What's new

Jazz @ Thunder (1pm MT) Game Thread

Apparently Rudy is important to this team. Who knew.

Props to the deep bench for actually showing up today. Bolomboy has earned a few minutes, though I doubt he'll ever get them.

I think my problem with the call is that it was only clear path because it's Westbrook and his known speed. What if that was Joe Ingles in the same situation, clear path called?

The clear path rules are pretty simple. If a player from the other team is further down the court than you it's not a clear path.

It's like one of the most straight-forward calls in the NBA. If the refs aren't sure the replay should be pretty damn conclusive.

You want a win but wont put the starters back in down by 6??? I'd be pissed if I was Hayward, any game up for grabs your #1 option and ALLSTAR should be in the game.

Perhaps he should have played worth a **** before then.

Quin was right in playing the bench until the bitter end. They earned it.

Haven't got time to watch the game on league pass, looks like Dante has played the best game of his career, will have to watch it tomorrow cause its Sunday arvo and I have to go to the pub for a beer.

Withey makes less than a million per. Withey was signed as an end of the bench FA.

Yeah OK and your point is? So then who did we sign as our backup center? You'll probably say Favors but the reality is that Favors is only used because Withey is sooo bad and would not be MIA so much if we could use him only as a PF.

dude Favors is the no.1 choice as alternate C for his rim protection. (although this year not happening)

Had to work how did Bolomboy look?
Not very good for the most part but not any worse than our backup bigs have looked for most of the season.... in fact I would even say he was better than our backup bigs usually are.

Yet they still got it wrong. Burks was quite a bit further down the court than westbrook.

I missed the game but he was 4-7 FG(0-1 3pt.), 2 REB, 1 AST and 1 TO in 14 min.

That seems decent. How'd he look defensively?

Not very good. Made some glaring mistakes.
But he is a 2nd round pick rookie who never plays.

I felt like he did good if you consider that.

Bolomboy didn't look good out there by any stretch.. I wouldn't hesitate to draft a seemingly similar player like Cameron Oliver and let them fight for the spot.

Some things we learned...

-Withey is nothing special. Ive thought this for a while now Bolomboy gives us more.
-Lyles is having a huge soph. slump. He can't defend, or rebound. He is an offensive player with no offense right now.
-If Goberts is ever unavailable again please don't put Diaw with Lyles or Withey. It's like string cheese. Pointless line up.
-Exum has turned a sharp corner, and the hype train is filling up quickly. His speed and explosiveness are starting to be used.
-Hood is so streaky. If he can ever become consistent he's a borderline all-star.
-Glad we stuck with the backups at the end. They played better, and competed. Bolomboy made some plays, and some mistakes. I believe he gives us more than Lyles or Withey right now.

Just wanted to add that Burks has been rebounding like a beast lately. I dont know what his rebounds per 36 are (or maybe rebound rate or some other stat that im unfamiliar with) but i would bet that it is shockingly good for a guard in recent games. He has really been crashing the boards.
So far in march:
Against minnesota: 27 minutes, 7 rebounds.
Brooklyn game: 22 minutes, 6 rebounds.
kings game: 15 minutes, 3 rebounds.
Pelicans: 16 minutes, 8 rebounds.
Rockets: 14 minutes, 4 rebounds.
Thunder: 23 minutes, 7 rebounds.

Nice to see him hitting the three ball yesterday too (made 3-5 from three)

He is averaging a career low in minutes per game this season. (15)

I tried to figure his rebounds per 36 for the month of march based on these numbers.
This is what I came up with. (Might not be correct)
He is averaging 19.5 minutes per game in march. Averaging 5.8 rebounds per game.
36 minutes divided by 19.5 (mpg) equals 1.8.
1.8 × 5.8 (rebounds per game) = 10.4 10.4 rebounds per 36 minutes.
