What's new

Sources: Utah has expressed interest in re-acquring Deron Williams

Uhh, so he wants Utah to mortgage draft picks this year to sign half year rentals? I think Hayward is smart enough to realize the Jazz best opportunity to win are the next 2-4 years, not this year.

The hell you talking about? Mortgage draft picks? We sell that **** by the dozens on draft night. Would not have cost anything to get a half year and playoff rental of D-Will. I bet Mavs would have done Mack for D-Will straight up... saves them some money.

Costs us no draft picks to claim him now.

If he has all of those guys at 100% then sure... By all accounts Favs won't be able to get right until offseason. Hood has a knee issue, Hill has a toe issue...

Why does Lebron want extra help when he has Kyrie, Love, and a host of good role players... because he knows **** happens and you have to be ready.

It would have cost us nothing except hurt feelings from Dante or AB... It's not just this one instance its a collection of instances... Living at the salary floor... not the cap... the god damn floor likely doesn't show your commitment to winning now. Which is what Hayward cares about.

I for one would not blame Hayward for leaving.

It cost us more than "hurt feelings". It cost minutes to players the Jazz want to develop.

@cappy smurf

I guess we have to keep kicking the can down the road to that point where the Millers spend NBA-style money.

Just wait... one year we will pay luxury tax... not this year... not next year but soon. So much luxury tax... Millers likely have to sell all dealerships just to foot the bill. You wait.

And Hayward said the Jazz have talked to him about the moves they were looking the past few days. He is informed and has some sort of input.

Or HE will realize that HE is effing good and HE didn't get support from his teammates and that made HIM lose because HE plays a team sport.

HE would also realize that other teams make moves to maximize their chances of success and that if HE wants more success HE should pack HIS bags.

Hayward will stay. The Jazz can give him a bigger contract than anyone. If he does walk we're better off in my opinion. This team lacks an offensive talent that can take over games. I fail to see how we find that guy with Hayward on the max, Gobert making 20 mill+ per and Hill being re-signed. But that's what will happen. Hayward and Hill will stay and we'll likely be stuck in a situation where we can make the playoffs consistently but can't win championships. Then we'll rebuild again.

This was the time to make a big move before we have to pay Hayward and Hill. While we still have cap room. And DL sits on his hands.

And other thing we may not know: Deron might want to go to Cleveland over Utah. Do you really want to pick up Deron if he isnt 100% invested in Utah and w/e role we would want for him?

Dante has lost minutes to Mack this year... Diaw plays way more than he should and hurts Lyles development.

I think we may have overestimated Dante's progress based on his play in some garbage time games.

Now when winning matters most we decide that getting a starting level player at an important position of need. That could help cover injuries at the two spot... But yeah those development minutes doe.

He has a no-trade clause... so if he didn't want to come he could state it then...

If he isn't interested in it now I doubt he will be next year.

Good riddance. Would have been nice for depth, but honestly, he wouldn't have done much for us. He's always injured and is a shell of his former self. He has looked pretty mediocre in the games I have watched this year.

I agree on Hayward, but am not sold on Hill. We could offer him like $13M this year and 3 years at 20-25 right now. I imagine we have thrown that offer out, but he wants to be a free agent... why? If you like it here and we can give you near what your max will be then why not take that.

He flashes the crossover once in a blue moon. If I was a Deron fan (I'm team CP3) I'd want him to go to Cleveland to try and win a ring.. It'd just be a reunion tour in Utah..

I really wanted D-Will because he is my favorite player of all time. I can understand why the Jazz wouldn't want to add him though. This time is super important to develop Exum as much as possible and the same with Burks, who can still be a huge asset.

Because he could get more money. He has been underpaid his entire career.

What if he wants to come to Utah in teh future? If he publicly stated "I dont want to go to Utah" that is a terrible and short sighted PR move. Think.

If you forgot, the dude still lives here. Not wise to piss off the fan base if he doesnt have to.

Exum has earned his minutes back. Exum has played better and improved every month this season. He is playing his best basketball this month even in important games. He is finally getting back to full strength from his ACL. He will continue on the track he has been all season of improving and getting back to full strength. Although he might not be all the way recovered until next season but this month has been promising. In February he has been shooting 53% and playing good defense. Any game he has gotten over 20 minutes he has scored at least 10 points. He was our best player against the Clippers when everyone else **** the bed.

He has told multiple people he wants to come back here at some point. Right now probably lying isn't the right time, maybe this off-season. Or next though.

Sure, but does he want to come back over goign to the Cavs for a year to chase a title?

Is there a reason why the Jazz can't just claim him off waivers if the want him?

They have cap space and his prorated contract can't be that much.
