Trumpcare makes things worse

More bad news on Trumpcare.

14 million Americans would lose coverage next year. By 2026, there would be 24 million more Americans without insurance. Millions given in tax breaks to insurance ceos. Many of those hardest hit will be Donald supporters. Is this really what they want?

The GOP had 7 years to come up with an alternative. Is this really the best they can do?

"We're going to have insurance for everybody"— Donald Trump, Washington Post interview, 01/15/2017

I pay just under $1200 a month for health insurance. Last year, we had three annual Dr's visits for my three kids.

We paid roughly $5,000 an exam.

Holy ****
Your monthly insurance payment is almost double my monthly mortgage payment.

My parents have retired. My dad is on Medicare. My mom isn't there yet. My parents insurance had run out a few years back. So right now my mom pays around $600 dollars per month for a $5,000 dollar premium. Even Obamacare doesn't offer her many attractive options.

She has almost no medical history either. The woman runs 10 miles almost everyday. Imagine if she had a long history of medical bills? How much more would her premiums be???

Back to the whole transportation thing premiums are like roads and airports. Copays are like fuel and tickets.

Through my work if I add my wife/family, my premium is almost $1,200 a month, and that is with a $8000 deductible. Lotta old ****ers at my work driving up the costs.

There is no way I would buy health insurance for that much.

Do they have a health savings account? I would opt for that, or at the very least just create your own savings account and pay 1/2 or 1/3 of the premiums to it and use that to pay for health care.

I do not use more than $1200/yr in health care. I know that one simple thing can change all that and anything catastrophic makes any amount I could save look like pennies, but I'd be willing to go bankrupt in that case rather than forfeit so much of my income.

I pay something like $65/wk for excellent health coverage with I think a $200 deductible. I don't even really know because I don't pay attention because I don't usually even meet that deductible.

**** man, it takes one visit to hit a $200 deductible.

/I'm exaggerating

But seriously, where are you getting a plan with a $200 deductible for that cheap? I'm paying over $500/mo for a $2750 deductible.

Not a fan of the budget specifics I have hear about. Not at all.

Cuts to medical research
HUD
HEAT
Dramatically increasing defense spending

pfft

Yeah, the defense spending is just plain old dumb. We already spend the most by far and we have the most capability by far. Who are we worried about that we need to increase defense spending by 10%? That increase, in and of itself, will account for more military spending than all but maybe 1 or two other countries. It is pure insanity, but it plays into the outlook of his voters. People who think America has gone to pieces and is on the verge of collapse and destruction. You know, the people who think illegal immigration is out of control, even though we've had net neutral illegal immigration over the last 10 years. And the same people who believe there are cities in the U.S. that are, despite the U.S. Constitution, under Sharia law.

Has anyone seen Trump's proposed budget for 2018? It's ****ing ridiculous. America continues to become even more of a war for profit military state. It's disgusting how corrupt and stupid our country is when it comes to how much military contractors control politicians.

The U.S. military could actually get this increase without it being an actual increase. Do not increase the defense budget but pull out of a bunch of the hundreds of military bases, remove redundancy, focus military research projects, leave Afghanistan...all the money spent on that is now free to refocus in things like the VA and tech upgrades.

But doing this increase at the cost of neutering low income programs (HEAT, HUD, legal representation), medical research, environmental protections...idiotic. Especially when it hurts the areas that voted for him.

I hate this budget over all. At least what I know of it.

yes we are the problem, the people who do not want to be forced into paying more taxes. or into healthcare programs. the people who wanna be left alone!

Huh? Most of the right makes very, very little and is most likely not paying taxes anyways. As for the rest, all we are asking those people to do is to get off welfare...corporate welfare.

Do what you say you do and fend for yourself. Stop asking the government for handouts in the forms of tax breaks.

It's pretty simple stuff. Pay what you owe, like everyone else.

But, for whatever reason, it's ok for the top to get welfare, but not anyone else.

Imagine how much we could lower taxes overall if people like Romney and Buffett were paying 29% federal taxes, instead of 13-15%. We could probably eliminate all federal taxes for people making under $50,000 a year, which would allow them extra money for health care, food, housing, which would ease the burden on the social safety net.

What a weird idea, right?

Just think, if we didn't give the 20 million to the Millers, we could have told almost 9,000 households in Utah making $50,000 that they didn't have to pay any taxes this year.

Imagine all the good they could have done with that extra $2300?

The economy would explode.

Just got to get all these rich people off welfare.

I lean more towards blaming corruption. Politicians spend so much timing drumming of fear of Islam just so they can justify lining the pockets of military contractors.

I hear the radio news. Sounds crazy the media only covers the nickle and dime issues like this. I expect Trump to clean house and save a trillion dollars a year on cutting waste of all kinds. Govt should not have any of these special interest programs, anyway.

I've been taking a course on the Constitution, and there's only three kinds of spending Congress is authorized to do. One is defense, national defense. No disbursements to special groups/classes/causes at all. I think that's the way we should go. No income tax, either.

Considered as our founders saw it, an income tax or sales tax would be a "tariff" on domestic production, so they authorized a customs office to collect tariffs on imports instead. "General welfare" clause included things only related to national welfare, or the benefit of the federal institutions necessary for a strong nation. Stuff like diplomatic offices overseas, courts concerned with federal laws, maybe roads and canals to make business possible with transportation.

We have private charities, and people willing to help out generally, and it's a shame we turn all that into entitlement programs without human compassion in play in our communities.

The whole idea with a Constitutional Republic is to keep govt from becoming overbearing and protect us in our rights. For sure, it was not intended to make tariffs on imports prohibitive, just enough to keep a small and efficient Federal govt running.

As things are, we are being made dependent, and being taken off the land and corralled into urban centers far from food and fuel resources.... metropolitan "reservations" or "plantations" so to speak, where we can be managed by our superiors the better-paid federal employees or "herd managers". Look at how the blacks have fared in these corrals, and how the native Americans have fared on their reservations under direct federal socialist management. That is what is intended to become the future for all Americans.

We have the progressives out in public speaking in favor of such ideas, if you know where to listen. Not that our media will tell you about it.
