Gordon Hayward - "I think it's definitely cool when guys play their whole career in one city."

I gotta wonder if Hayward is even worth the max. I mean he's our best and leading scorer, who takes the most shots, and has the most plays run for him, and the most screens set for him - .

Hayward is smth to be proud of as a leader when it comes to usage rates. You are describing Russell Westbrook and Hayward is the exact opposite. Actually he should use the ball a lot more sometimes. He is too generous.

Here are the usage stats for the Jazz, Thunder and Celtics. Check them out and tell me how does Boston option feel after that:

Not the sharpest tool in the shed here.

Hayward is Boston Bound.

You don't know what ya got till it's gone...

Actually I bet he stays in Utah, with Rudy Gobert - Hayward gets the ball in his hands and gets to make assists. With Isaiah Thomas, Hayward gets regulated to spot up jump shooter while he watches Isaiah dribble.

I wasn't implying that Hayward shoots too much. He does need to try and take over more, I'm just not sure he has that killer instinct to take over a game when necessary. Point being, Gobert seems to have more of that instinct than Gordon. Gobert seems to take over games more often too - even offensively - and he didn't demand the max. If Hayward does stay in Utah (which I think he does), he really should give the Jazz a hometown discount (which I hope he does).

Agree that he has not met his ceiling in confidence yet. He needs to remember every game and every moment that when he goes hard towards the hoop he will bump the defender hard if he tries to defend him. He is stronger now. He should use contacts more when shots are not falling. He is a Supersaiyan trapped in a Chandler Parson's body. But I doubt he gives discount if there is no significant reason to do it like keeping one or a few absolute contenders on the team.

I partially agree and disagree with this. I think Hayward shows the killer instinct sometimes, but other times he doesn't have it. I'm really interested to see what he's like in a close game in the playoffs, we've never seen him in that situation before.

Plot twist. Jazz go to WCSF this postseason. Jazz trade for Paul George before free agency begins. Gordon Hayward is in awe with Utah's ballsy move and re-signs for a robust, yet affordable deal. Chris Paul all of a sudden wants to go ring chasing and signs for the MLE. Blake Griffin then demands to be traded to the Jazz.

The Jazz then give into the players choice and unveil the mountain jerseys as the primary jersey for the 2017-2018 season as Utah wreaks havoc through the West going 74-8.

Championship season.

Great but missing parts. GSW, OKC and the Spurs come to the conclusion that the Jazz are so awesome so they trade Curry, Durant, Klay, Russ and Kawhi to the Jazz for Boris, PGAB, Melotjk, Boler and Harpring since they think they do not deserve them. Then the franchise starts giving away daily rations of churros to every Jazzfan in da world.

But we forgot the ultimate kicker. Joe Ingles, MVP.

I put Haywards chances at staying around 75%. He's worth the max but he's not such a guarantee that a long term deal is seen as a limitation to his earnings. Don't think he will try and get the megamax all NBA contract.

Boston is obviously a good option for him if he leaves and the Stevens thing is probably the most appealing part of that equation. Who is their second best player though? Third? Fourth? And are they better than Rudy Gobert? Are they going to be as good for as long as Rudy is? Draft picks are cool but I doubt it factors into the equation for Hayward at all... he's watched the #5 pick in an "amazing" draft struggle. No guarantees whoever else they get won't do the same.

If Boston drafts Fultz or Ball you think IT is going to be a happy camper next year... he is eligible for an extension and has been underpaid his whole career... not sure he is going to mentor his replacement. If you factor in all the uncertainty I think we are still his best chance to win outside of being a ring chaser.

Hayward has stated many times he wants to win.

With Boston he can get to the FINALS, probably next year. Not happening in the West.

I realize the Jazz can offer more cash but he is already set for life and generations with money so it's all about winning.

The $$$ gap will close a little with better endorsement deals in Boston.

I hope he does not, but if I am a betting man he will.

Why is this opinion that the Celtics give him a better shot to win so prevalent around the internet? I don't understand it. The Celtics are in the same position as the Jazz. Pretty much one star away from the next step of chasing championships every year. Both have cap space and assets to find that star. So why leave? Would you rather play with an aging Al Horford and IT (who only has 1 year left on his contract) or with a young beast in Rudy and give the Jazz time to find or develop that third guy? The Jazz give him just as much of a chance to win. And probably a larger window to win.

only 43 players played their entire career for 1 team. 3 of em are utah players(stockton, eaton and darryl griffith

probably after this seaosn nowitzki, manu en parker and maybe udonis haslem will join that list!

this is hard to accomplish so not counting on hayward staying!

rudy seems like the kinda player that would stay!

They probably have more good players than us, but Gobert is so unique. Low usage high effectiveness... more than willing to do all the dirty work. IT is kind of the opposite of that. Brown might be good... their pick might be good but I doubt either becomes as good as Rudy. If they flipped their draft assets for a star then approached Hayward I could see it. Their cap situation will likely prevent that order of operations.

Dark horse is Miami. Riley is a warlock and I imagine the whole city smell like coconut oil... not sure mr. And mrs. Hayward are about that life though.

I thought the trade deadline rumors where interesting for Boston as they were rumored to be after George and or Butler.

Don't think they would have enough to sign Hayward after absorbing their contracts.

Miami basically has everyone off their books except Whiteside, Dragic, Johnson and Winslow. I would think a large portion of their cap will go toward keeping Waiters though. Is Bosh still counting against their cap?
