Jazz @ Pelicans Game Thread

The one when the either the shot clock or game clock was about to expire and he drove hard at cunningham and was kind of stumbling and then just did some weird running hook over his shoulder when he couldn't really see the hoop and it was from an angle where he couldn't use glass and it somehow went in.... And the funny thing is that i wasn't surprised to see it go in. Its what he does.
Its routine.

At this point i dont think he will ever be the player i though he would be but i think thats ok. He seems to accept his role, has a great attitude, is really really fun to watch, loves the game of basketball, and is even learning how to play defense and pick his spots on offense better.
I'll take it.
It's sad that fanzers here still thinks he doesn't play within or hinders the offense
Whiteside was drafted in 2010 long before DL was here.

The Carroll loss bothered me though he's shown to be fairly underwhelming.

We don't know what offers were out there for Millsap and getting something involving contracts back to meet the 125% CBA salary stipulation wouldn't have necessarily not only not been a good thing. It may have been a bad thing. Sometimes, unfortunately, the best move is no move.

He said Whithead. The guy we drafted in the last draft and sold him to the nets for cash. Having a good rookie season.

Agree 100% He is the dude who quin should be focusing the most on getting rest for imo.

Based on our current health, I'd like to see something like

Hill-31 minutes, Exum-17 minutes
Burks-24 minutes, Ingles-24 minutes
Hayward-33 minutes, Ingles-5 minutes, Johnson-10 minutes
Favors-18 minutes, Diaw-6 minutes, Lyles-10 minutes, Johnson-14 minutes
Gobert-31 minutes, Diaw-6 minutes, Favors-11 minutes

Not that I was ever a Ty Corbin fan, but it's not like DL gave him any bench. Lindsey wanted Ty out and set him up to fail. That was a train wreck of a team the final year. I doubt even Pops could have coaxed 5 more wins out of them.

Ya he was a great head coach after leaving the jazz.........

Just want you to know that seattle was being sarcastic and making fun of others who said burks hurts the jazz. Seattle is one of burks biggest homers.

Actually, I don't want Favors playing 29 minutes so I'd have to change that...24 seems about right for him right now.

His wild layups can be very bad for our team when he doesnt make them.

They didn't want 5 more wins, They wanted some development and defensive game planning. They got neither.

They just stole the soul out of the Pelicans in the 2nd half.

One complaint I have about Quin, though it's not many, is why he doesn't play the scrubs way earlier. The Jazz were up 30+ points with 6 minutes left, on the first game of a back to back. Does he really think that a Withey/Lyles/Mack/Neto/Whoever lineup would lose them the game at that point?

Other than that, what can you say. I loved Exum's game today, but hell, who can you really complain about tonight. It was nice for them to not cover Joe Johnson at all either.
Yep, I kept asking myself why are there any main rotation guys left on the floor.

Not only would it be wise to get the main guys some rest and injury prevention but it would seem like it would also be a good idea to get neto, withey, mack etc some playing time just in case and just to throw them a bone for busting their buts in practice to make the main guys better.

I don't even fully blame him for this. He still had heavy involvement from KOC and Corbin at that time. DL fully took the reigns the following year.
Not only that but it was not a negative. That team needed to change, Millsap and Carroll would have seriously changed the dynamic going forward. I can't see those as negative moves.

Plus, it looks like Mack, Withey and Neto could all be shopped here at the deadline. Give me a lineup of Neto, Mack, Jingles, Diaw/Lyles and Withey and see if any of them improve their stock. I understand not letting your foot off the glass, but there could be major positives for getting them some minutes in garbage time.

Considering the cost of keeping them. . . I still think that retaining both guys and building around Favors, Millsap, Hayward and Burks would have been a fine reload. Just not under Corbin. Jazz lucked into Gobert and (probably) would have still gotten Hood (but not Exum) if they'd retained those two. I'm not unhappy about the direction of the rebuild, but I believe in team building through value free agents and well scouted draft picks. Millsap and Carroll (and Bazemore the next year and Lin the year after) were all value guys I'd have tried to sign. Just my personal opinion.

I'm sure it's been discussed, but what a great game Dante had. Also, screw your Cy for never texting me back. That drive, to spin move, to pass...omg. What a freaking great pass. Dante has excellent vision. He's attacking a bit more, and it's better, but he's still attacking without a plan. His shot is looking a. It more fluid, more natural, which I like. But his vision...man alive.

I have to keep reminding myself that in terms of basketball development, he's still a baby learning to crawl. His physical ability is there. His basketball IQ is improving. His strength and confidence are growing. I definitely want to re-sign George Hill, but I love Dante's potential for down the road as the starting PG for this team. I just want Quin to continue to make him earn it.
