What's new

President Assad gasses and Donald fiddles

What in your opinion should the U.S. do? What would be the proper response?

I agree that the situation in Syria is horrible and it doesn't yet seem that the Trump administration has a coherent strategy. But I'd really like to know what you think we should do.

But I also agree that Obama is tremendously at fault. Probably more than any other single thing I despise him for what he did (or didn't do) in Syria and Iraq.

Where did Syria get these weapons? Why is Assad using them? Who is supporting Assad? It's time to stop kissing Up to Putin and reinstate severe sanctions on Russia. They're the ones empowering Assad.

It's time to let the refugees in.

It's time to beef up a coalition of Sunni nations in the western part of the ME to pressure Assad.

Tweeting about obama and then going golfing again in Florida doesn't help anything.

Yup, kind of like how Bush got blamed for everything. Politics.

On the Syrian angle of the thread. I'm not in favor of going after Assad and fighting Syrian, Lebanese, Iranian and Russian forces. I'm not.

IMO, the primary focus of America's involvement in Syria should be brokering an agreement between Turkey and the Kurds.

Wasn't Iraq his mess? Wasn't his response to Katrina underwhelming? I guess the bank bailouts were ok and his being blamed for the recession weren't justified. But the bailouts without more accountability was inexcusable

Oh, and what of the torture? He still to this day hasn't received sufficient blame for superseding the Geneva Convention and instating black sites where combatants were held illegally and indefinitely to be tortured at will by Egyptians and Jordanians.

But you are a cheerleader for Sadam. Your hypocrisy knows only the bounds of total blind fealty to the DNC.

Who's sadam? Oh you meant saddam? Saddam had been sufficiently punished imo after his chemical warfare used in the late 80s. Or are you suggesting the 2003 invasion was punishment for what he did in the 80s before our first invasion of Iraq? Try and keep up with me dear, I do know my history and you clearly don't.

Look, getting rid of him and attempting to install democracy in Iraq has opened up violence that has completely spread across to Syria.

If the Hussein family was still in charge none of this in Syria would be happening today. The rebels that Assad is killing is ISIS, our creation thanks to the Iraqi invasion. Had we never invaded, Zarqawi would've never been able to set up shop in Iraq.

I'm going out to dinner but I'll take a glance later. Sounds like missiles were just launched.

I suggest many of you watch this to gain just a basic understanding of this issue. It's got some really good information and it's quick

Any more lame *** posts for me to shred? I'm going out to dinner but I'll take a glance later. I'll try and respond to one or two of them if I have time.

Around 60 Tomahawk missiles were just launched into Syria targeting an air base and some chemical weapons storage facilities. How are you going to spin this to make it look bad on Trump and Republicans? We are all eagerly awaiting your typical partisan responses.

On a personal note, you are by far the worst poster on this message board. I truly feel bad for any children that get sentenced to your classroom because you will undoubtedly push your political agenda on them rather than teaching them like you should be. I'm sure you can't help but inject your political persuasion into any lesson that allows you such leeway. You recently disrespected someone that served in the military in a foreign war on here just because you disagreed with said war. That disgusted me and I held my tongue. I shouldn't have. In posting this I will probably receive an infraction or a banning. I probably deserve either. So be it. I've said what I have to and I am done with anything Thriller related. Goodbye.

Lol. I don't understand why some of you think insulting me changes anything I do. It's truly puzzling. It's a damn message board where none of us will personally meet and most of you wouldn't dare say these things to anyone's face. It's truly hilarious to see how many of you take these things so personally and think that personally insulting me affects me one bit. I'm truly confident in my ability to teach. I know most of you talk big through the Internet. I know most of you haven't read anything on these issues and couldn't find Syria on a map even if you life depended on it. I'm healthy feel good. And the local university where I'm doing my work currently seems satisfied. I make a lot more than most of you right now. My wife and I are comfortable on the east side of the valley.

So why would I give a **** what you think? It is interesting that rather than refute the facts you resort to personal insults. I guess that's all you have left when beaten down intellectually.

Bush is a republican. So we all know the answer to this.

Seriously do you really think there is a difference? Throughout the English speaking world the actual differences between to major political parties is negligible (Northern Ireland aside).

I recommend Sven Lindquist's A History of Bombing and Exterminate All the Brutes.

This was fine until you made the comment about making a lot more than others here. I'm not sure what your income has to do with any of this. Are you implying one's wealth is proof of one's intelligence, success, or value?

I actually agree with a lot of what you've said in this thread, but in my opinion you are very off base here. The 2003 invasion was "punishment" for Saddam not adhering to the terms of the original Gulf War's cease fire agreement in 1991 and defying many UN resolutions thereafter. Prime among those was not allowing inspectors to fully verify that he had no WMDs. That is, it wasn't punishment at all, but simply a necessity to ensure he wasn't making/didn't have WMDs (which he was pretending he had, and unfortunately for him he managed to convince a lot of people of). At least that's how I saw it as I lived through it as a 33 year old.

Absolutely not. Look at Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton, or Donald trump. Some of the richest people are also some of the dumbest.

My father never made much money but he is the wisest and most educated person I know.

What I was emphasizing was how little petty insults on the Internet matter to me. As I'm satisfied in all facets of my life. If I was some middle school kid with self esteem issues? Sure, I guess I'd care what someone I've never met with a goofy avatar says about me on a message board. But not when you're 31 years old, have a successful career, happy marriage, safe and clean house, etc.

It's also truly puzzling why you are so insulting to others. I guess life is a mystery.

This board has become increasingly conservative and less intellectual over the years, don't you think? We've seen so many good posters leave never to be replaced. You know im right. Seattle jazz, Pearl, S2M, nerd, Austin collie's cousin, etc.

I'm sure this sounds insulting to others but it doesn't make it any less true. I've never claimed to say the popular thing, but the right thing.

That still doesn't explain your need to throw in the "petty insult" about the money you make. Moreover, I think it's good to take a look in the mirror and criticisms that come one's way, constructive or not. If they're overwhelmingly one-sided, well then, said person should strongly re-evaluate their approach and tone with people and/or perspective on certain issues.

Just my two cents.

Less intellectual probably. More conservative? I haven't noticed that so much.

But either way you can say "the right thing" in ways that are respectful to others who don't share those views, right? Why not let the logic of your positions convince them instead of driving them away with your tone?

So this story takes a massive turn and y'all decide to start talking about insults...

The Seal strike into Yemen and now the cruise missile attack into Syria. Will Trump showing his willingness to use military might cause other nations, like Iran and Russia, second guess some of their decisions?

I'd think so.

So do you really think that obama and George soros organized this?

Nope, i don't really claim to know much about all that. Which i hazard a guess is only marginally less than you actually really know from sitting in your ivory tower reading and "educating yourself"
You're consistently the most self righteous pompous bag of wind i've read on any messageboard. Get out into the real world. Run a business. Employ people. Take responsibility for something other than your narrow little world. Pull your head out of your rear. Then you can tell other people what life is about.

Just one dickhead.

and you know and understand sooooo little about basketball.
