Biggest wiz game so far

George Hill and Derrick Favors are out for this game. Wall will have an easier time on offense. Hill torched us last time from deep and Favors bullied our bigs. Feeling optimistic about this one.

If there's ever a game where Gortat could rehabilitate himself this is the one. The Jazz bigs took the Wizards soul in the last game, let's see if Gortat can find something to challenge the Jazz bigs in this one.

Well, I'm just glad we don't have to see this team in the playoffs. They would sweep us like it was nothing.

Similar to last game, Utah just completely shuts down the Wizards offense. Doubt anything changes

I've got a bad feeling about this game. Gobert is a really bad matchup for this squad.

Have to keep attacking Gobert can't be intimidated. We won't win relying on jumpers

Our usual first quarter defense is holding them to 3-3 shooting.

Wall needs to put their PG's in early foul trouble thats the only chance we can win. Scouting reports failed again. Hood is hot fire

Bench playing amazing!

Is Exum good at anything besides being tall and active?
• Crazy firs step

Gortat is trying to isolate on Gobert? Is he high or just an irrational confidence guy? Come back the other way and he dunks in his face.

Absolutely a joke if Gobert doesn't get DPOY. He could average 0 points and 0 rebounds a game and still be an absolute stud.

Man thank god this dude Gobert plays in the West This is why I dont wanna face Whiteside + Heat in the playoffs. (Rudy is a lot higher bball IQ than Whiteside though)

John need to cuss everybody out at halftime. Utah diving for loose balls and hustling they *** off, Washington is more talented then them. Beal shooting that bs instead of going at Gobert, this **** is starting to get old for this team to be going through motions like this.

Wall with an awful close-out on Exum. 2nd time nobody has closed out on Exum.

I guess what CP3 said about Gobert being a big talker is true.

this is a physical team. You have to man up if you want to win this game. Otherwise, we can pack it up and get ready for the playoffs. They are letting them play physical. So, you have to speed up the game and attack. That’s how you have to win this game. It will be difficult to come out in a lower scoring game like this.

OK, Gobert's on my list of hated players

That was amazing by Wall. Can't believe he got all ball! (This was on the play where he wacked Rudy in the nuts!)

This Utah team is too good for us to do clown **** like that.

I envy the Jazz. Must be nice to be able to do anything you want and not get called for fouls.

WE couldn't get calls when we played Utah at home. That’s when John called the Jazz "nobodies".

Gobert is f***ing ridiculous straight defensive anchor

as amazing as Gobert is playing And I’m not trying to take away from… it has to be borderline illegal D the way he stays occupying the lane

having gobert anchor your defense must be nice

Gobert talks shiete in French probably. Sacre bleu!!!! All Frenchmen are losers.

The more I watch the Jazz the less impressed I am. They just get very favorable referring.

That looked clean to me. Hayward is a great transition defender

Refs aren't gonna call the billions of moving screens on the Jazz? Of course not.

Wizards pick and roll defense the last 4 minutes, cringe.

Never has a 3 point deficit felt so massive.

Jazz get trash touch foul calls on one end, Wizards can't get calls on swipes across the forearm on the other.

Just came to say. eat a fat dick, refs

Morris is shooting like 2-10000000 from the field in this game.

is hayward the only player in the nba to increase his attractiveness every year for six years?

obviously Gobert is a DPOY potential player. but him never getting called on anything definitely helps

Did Gordon fix his hair after the foul...LOL...

Exum got wall with the Wall move

Don't get it. Kieff playing scared against Gobert.

Yes, lets have morris stretch out Gobert with bricked long 2s. Genius.

Gobert straight up pushes people out of the way. No call.

OMG Boggs you just got punked by old man Ingles

Did Joe Ingles just cross up Bogey?

Utah is talking hard and playing hard we look soft out there. Our team doesn’t like contact and seems to be complaining and sulking far too often.

You see how gortat just watching the play...he is frustrated with himself...sad

OMG, we can't let 1,000 year old Joe Johnson and cast-off Shelvin Mack destroy us.

How can both Hil and Neto be out for Jazz with (matching?) "groin injuries".

were lucky there missing so many shots lol

someone like gobert is exactly what every team needs at center

i cant even imagine how scary we would be if we had a player like gobert

Its Hayward time...Wall time and Beal time..

Brooks getting out coached tonight . Simply cannot figure out these Jazz lineups in both games this season

Are these ref Mormons?

Kieff acting like he's paralyzed. Another Gobert shove. Twisted ankle. He'll live.

We cant stop Hayward and we cant get a foul...

Gobert is dirty as f***. Ph*** Gobert. I seriously hate French people.

Sigh....we never had control of this game. 4 point deficit looks like it's a mountain the way we're playing.

Both Gordon Blocks on John and Kieff. The Gobert travel in the 1st, and then the no call offensive foul. That's an 8 point swing right there. Unbelievable game.

I mean, what in the actuak ****, how is that not a foul on Hayward??? Comes over the back, smacks Morris across the neck to get to the ball, its absurd.

F*** these refs and f*** these Utah fans. Edit: this comment was before they applauded for the children with autism

Hayward lookin like Derozan with those tight 2s

Never liked big dudes who have an ego. Like nice block man, congrats, youre 7'3.

Man, the Jazz are like, the opposite of the Wizards.

Why do I not like gobert
• He gets a bit of a halo effect from his defensive reputation. Blocked shots where he makes contact with wrists are considered clean. Also lightning bolt hair.
• cause hes good

Man I hate playing the Jazz :/

F***ing ******** *** officiating tonight. Blatant *** charges, blatant foul calls missed, that f***ing review on Beal where they didn't f***ing look at the angle that showed Beal was in...********. Also, Wall learning how to shoot was fun while it lasted. Holy ****.

Jazz seem like the better coached team for sure.

I gotta give credit to the stifling Jazz defense (especially Gobert).

Positives: Oubre's hustle on defense, Beal's shooting for most of the night, and Gortat tipping rebounds back out to save possessions Negatives: Wall and Morris shooting a combined 8 of 35, late game execution

Loss is on Wall. Utah's defense was in his head all night and he couldn't adjust his game

Also put this one on Brooks for not figuring out better lineups.

Is this what playing defense looks like? Holding a team under 100? If it is, i dont like it...give me a 110 to 115 shoot out with Wall and Beal going off...over this slow agonizing defeat

Snyder is such a good coach. Utah's FO has done more then us with a lot less. Kudos to em.

I'm not a Brooks' hater like some on this board but this was not one of his better moments. It started with going small with Kieff against Gobert at center? Really? I wouldn't have done that with the February Kieff when he could actually make 3-pointers. That would be fine if Withey was in. But Gobert won this game with his defense and Hayward won as the closer after not playing well early. Otto had a nice stretch on offense for about 3 minutes and that was it. When he's not hustling and getting loose balls, he can't just go on his talent. Brooks needed to get Oubre in late for D and Mahinimi as well. Taking them out was fine but not bringing them back in a few minutes later was idiotic.

I don't hate mormons. Just don't know anything, at all, about Utah besides Mormons. Take that as you will.

Utah is the one team that can match our starters head to head and completely stonewall them, not even Cleveland or GS plays us this well. They get benefit of the doubt from refs too because of their playing style, they've really got that whole "physical defensive team" archetype down pat.*

I've been to Utah a few times. Really beautiful state, some very nice people. Couldn't find any jazz clubs.

They just dropped confetti at the game? Are you f***ing serious? I guess when you live in such a miserable state with miserable people, you gotta celebrate the little things (apologies to all Utah residents in advance).

John just blamed the refs for the loss on TV. He's gonna be fined by the league tomorrow.

The*Wizards*shot only 40.2 percent from the field and had more turnovers (14) than assists (12) as they lost a sloppy, grind-it-out affair in Utah on Friday night, 95-88.

Silver lining: we held a West Coast team under 100

Unless they somehow get to the Finals, don’t really see how our performance against them is relevant. Only even remotely similar player to Gobert in the East is Whiteside, and the Heat as a whole are much, much worse than Utah.

Boston ain't **** compared to this Utah team at least in terms of how they matchup with us

Utah is a unique team, somewhat like Boston, in that they’re so disciplined and play very hard and very physically. I agree they’re a tough team to beat, especially when they’re at home. That said, I want to see the Wiz come out super aggressive and angry and I didn’t see that tonight. Refs made life really hard, though.

Unfortunately, they still couldn’t figure out how to run their offense with*Rudy Gobert*on the floor. Even though he only blocked three shots, his stellar protection of the paint prevented the Wizards from creating open looks and allowed other*Jazz*defenders to jump in and get steals when Washington hesitated on drives.

A couple things about the game
1.*F*** THESE*REFS*JEEZ
2. Dont understand scott going small with gobert in the game
3. Im glad jazz are in the west they are just a tough matchup for the wizards*
4. I want me a rudy gobert dudes a beast defensively

WOW John Wall spitting hot fire at the refs "the refs made us lose this game"

Gobert in them craniums.
Jazz Ballin out. Tasty tears.

#wishweplayedintheeast.

This is one of the games I had very few complaints about the refs, and actually thought the Jazz got the benefit on some calls. I can see why their fans were upset.

No doubt imo.

I feel like I can be pretty unbiased (probably not really but I think we all like to give ourselves the benefit of the doubt) and we definitely got favored tonight. I belive it's called "home coooking" and it's nice to taste it once in a while.

Seems kinda rare to me. I could be wrong and biased but I don't think I am.

Unfair reffing should always be complained about, and we had A LOT of calls that favored us when they shouldn't. Hayward chase downs and gobert charge against gortat (maybe a flop?) not called. This game was completely slanted towards jazz, let's be serious. Refs gifted this one to the jazz. It happens sometimes, it's basketball.

Ehh, we still would have won. Wizards got some calls too.

The way that calls can change momentum? It's more than the points that get deleted or added. If you play solid defense, but whenever you make your best move (that isn't a foul) you get called for a foul, now you have three fouls before halftime and you're a pivotal player, the effect is more than the free throws made off those calls. It's all the times you can't make you're best move. It's all the times you now have to adjust your game to make sure you don't get that next call. It's how you're not playing in rhythm now. You're out of sync. You're game looks ugly. Etc.

Refs are more influential than they should be in basketball. I'm not sure there is a fix, but as a lifelong Jazz fan I know that ref bias can be deadly.

I agree. I never ever complain about the refs, and I understand that they are not out to get any particular team, so I try to stay objective about it. But for the past month or two, I've noticed that he Jazz have been getting the benefit of doubt much more often than in the past. I rarely now feel that the Jazz were disfavored by the refs. I think what the guy in the quotes said is right. The Jazz are now established as a top team with elite defense, so the refs seem to approach their play with a different mentality.

The refs let Rudy get away with a lot. I still feel like Hayward gets boned a decent amount tho.

Hopefully the Jazz are beginning to benefit from a reputation as a good defensive team to the point where we get advantages like this. For years we've suffered on the other end of those calls. The Spurs for instance have gotten the benefit of the doubt for years on the reputation of their defense. I remember a playoff game against the Spurs back in the DWill/Booz era against the Spurs, may have been 07? Anyway, they got away with murder the whole game while we got called for every Manu and Parker drive and flop.

Is there a single fan base in the NBA that actually feels that the Jazz have more talent than them? Seriously, why in God's Green Earth would a Bullets fan think that they have more "talent" than us? We have more talent with Favors and Hill sitting down.

Newsflash, chumps. Joe Ingles is better than more than half of the members of your squad. This is true for all but a handful of teams.

Also, when Rudy turns you into a jumpshooting team, you aren't "getting calls." Well, unless you are James Harden.

I add one :

"I usually root for Utah against anyone else, but both games this year left a bad taste. Guess it's the small market underexposure that makes them innocent and fun until they beat your team? "

And praise the Lord for that. Hopefully we become Spurs favored over the next decade. They're def not la or Boston, big-time superstar tram but imo the refs love em and call a lot of games in their favor. Prob a combination of being nice guys and their rep they've garnered over the years.
