What's new

Sources: Utah has expressed interest in re-acquring Deron Williams

I'm going to guess that the deal is Deron Williams and Andrew Bogut for a first-round pick, a second-round pick and maybe a player or two going back to Dallas.

You mean, like Diaw and Mack and picks for Williams and Bogut?

yup so what is the point doing this if they're both gonna go after the end of the year ? Would like both those players for the rest of the year but beyond that why do we do it ?
Financial flexibility. We have a bunch of players we need to sign to big money contracts. Or we can use the cap space to attract a free agent replacement if someone doesn't stay. Or some combination of the two.

D-Will could be re-signed easily, the dude still lives here. Not sure if the Jazz would want to do that though because of Exum long-term, but who knows. Dwill could always be the 2-guard.

Overall, idk, I just know D-Will is better than Burks.

that's what i meant, i don't doubt we'd be able to re-sign DW, it's just more what is our plan and how much do we want to pay him if we do/limit Exum's time etc.

Totally love the idea of him on the Jazz again tho, it's just the logistics

Depends on what they'd have to give up. If they did it, it's because they still have some concern about keeping Hayward. Getting past the first round this year I'm sure would give DL a lot more piece of mind in regards to keeping Hayward and Hill.

Are the Jazz just man crushing on any player with the last name Williams ? What's Marvin saying these days?

If this goes through, I worry about two things. One, Hayward. I feel like he's a fragile soul. Not that it still won't be his team or anything but I just worry about him worrying about Deron looking over his shoulder and the chemistry and all. Two, Exum. Do we ever want to see this kid develop? Next year is year four for God's sake.

Still though...

Hill-Deron-Exum
Hood-Burks
Hayward-Ingles
Favors-JJ-Lyles
Gobert-Diaw-Withey

That's a helluva a 13 guys.

Our bench should kill teams.

Marc Stein tomorrow:
After losing out on both Lou Williams and Deron Williams, the Utah Jazz have targeted Serena Williams.

Good point.

If Hayward resents this what then?

I don't think there's any worries as far as Hayward goes, he's a big boy.

I'd actually see this as a pretty decent indicator / backup plan they're not confident of keeping Hill ?? Deron / Exum for the next few years would work as plan B
