What's new

2016 NBA Season Notes/Info

Reports have been for a while, since Portland started to stumble, that they're gonna do everything intheir power to cut costs this summer (specifically to unload Evan Turner)

I'd imagine that will be somewhat difficult. Who really wants Evan Turner? They will have to part with some draft picks, I'd assume, to move him and free up cap-space. Maybe get Brooklyn to eat that contract in exchange for the Memphis and Cleveland pick this year?

Trade Crabbe back to Brooklyn's plus a pick is a good idea, didn't they sign him but Portland matched?

Also news out of NY is it seems Carmelo is resigned to the fact that he might get traded in the offseason.

I've been looking forward to this, hopefully they blow that team up and start fresh. They have a nice draft pick this year, another player to pair with Porzingis. Hopefully they rebuild it the right way this time round.

They need some young blood to buy into the triangle if they're to succeed with Phil.

Perhaps thats why Portland wanted the pick.. so they can help clear space.. Philly can eat the deal no problems if the price is right..

It's not like he's total deadweight like an Asik, he's just vastly overpaid.

Early this season there were Nuggets staffers that told reporters that everyone in the organization is disappointed in Nurkic, because they asked him to lose weight over last summer and he didn't comply. He went full crybaby mode when it was clear last season that Jokic was the superior prospect and that he'd be stuck behind him if he didn't transform himself in a way that made him compatible to Jokic. If he was intentionally forcing Denver's hand and tanking his trade value, then good for him. I'll evaluate the trade once he's there for a while.
Comparing the trade based on 1 head to head matchup is pretty stupid as well. If the emotional Bosnian bear can be assed for 1 game against his former team against which he holds a grudge, this doesn't mean he's always gonna be that way.
His game splits are already infected by a high variance despite him being extra motivated to prove doubters wrong.

Now we'll do another thought experiment. What if Denver misses the playoffs because they handed Portland Nurkic. If Jokic now loses a babytooth the night before the lottery, putts it below his pillow and Denver proceeds to win a top3 pick, isn't Denver the automatic winner of the trade because a top3 pick in this draft is probably gonna be a better player than either Plumlee, Nurkic and Memphis' #20 pick?
Patience young Jedi.
Even if they don't win and get a #13-14 pick instead of the #18 pick. It's possible that this difference in this deep draft can also make a difference between getting the guy whose upside you like and selecting from leftovers. There are more variables to consider to evaluate this trade down the road.

I'll make a screenshot of this memorable day where Cy and I are agreeing on something. I'll print it, frame it and hang it above my toilet.

So uhh this is a Franky Ice story.. I'm just gonna post it here instead of make some thread.. Jazz/Hayward related tho..

Pat Riley's luck in free agency has run out in recent seasons, but there's growing speculation he could target Utah Jazz swingman Gordon Hayward this summer.

Frank Isola of the New York Daily News reported there are "whispers" Hayward may wind up in Miami if he does not re-sign with the Jazz.

Hayward, 27, is set to become an unrestricted free agent in July. He is in the midst of a career-best season, averaging 21.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game on the way to making his first All-Star team.

Riley has a home court advantage because Miami is a prime free agent destination. The weather, the zero state income tax and the chance to play for a top franchise are too good for a lot of players to turn down. There are already whispers that if Utah can’t re-sign Gordon Hayward he could end up in Miami.

If utah can't re-sign hayward.

They can though.
