What's new

Only 4 of 29 ESPN writers say Gobert is DPOY

I think rudy is the DPOY, i will add this question what do you reckon the jazz's record would be without him?

35 tops. 51 wins minus Rudy's 14.3 win shares. You also have to factor in that we rely heavily on defense because our offense isn't great. And you have to factor in injuries. Favors was out over 30 games. That leaves us with Diaw, JJ, Withey, Lyles and Bolomboy in the paint. 35 wins tops. More likely 25-30.

Rudy will prove it in the playoffs. Rudy put it best, his defense puts all 5 opposing players on notice. Once you see his gravity there is no doubt how special he is.

**** em.

Rudy should win it. Green is a decent choice. Kawhi is a pretty bad choice this season though, not in the same class as the other two. Davis would probably be third on my ballot.

When you dawn a Utah Jazz jersey you must embrace that the odds will be against you. Small market, the refs and no love from the league. Green should win the award for most groin kicks not dpoy

And Rudy went freaking HAM after the All-Star break. 17 pts. 13 rebs. 3 blks on 70% shooting... if they keep this **** up he will become the GOAT in a few years.

He chose his number based on where he was drafted... he likely has a list of people to kill... he feeds off the haters and doubters souls.

Goat?
Like for the Jazz all time centers you talking about right?
You surely wouyldnt consider hinm to be betterthen Wilt, Russell shaq somne of those guys are the Goats at center

stop it with the small markets don't get love from espn. Spurs do and so does OKC. Portland too, Just stop it with the espn hates us whining

only stat he leads in is blocks. More to defense then blocking shots. He is an all defensive player but this year DPOY is wide open. A Few players have legit claims to the crowne, Rudy is one of them

Wait a second man, he leads in almost every defensive advanced metric there is. Green is awesome, but Rudy is awesome too. Green is getting votes for not winning last year.

Bill put Rudy in all NBA first team & Gordon on the 3rd team

5 years ago it would have been unanimous Gobert. It's just the way the NBA is focused on 3's people assume a versatile defender is more impressive/important.

Does he get an actual vote? I was thinking of that when I saw it. He has such an allegiance to Boston I would think he wouldn't want Hayward to get the extra money. Or maybe he doesnt want Hayward and he wants him to stay in Utah. Or maybe he is just an ethical voter.

I get why people vote for Green. He is the only player in the NBA who can literally guard anyone and lock-down a guy in crunch time. He has more highlight defensive plays, especially ones that were basically the defensive equivalent to hitting a buzzer beater. Combine that with how popular they are among writers, always being on TV and focused on since that's what people want to read about, they see him more. And the whole next up thing.

I'm surprised only 4 people voted for him though. That is some ****ed ****. I thought it would be more like 10-13. I'm just glad Tim MacMahon voted for him. He is pretty cool. He rides for Rudy on the True Hoop podcast.

Aren't the Jazz like one of the best teams at defending the three? I know they allow the least corner threes in the league.
