Ok.LETS ****ING DO THIS
Ok.
I put in a vacation request for that Sunday so my employer won't be able to force me into work on that sunday.
I will talk to gameface about poker that Saturday night.
I will ask him.Interesting, would he be up for a bunch of new Jazzfanerz coming to his place?
Fifth water shouldn't have snow at the end of April. I've kayaked sixth water with no snow in March before, and that is just barely higher. This is a crazy year though. Lots of weird weather.
If it's bad, we could always mob down and meet peeks at Kanarra creek. But that's a long drive.
My neck of the woods huh?
Yeah but you aren't invited. #nomodsclub #justkidding
Way wrong.
So many awesome places to hike in slc. In fact I think even better than down south but I prefer elevation, lush forests, rivers and lakes, and wildlife so I'm biased to the Wasatch front mountains. Big and little cottonwood canyon, Ogden canyon, provo canyon, timpanogas, the list goes on and on.
Just checked. Gyp has spring break from the 14th till the 23rd, so he should be here on the Saturday too, barring something extreme.
Like alt said, that early in the year it would be hard to do because of snow but like naos said snow shoes help with that issue.I want a killer sense of achievement. Like a 8,000+ foot hike we start at 4:30am and make it back to the car by 9pm. Something that sounds unachievable.
Possible?

Really will depend some on what the weather does between now and then.
I have a perfect hike for what you want but I'm pretty certain it will be covered in snow.
Have you done the hike of which you speak?
How long did it take you? What's its length and max elevation? Could your badass dog come with us?
Hide yo wife hide yo kidsYou're allowed in the states?

My wife, dog, and I tried it one year in late april. We made it about 4.5 miles I reckon and had to turn back cause the trail basically turned into a river due to all the snowmelt (spring runoff) I would have kept going but the wife was not up to it. There was a ton of water coming down the mountain onto the trail the whole way and we must have crossed about 20 little rivers. Eventually it got to the point that the whole trail was a river.
Its probably not quite as tough as you are looking for but its plenty tough for me and I want to survive it. Plus Im not sure how much high elevation hiking you have done but once you get up over about 8.000 feet it really starts to take a toll on you. This particular hike starts somewhere around 8,000 feet probably and finishes somewhere around 11,000-12,000 feet I think.
Its about 15 miles one way with about a 3500 foot elevation increase. We would probably want to take two vehicles and park one at the end (top) of the trail and one at the beginning (bottom). Beautiful hike around multiple lakes and rivers. Pretty isolated and not heavily trafficked. Kinda dangerous in the sense that many people get lost on the trail as you get near the peak of it and the trail kind of disappears (i have never made it this far and only read about it) in loose rock and you often have to navigate by compass/map.
whether we do it or not would all depend on the amount of snow. I would take a drive up around the area a week prior to your arrival and scope it out and see if I think its do-able.
