Not enough cap space because of cap holds...
Deron won't be expensive and there are sign and trades... we could also trade Favs or Burks and take back little or no salary. It would not take much to clear the space.

Depends... it wouldn't just be for cap space... it'd be a pick and space. Was just saying you could move salary... not that it's the only thing you'd get.
And if the space gets you an NBA player that plays games and blocks shots and can spread the floor and plays games...
Meanwhile, we'd watch a recovered Favors PLAYING GAMES for another team and killing it.
Favors is a very good NBA player. We trade him low and we will regret it.
If we can get Favors healthy we can keep the #1 defense in the NBA right here for many years to come. That's not worth anything to you guys? Seriously?
I get the frustration. But put your emotions aside and look at the player we have. We're not going to get equal value in return.
I'd give up Lyles and Burks. Three headed monster with Favors off the bench. All playing 30 minutes or more. Tighten up the rotation.

I'm hoping we extend Hayward (30M next year), re-sign Hill (say 23M next year--I think that's possible), reup Ingles at about 8M per, keep Diaw, and fill out the roster with our three first rounders.
The LT would be around 122M and that would put us around 130M but if we impress even a little bit in the playoffs this season, I am hoping that is the route we take and go all-in. Our roster would be sick. And we will have JJ and Favors coming off the books the following year. Burks will only have one more year after that left. There are certainly ways we can shape the roster to stay just above the LT or even come under it after paying the LT for a year or two. As we've done before I might add.

Not necessarily. It wouldn't just be for cap space. It would be for cap space + pick(s) and/or young players on cheaper contracts. How the deal ended up for us would depend on how the cap flexibility was utilized and how the assets gained panned out (or were used in future trades).
23 million for Hill? No thanks. We only have two first rounders btw. I'm not a fan of approaching the luxury tax at this point in time. We aren't where we need to be to be perennial championship contenders yet. We're missing one big piece, an all star level scorer next to Hayward and Gobert to take the team to the next level. I don't think that guy is Hill or Favors. The Jazz need to keep as close to the cap as possible (preferably below it) for as long as they can until that guy can be found.

I am looking forward to see what DL is able to do this off season. Deron may end up being a better option than Hill due to the cost and if Exum can take another step forward. This is the off season Exum can really analyze his game and have a healthy body to work on his deficiencies. Hayward and Rudy are good examples of what a focused off season can do.
As for Favs, it may be best to show some loyalty and allow him to get healthy. JJ has shown he can be a solid back up 4 and starter when needed. The 4 position could really become a strength next season if they decide to stand pat.

Hill - is the biggest question mark this offseason. Does he bolt for the money or give a discount to stay with buddy Hayward and a playoff team.
Exum - hopefully will be fun to watch next year and if the offseason work that gobert and Hayward does rubs off on Dante he could be a decent piece.
Neto - what ever not a key piece
Mack - gone
Hood - should continue to work on his body and conditioning she could get better
Burks - I would expect to get traded. I like him and he could fit into the offence but his salary might be the easiest to move.
Hayward - I expect to re-sign in Utah because we can offer the most. With Rudy they are 1 serious piece away.
Ingles - I expect to sign back with Utah and at a slight discount. He is good friends with Hayward and I think he likes being here.
JJ - I think likes it here and he has 1 more year left. I wouldn't mind seeing him retire a jazz man but at less then the 10 million he makes now.
Favors - is a wild card in this discussion as he lives Utah and likes living here. His health problems are not career ending and he can get better. The question is what does he feel he is worth and can he develop a 3 pointer?
Lyles - I wouldn't be surprised if he is gone this offseason as his lack of rebounding and defense doesn't fit the culture the jazz are developing. If he is not gone this offseason is vital to him. He must get stronger and more consistent.
Bolomboy - I think the jazz like what they see from him and he could push Lyles out. Seriously like what he brings to the jazz. He could also be a solid center back up.
Diaw - if he is back it will be at a steep discount otherwise he is replaceable. If he got in better shape he could add a few more years to his career.
Gobert - will have a statue out front with Karl and John some day. He needs to get better foot work and just 1 go-to move.

It may be a decent question, but a better question is if anyone besides Favors or Gobert can really play center. He can rebound with the best of them. He's athletic to match up with any small ball center. The only problem would be playing against legit big guys, of which there aren't a lot of. So yeah, I'd play him at center.
We're definitely not getting one if we go over the tax this soon. We're going to struggle just to retain the players we develop if we go over the tax this fast. But,if we stay close to the salary cap we definitely CAN acquire an all star level scorer via trade or FA.
But we already have the number one defense in the NBA with Favors being replaced by three different players that don't really rebound or defend well?

In
Favors is part of the reason we have a good defense this season. He has played most of the games this season. Our 2 most used 5 man lineups include him. In our 2 man lineups our defense rating is better when Gobert plays with Favors than Diaw, Lyle's or JJ. He also adds a lot of value to our defense as the backup center. Our defense would be worse this season if we didn't have Favors even on one leg.
