What's new

The Albums/Concerts Thread of 2011

The new Foo Fighters Album is pretty damn good. The Foo leaked it on their website today... some of it sounds a lot like Nirvana.

GZA/Genius from the Wu-Tang Clan visited Edmonton; it was a pretty small venue and he didnt treat it too seriously sadly, sorta dissapointed actually. Raekwon opened for him who was very solid though.

I feel like im the only person who actually listens to hiphop on jazzfanz.

False.

I'm a big fan of Kenny Pest or whatever his name is. I like that one stronger song.

Some good tracks, but sounds pretty forgettable overall. Like One By One.

Too bad. I'm pretty sure the Foo Fighters are my favorite active rock band in a sparse field.

Just finalized the details for a Missoula trip on May 26th to see the Foo Fighters with Motorhead! It's going to be epic. Me and my posse will be hitting the streets of Missoula Hangover style.

I'm going to that concert... should be tight. I'm still trying to track down some reasonable floor tickets.

The surprise A+ live show of the music festival was Ghostland Observatory: a band I had previously never heard of. Would highly recommend if they swing through your area.

New Foo is officially mediocre. Made the rookie mistake of making the first 30 seconds the best part of the album.

Arcade Fire was good, you missed out YB. Local Natives were awesome too, met them after, they are all about 5' 6'' and look like highschool kids.

Got to see Craig Ventresco a couple of weeks back...along with his side kick Meredith Axelrod. Man, oh, man. What a show.

As much as I would have liked to see them, unfortunately I would not have been able to attend the show even if it was across the street from my house. I'm glad it was a good show and hopefully they come back and play somewhere other than Utah County.

Seems a bit harsh. I thought it was their best work so far this century.

Huh. I've given it a few more listens, and I love "Bridges Burning," rather like "I Should Have Known" and "Walk," and find most of the rest tolerable, but it's just not grown on me that much overall. Any other tracks that really stuck you to the other listeners in here?

And just to lay my cards on the table, I'm one of those pansies that really liked Echoes Silence Patience and Grace.
