Looking Forward

This is my first post on this forum. I am a pretty size-able Jazz fan, and have been ever since I can remember. This has (and continues to be) a tough year for the Jazz faithful...

Looking forward for the Jazz, I see light up ahead. Al Jefferson has the potential to be a formidable star in the league. With Millsap not far behind - along with a developing Favors - Jazz fans might be in for years and years of solid bigs.

With that said: What are the general thoughts on CJ Miles? When does his contract expire? Are we expecting to re-up with him when the timing is right?

What are the chances that we keep Kirilenko around? I would love to see the Jazz show him the road (though I am a big fan, honestly).

Can Okur really be our C solution for the long term (4 years or more)? Could he really stay healthy if the Jazz want to keep him around?

If we can get a solid 1-2 and/or 2-3 guy in this draft, things could start looking up - really, really quickly.

God bless the Jazz.

I think Memo's future with the Jazz or even as a professional basketball player is in doubt. He may never recover. It's hard to say because we haven't been adequately informed. Maybe the drs are not even sure.

AK definitely is a goner. He has been a disappointment. If he could shoot to compensate for his diminishing athleticism then he would be worth keeping, but he needs to move on.

Price, Fesenko, and hopefully, Bell are goners.

I would keep CJ. The guy has a lot of ability and he seems to be getting a little better each year. His problem is consistency.

My hope:

PG - Harris
Price gone. I wouldn't mind Watkins back, but I doubt he stays
SG - Hayward/Bell
CJ gone. I know a lot of people hate Bell, and I hate it when he plays, but he is the only veteran on this team that knows how to work hard. I think his example on the team and tough defense 10-15 mins a game could be invaluable.
SF - Evans
AK gone. I hope above all hope that AK is gone. I don't care about next year. Do we really want to sign him for 4-5 years just so next year we win 10 more games? I say no. Let him walk, take our lumps and lets build this thing right.
PF - Jefferson/Millsap/Favors
C - Memo

Let everyone else walk. That leaves the Jazz with 8 players. Add in a draft pick or two and sign 2-3 more scrappy players and lets see if one of them will turn into a valuable bench player. Hope we hit the lottery big time next year, with Memo's money add some valuable vets and in 2-3 years we are contenders again.

you want Bell but not CJ and you want Evans to be a starting wing player. Hello lottery next year!

I'd like to have Kirilenko back, as he is so unique when healthy. Everyone's issue with him has been his contract and not living up to it. That contract is done and a more reasonable one could be had. If he is gone though that would be a huge confidence boost for Miles and Hayward as they would get those minutes. I hope CJ takes this summer seriously and develops his game further. He should be Corey Maggette with a better outside shot. He sould attack the basket and get to the line like Maggette did 3-4 years ago.

God bless the Jazz.

No offense but if you're seriously asking some of the questions you have here, you're not a size-able Jazz fan. You're utterly clueless.

Also, God doesn't care about the Jazz. Otherwise, we'd have rings by now.

Your Jazz-fan-hood clearly outshines mine, Killa, but your understanding of the term "size-able" is lacking a bit.

He Must be a Laker fan :)

Seriously Ak> Evans; Miles> Bell. Plus, I think Utah can sign Ak if hes willing, to a cheap deal. And we could turn that into another asset, such as a lotto pick? Or package an AK with a deal like 3-4 yrs at 7-8 mill with Bell to a team looking to add a vet that can still play, on a reasonable deal. For some youth and a pick.

And I like Evans but hes not a starter and I like the idea of adding or trading for a sf. Maybe Gallenari or Casspi.

No, I don't think it is.
Wow. Two posts in, and I have somehow attracted the fan police. If I am "utterly clueless," and I might be... Shouldn't I be posting harmless questions in a free public forum (as opposed to making factual statements of little substance)? It's a damn shame that there isn't a place to ask questions about the Jazz without having a know-it-all jump in - somehow simultaneously adding little substance to the conversation (or questions) at hand. You'd think that such an informed forum member would respond with some answers (or substantive comments), especially if that member has made over 4,000 comments in less than a year. Good Lord, Killer, you are truly a despicable animal.

Although your understanding of the term "size-able" may (or may not) be up to snuff, your ability to comprehend simple exclamations suffers...

"God bless the Jazz" doesn't imply that God HAS blessed the Jazz. The phrase is a beckoning, implying that - in the beckoner's (if that is a word...) mind - the Jazz need the blessings of the Almighty. Similarly, "God bless America" doesn't imply that God HAS blessed America. It implies that the conveyor of sentiment desires the blessings of the Almighty on America.

Over 4,000 posts and you are still a socially retarded know-it-all that, in fact, knows and contributes nothing of substance.

Yer just mad he is 1000 times more productive than you.

I misspoke. I don't want Evans to start, he is all we would have. One of the four players we picked up would have to start for us. Overall, I think Bell may be more valuable than CJ. They both are atrocious offensively. Bell gives you hope that he can become more consistent as a backup. CJ will never be consistent. Bell has won in the NBA. CJ hasn't. Bell knows what it takes to win and play defense. CJ doesn't.

Sorry if this is disjointed. Trying to use a phone.

Bell gives you hope he can BECOME more consistent? At his age he will get worse not better. Bell's defense this year was worse than anybody else on the team. CJ has been to about as many WCF's as Bell has. Bell has never been farther in the playoffs than CJ.

Basically none of your reason's for choosing Bell over CJ hold an ounce of water. Bell's just plain terrible, injury prone and old. Further more Bell is a bad attitude on the court and tends to throw other player's under the bus when things are not going well. Bell on a team that plans on being competitive may work. Bell on a rebuilding team with young player's that will struggle is a very bad idea.
