but I am what I am. I was only speaking based on my personal experiences and observations, and I stand by my statement.

What is it that you disagree with?

No way to know how many would prefer such an arrangement. From my own experience, specially living in the South, I suspect it's higher than 1%. Probably more than 5%. But who knows? /shrug

In the people I deal with and encounter in real life there is certainly a higher % than that against Muslims. It is quite vocal and numerous. In fact it appears to be growing in volume and frequency. Worries me.

I see that far more than everything else combined.

Key issue is the word "many". You're attacking a group of people, grouped and based on color. I find that ignorant, harmful, and lazy. So, what do you define as many? 5%? 25%? 50? I'd like to know your definition of "many".

I have a very hard time believing a few million people truly wish America was solely white. Are there some? Of course. But even if it is say 5%, that's such a low number overall that it has an incredibly limited impact as a whole.

As for what people say, I'd like to believe everybody, but we see articles daily on people caught lying about attacks based on race, religion, etc...perhaps naive, but I'll continue to be skeptical. And cmon...I live in redneckville Montana. I know maybe one person who thinks this way. Maybe. I think people are trying to create issues where there aren't any, and we have more important things to deal with.

In my early 20s, I used to idealize Western Europe, and specially Scandinavia. I was talking one day with a Norwegian dude, and I mentioned how wonderfully tolerant Scandinavians are, specially when it came to "race". He looked at me like I'm crazy and said "nobody is outwardly racist when everyone around him looks the same. Just wait until a few % of the population is non-white, and I bet you half of us would flock to the neo-Nazis".

I think there is some truth to that. I haven't encountered much racism in Utah in my 15 years living here. But is that, maybe, because it's 90% white? I suspect it is the same in Montana.

Then again, exposure to others can also make you more tolerant. So I don't know. My original idea may have some explanatory power in some contexts. Or maybe not.

I do not retort much to these childish concerns or roll around in your mud much, but fwiw I consider your closed minded always have a opinion followed by statements that you know nothing on a subject an begging for education to be one of the worst subtraction from forum content.

How do you take this liberty to be forum police when your posts are nothing more then you not knowing anything about anything yet you have this desire to play thought police.

5% is a LOW number? That's like one in every 20 people. I think the U.S. population is around 320 million, so 5% would be about 16 million.

Even if it's just 1%, that's still sizable. And since folks tend to associate with (and live in proximity to) others who are like-minded, that means the voting power of that 1% can skew things politically.

TBH, I think being Mormon plays into that. How much so I am not sure. But the large drive to push the church and sending missionaries all over tends to help break down those attitudes. Missionaries come back with language skills and a love (in most cases) for another culture or at least parts of it.

The racist people in my life are Mormon. I don't know that their religion plays a big part in it, although I suspect it does to a certain extent. I think that it is more a product of limited education and little exposure to other races and cultures.

There might be some truth to that. People in Utah (in my experience) are less racist about black people or Middle Eastern people but very racist about Hispanic people. Fact is there are very few minorities from most groups in Utah except Hispanic.

I would say that you are very lucky if you do not have people in your life that have a racist worldview.

I was disputing that the racist among us are a majority, and I never said they have a huge impact. I believe that there are some who would prefer a racial cleansing of the country. I used the word "plenty" because I believe more than one is too many. But like Moe says, 1% would be several million, and I do not believe that is the case. But I believe that the number would be at least in the thousands. I figure that I know of at least two in my immediate family alone, and I really doubt they are the only ones in the city (or even in my extended family).

As for attacking a whole group of people, I didn't say anything that could even be remotely considered as attacking. I said that there are people that would like America to be solely inhabited by white people, and obviously that means white Americans. Perhaps there are people of color who would like all people of color to be removed from the USA, but that seems like a silly argument to me.

I'm sure I make statements that are ignorant, harmful and lazy at times. I do not think that disqualifies me from having a voice. I do my best to stick to topics, try to avoid conspiracy thinking, read from both sides of the political spectrum, and I do not attack other posters on a personal level. I am frustrated and anxious about the country at present, and I will continue to express my opinions as I see fit.

are they racist or are they just against Barbaric primitive non liberty minded cultures?
the right wing people i know are not racist,. they do feel that some cultures are superior to others.

on the other hand just like throughout history the left is racist to this day

so they probably didn't serve a mission, right? or if they did, it was somewhere with people similar to their own background - - because I tend to agree with what Stoked said about it being a bit of an eye-opening experience that would lead to increase tolerance and appreciation for different cultures

Yes, 5% is a low number. Several million obviously seems high, but 5% is a low number.

One did not serve a mission, and the other did to a European country.

Its crazy how ok its become to generalize white people and generally just be racist towards them. Its down right bizarre how big of a double standard there is. If you try to say anything about another race as a group you are automatically labeled a racist Nazi bigot. Which is just a another racist slur. But completely ok cause its against white people.

It amazing that so many people actually think this is just going to go over so smoothly with everyone. Sure, there are growing number of beta male cucks out there, but still many who arent just going to roll over and let racists walk over them
