Round 1 Game 2 Utah Jazz at L.A. Clippers 8:30pm MDT

#1. Having Bogut right now would have been nice.Thought it was a mistake to pass on that opportunity and I'm even more certain about it. Hopefully Rudy can go so that Withey can find his spot on the bench again.

#2. Starting with the same lineup was a mistake. Jazz started slow last game, down 7-1 before they started clawing their way back and down 12-3 early in this one - from which they never Ed recovered. Should have started Withey, Johnson, Hayward, Ingles and Hill. Then brought Favors, Diaw and Hood off the bench.

#3. Bolomboy should have played. Favors and Withey were trash tonight and JJ/Boris at the 4 will never win the rebound battle. They were playing with house money and needed some rebounding and energy. Bolomboy would have brought that in spades.

#4. When somebody hits them, I wish they'd hit back. Rudy and Jingles talk **** all night and back it up. Jazz need some more swagger out there when things get rough. Something to rally behind.

#1. LOLLLLLL nice take on Bogut....except the fact that he's injured and got waived 1 game into the season from the cavs.

Blake Griffin on the Jazz: "They're a team that they keep fighting. They keep executing. ... They're really well-coached. They don't panic."

Boston's problem is similar to the Jazz right now--they cant rebound. Jazz will get better when Rudy returns, even if that is next season. Boston is stuck with Horford and crew for a while.

It's also been good that it wasn't like Hayward is scoring 40 and we are losing by not giving him support. This series is as much about convincing Hayward he can win here as beating the Clippers imo. I feel great about where we are... except the obvious Rudy injury. I think it has gone about as well as can reasonably be hoped.

He broke his leg on a fluke play where he got kneed by a defender closing out. Not saying it couldn't have happened if the Jazz had claimed him off waivers. . . but it wasn't an inevitable injury that was likely to happen if they'd brought him in. Given limited minutes filling in for Favors to finish the season, it's very likely he'd be perfectly healthy right now.

#5. Griffin, Jordan and Paul won this game. They combined for 63 points, 22 rebounds and 14 assists. I know that we're trying to keep JJ Redick from getting going, but the goal should be to shut down Chris Paul and Blake Griffin. Make Jordan and Mbah a Moute beat you.

I think Bolomboy might get lost too easy. Could make an argument for starting Johnson over diaw but we need his minutes. We really need Hayward to break out. JJ and Hood are needed in the second unit.

If we have Rudy for both games are we up 2-0? I think we might be.

I do need to see is intentionally foul Jordan at some point. It's about numbers and just mentally kind of a strain on him and the team. Not sure we have been in the penalty often or early enough.

This is not good for the rest of the series...

From Locke
DeAndre Jordan was a beast tonight. He was able to get behind the defense and play above the rim. He had 7 dunks. This is certainly a case of not having Rudy Gobert. Derrick Favors does a ton of things well but he is not great at protecting the rim in the drop pick and roll coverage. I am not sure how the Jazz solve this issue the rest of the series.

It's cute people think Quin should play Bolomboy when he didnt even log 100 minutes in the regular season. You think Quin really trust him?

More from Locke...

• This is going to be really tough without Gobert. It takes away a lot of the Jazz offense with the rim rolls and the offensive rebounding. Not to mention his impact on defense. I haven’t looked at the numbers but the Jazz have not shown they can defend when Withey is at center in this series.

• If the Jazz continue to play that hard and with that focus they have a chance in this series. This was a good performance with a lot positives.

Be loud Friday

A couple of minutes. Hack-a-Jordan. Every damn time down the court. I think he can do that. Whatever they do, they ought to funnel the ball to Mbah a Moute. Make that dude beat you.

I agree the Jazz could do some hack-a-Jordan. Also, the Jazz needed to drive it to the hoop and get DeAndre Jordan in foul trouble early. This is where someone like Alec Burks comes in handy. Had they done that they walk away with a win. Had they hit some of the MANY wide open 3 pointers they missed, they win.

Bottom line, is it's hard to be mad. We're all upset that the Jazz didn't win a PLAYOFF GAME, in LOS ANGELES, against the CLIPPERS, without GOBERT. Let that sink in a little bit, and tell me - if you had heard before the series started, that we'd be coming back to Utah with a 1-1 series, and that Rudy Gobert hadn't played a minute yet - that you wouldn't be shocked beyond belief.

Guys, I did not watch Q1, the only quarter we lost, but we looked fine in the second half. They needed to make some tough corner threes to seal it. CP3 was remarkable. We fought hard and made it close until the last minute but eventually came up short. JJ and Hayward both bricked two big wide open threes.

I think Snyder is massively overcoaching Rivers. Also our roster is more balanced, we have around 7 very good players. They have three stars and 7 mediocre players. If any of these guys step up we may lose the series. Otherwise I think we'll make it 2-1 in Utah even without Gobert. If Gobert returns we win anyway.

Burks is terrible awful at driving to the hoop and doing anything positive.

Its been clear for sometime that we've lacked toughness and swagger. Sure we have a little but not enough. Through our good times, and a lot of wins we clearly needed a Booker mean energy type of hustle player. I told you that Withey will let you down. Hes a solid 3rd big nothing more. I'm disappointed in Favors tonight if anything.

Hack a Jordan can only work in certain situations. First you can't foul him off ball in the last 2 mins. Second you have to be in the penalty.

The Jazz just need to be OK with fouling him. No easy dunks and hang on him when he goes for a board. Favs should have fouled out but that doesn't mean put in a scrub to put us in the penalty for the whole game. CP3 will take advantage of that, guaranteed.

Thought we did good, all things considered. Aside from their scorching hot start, it was a pretty even game, despite them exploiting the **** out of Gobert's absence. The Jazz played a little content, but they played hard and executed throughout the game.

With Gobert, I think the series is a done deal. It is doable without him. But it'll be tough.

I am going to lay an assist for the next person to post the 1000th comment for this thread.

Ooops.

Sorry guys, the lane opened up and I just had to finish with the hammer
