What's new

George Hill OUT tonight

You never know. Maybe he just needs to know he'll get some time out there. Focus, give some effort. It would be great for our #5 pick to play like a #5 pick. A good one, anyway, not a bust.

And yeah, I'd prefer this. If Exum can lock Curry to 10 points, we've got a great chance, and I'd prefer keeping him as a big minutes guy.

You can tell when he's gold bricking his injuries. Like most of his stay in NJ/Brooklyn.

Compare that to when he landed on Brandon Roy's foot in the pre-season. That was legit, and he had a whole different attitude about it.

I don't think it'd be hard to convince him there's a future here. A future where he's a comparable PG to CP3 again.

The murmurs on Dwill are that he kind of stopped caring about staying in shape in Brooklyn. Supposedly ever since he has started playing with the Cavs he has made a commitment to losing weight again.

Already negged you for lauding the misogynist joke earlier, so I'll have to come back to this one. If the point is that George Hill is pretty weak, then you're saying having a vagina makes one pretty weak. And that's ********. How about this: just say you think George Hill is pretty weak, instead?

I responded in kind. Not all, it was just a ridiculous comment that I found funny. I'm entitled to find things funny and for my own reasons. You should lighten up.

First, I never said you aren't entitled to find it funny. Don't put words in my mouth. Having a sense of humor doesn't require making or laughing at ignorant comments about women. Second, I'm not going to lighten up about it. I'll continue to neg anyone who makes misogynist jokes or offhand remarks informed by misogyny and anyone who defends it.

Most of the posters here are awesome. They don't engage in this garbage. I wish more people would be more vocal in discouraging it, but either way I'll keep calling it out.

You're a bit uptight. You're also making all sorts of assumptions. Isn't it possible that despite finding a silly joke funny, I'm not a misogynist? Isn't it also possible that people who don't make, laugh at or comment on silly jokes might be a misogynist?

Big toe soreness is what you're sitting for in round two of the PLAYOFFS. Why do people want to pay this guy big money again?

I'm uptight about this, sure. Is that a problem for you? You seem oddly uptight about defending misogynist jokes. I'd prefer to be uptight against misogynist jokes than on their behalf. Whether you're an unabashed misogynist or not I can't say. I don't know you. I don't exempt myself from manifesting misogyny at times. It's a deep part of the cultural matrix you and I live and breathe in. It's something I try to be mindful of in raising my daughter, and in interacting with women every day.

To your question, yes, I think it's possible to be a misogynist without making, laughing at, or commenting on "silly jokes."

All of that is beside the point. I do know that you're defending a misogynist joke in this discussion. I'm trying to discourage misogynist jokes on JazzFanz. I'd prefer people make the board more hospitable to the women who post here, and to people like me who are bothered by misogynist jokes. Hope you'll think about it and decide to help make the board more hospitable.

Oh look at that. More neg from CALJAZZFAN: "Here you. You're not very smart and you're quite uptight."

That's a lot of effort on your part to neg twice within a few minutes. And I'm the uptight one.

He was probably trying to play through it the first game, which didn't work out well. But sure, let's all cry and insult him for being soft.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I agree. It's pretty damn ridiculous for fans who have no medical knowledge of toe injuries in general to assume Hill isn't tough or a competitor because of it.

Negative rep with this comment: "No. You don't pick on him?" Really? Are you allowed to negative rep someone because you think Lifeonaplate is being picked on? Is he (or she) not capable of sticking up for himself (or herself)?

If this was a one time thing I don't think people would say anything. But this has been a season long issue from a guy looking for a payday that will kill our cap. People want to see some toughness.

At this point the season is probably over. Hill and his 35 games of random injuries cost him millions of dollars.
Who ever signs him to a contract over 12 million a season would be signing a toxic contract.
Tonight I'd be willing to run a offense thru a point forward like Ingles or Hayward and see if that might work and run Exum as the 2 guard.

In isolation, it's true, and it might be serious (see Blake Griffin's toe issue, although he might be even more soft), but the general consensus about Hill being a big soft is because he has constant injuries like this.
