Oh my ****ing god!!! Are we really talking these three!!? Jazzfanz has lost their collective mind!!

Where to begin?

1. Faves is better then Jones, and Lyles soon will be as well, I hope, but won't happen with jones around, also Jones can't shoot worth beens.

2. Someone said Bogut would be an upgrade to Withy. This may be true, but he's old and as likely to miss 60+ games next year as he is to be better then Withy. No thanks.

3. Do I really have to talk about this assbutt!!? He's been as injured as Hill. Williams is a starter and won't be happy coming off the bench, he has a surly attitude as it is what if midway through the season he feels he should start over Hill. This would cause division in the locker room. Also, getting Williams, does this mean we are giving up on Exum?

Just stop!!

They're all on expiring contracts. The only reason I'd want them is to finish out the last 25 games this year and maybe (hopefully) contribute in the playoffs. If nothing else, they can help to take minutes so Gobert, Favors and Hill can enter the postseason (more) healthy. I'd claim Bogut and Williams off waivers, pay their prorated salaries to finish the year and then let them leave in free agency (or come back cheap next year). If the Jazz can get more production out of them than either Withey or Mack. . . it's a no-brainer to me. Always look to get better whenever you can. They don't likely do it. . . but it's what I would do. No long term commitment necessary.

1. We know that. It enables playing Favors less to better recover.

2. Help me find where people were talking about having Bogut around next year.

3. Deron injured a lot? Well it's a good thing we wouldn't rely on him all the time. The problem is we rely on Hill being healthy. When he goes out with a toe or a finger, we're not looking too hot. Between the two of them one should be healthy more than not.

We've got a bit more than $4M before we hit the salary floor. If we don't spend that, we dish out a little less than $300k to each player. I'm sure they'd like that. But it would make sense to at least out offers in on Bogut and Deron.

Yep indeed looks like he is favoring the Cavs though

Who cares? It's professional sports. The Jazz aren't in business to make anyone feel good. It's about winning. If Deron Williams and Andrew Bogut help them win games, then you pick them up off waivers and then waive the two guys outside the rotation - Shelvin Mack and Jeff Withey (who, for the record, I happen to like) and let the Cavs, Spurs and Rockets pursue them.

Nothing better than forcing people to be on your team who dont want to be on your team, that usually works out well.

It also sends out a great message to Hayward. Maybe Gordon didn't want DWill back. Maybe he wanted DL to keep his little buddy, Shelvin. You do EVERYTHING to keep Gordon happy. Because if he signs, Hill may too. If he doesn't, Hill is most certainly gone.

No, I really doubt it had anything to do with that. I think Hayward is grown man. It's a ridiculous assertion to suggest Hayward is crying about how Dwill didnt love and embrace him for the half year they spent together.

Best Guess: Utah just wanted to get on the phone with his agent/Dwill to talk about how he would feel signing with Utah in the future, a year from now, 2, etc. Teams like to stay in touch with players/agents and this was a great opportunity to through the guise of a trade deal (the player's current team has to allow you to talk to player otherwise it would be tampering I believe). Maybe Utah told him something along the lines of if we cant work out a deal with Hill because his agent is expecting a huge deal this off-season, or if Exum doesnt work out next year, etc. Who knows, could be anything.

That, or it really was just a smoke screen by Dallas to try and get something out of Cleveland in a trade, but Cleveland didnt fall for it.

Or D-Will said he would rather not come to Utah, for whatever reason, could be lack of playing time/wanting to play on better contender, and Utah respects his wishes and doesnt want to force him to play for current Utah team.

All in all if Utah really wanted, they could get him. So that means, as of right now, they really dont want him. You can think it's about the stigma of D-Will w/ Hayward and the franchise, and that might be true (to a very small extent), but I doubt that is the main reason. They like what Exum has shown the past couple of weeks and they dont want to take minutes from him. People say "oh cut Burks minutes" and I want to echo that, but as the same time we have to recognize Burks is coming off some major injuries and he needs time to get into the swing of things. It would be unfair and rash to just give up on him when he has finally starting to be consistently healthy.

If no one claims Jones and his character issues aren't a big concern I think he'd be the best non-dwill addition.

I would add him but only if I could get a second year team option... offer him 4.2 (the amount we are under the floor and it's prorated so it's only 1.4 in cash out) second year team option for 4.5M.

He's not made a ton in his career so the extra cash this year is significant. Deal actually saves the Jazz 3M. They can use that money to acquire second round picks now that they have an exponentially increased value. If jones fits we get him for an extra year at a discounted price. If not we cut him with no consequences.

We cut withey... will miss you big fella...

Scratch that... if you pick up a waived player you can get their whole cap number against your cap space. If you sign them only the prorated portion counts. Could still do it, but the money savings aren't as significant to us.

I think we may end up picking someone up off waivers though... depends on how much the team values Withey's potential contributions the next 25 games. Claiming Bogut and waiving Withey saves us a million dollars roughly.
