Following potential 2017 draftees...

Here is another player vs player who would you take?

Z Collins V Allen
J Jackson V Ferguson - thought it was Josh at first
J Collins v Patton
Kennard V Mitchell
Rabb V Hartenstien
Leaf V Lydon
Swanigan V Bam
Bryant V Bradly
Diallo V Kurucs
Jeanne V Lessort
Wilson V Bolden
Iwandu v White
Hart V Bacon

My picks.

Anyone think Kennard can play on the ball in a two-guard front with Exum? Basically, it means he's playing the PG/initiator role on some possessions. Exum would take the tougher defensive assignment and can guard wings, while Kennard would guard PGs (unless the PG is elite).

Or, do you think Kennard would get exposed on switches defensively?

How often is the SG going to be better than the PG? I really don't see very many teams that happens with. Exum would be fine guarding the PG and Kennard the SG.

Z Collins V Allen -- I guess I'd take Collins. There's a 10% chance he becomes like Pau Gasol. I still don't believe in him as a PF, but he can at least space the floor. Allen has a 20% chance of being the next DeAndre Jordan, which would make it tempting to take him for defensive impact alone.

J Jackson V Ferguson -- I'm not thrilled with Ferguson (who I think is like Kerry Kittles), but I like Jackson less. Jackson shouldn't be in the top 20 of this draft.

J Collins v Patton -- This is a wash.

Kennard V Mitchell -- I'll take Kennard. He could be a special player if he doesn't get creamed defensively. (See Devin Booker.) Mitchell is good, but undersized for a 2-guard, rendering him to be a combo off the bench. Kennard is bigger and is the better shooter and ball mover.

Rabb V Hartenstein -- Hartenstein all day. He should go lottery. Rabb's lack of athleticism may make him a back-up.

Leaf V Lydon -- I remember when the Jazz worked out Burks and Klay Thompson together and said Burks was better at everything but shooting. I'll take the shooter. Lydon.

Swanigan V Bam -- this is tough because it's not clear what Bam is going to be. Swanigan is the safer pick. Bam has more upside. If I think Bam has the hunger to be great I take Bam. If I don't think he has that fire, I take Swanigan.

Bryant V Bradley -- Bryant will do all the things Mareese Speights does on offense and play defense on top of that. He'll be a better pro than college player and should be markedly better than Bradley.

Diallo V Kurucs -- This is tough, but in a league that favors length, shooting, play-making and position less switching, Kurucs is the safer pick. If Diallo shows he can do everything (or close to everything) and he interviews well, I could be won over to take Diallo, due to his potential as an explosive scorer.

Jeanne V Lessort -- I don't think I'd take either of them, but I don't know Lessort.

Wilson V Bolden -- Bolden, simply because he's quicker, more explosive and will probably make a bigger impact defensively. Wilson is going to be good at everything, but isn't explosive or assertive enough to be a big impact player (Think Kyle Anderson).

Iwandu v White -- who?

Hart V Bacon -- Eh. I could be convinced to take Bacon as a backup wing. When he heats up he really sizzles.

They didnt even invite him to the combine. Dude effed up by not taking Portsmouth invite.

He looks good, maybe even prototypical. His high release with the slight lean-back is pretty ideal. Looks like he has decent size and can create a bit for himself with a few dribbles like Hood does. Adequate length and athleticism to defend. I don't see him DX for 2017. Maybe he's old for his class?

I want Semi Ojeleye and OG Anynoby in the 1st I think.

Thoughts pgab?

The more I think about this draft the more I'm sure that Anunoby isn't falling far... Teams are gonna look at him and think "We can use him like Draymond".. He's a warlord wing.. They don't make em like that every year, the next one might be Zion Williamson and Utah wont even be remotely in range..

Ojeleye is going to crush all his interviews. I can tell u that with supremely high conviction. Impressive kid, he's a total workhorse..There's definitely some parallels with everyones favorite PF Noah Vonleh.

To be clear tho, Derrick White over Jok any day, all day, every day. White's basketball IQ is much higher, he can be trusted with the ball in his hands.. Jok goes thru bouts of Kobe-itis and suffers from tunnel vision.

J Collins v Patton <--- This is the easiest pick of the bunch BTW. Somehow Patton is flying under the radar again.. Which I have no explanaition for..
Kennard V Mitchell
Rabb V Hartenstien <-- Rabb is probably safer, this one is up in the air. workouts/interviews will be telling (not Rabb's interviews, he's gonna do just fine in those, for certain.)
Leaf V Lydon
Swanigan V Bam
Bryant V Bradly <--- This one is easy
Diallo V Kurucs <--- This one is tough
Jeanne V Lessort
Wilson V Bolden <--- Easy, u really gotta take into account their body types in this.
Iwandu v White
Hart V Bacon <-- Easy, you'd be crazy to take Bacon first if we're talking for the Jazz...

good post

BTW I don't think Utah is going to actually draft Jok, he's an UDFA.. they could've gone after a player like Sheldon McClellan last year (Wizards picked him up) Same type of skillsets.
