I want to apologize to all religious people here.

I am sorry for all negative things I said about all religions practised by forum members here in the past - be it Islam, Judaism, Paganism, Mormonism or other form of Christianity. I understand that I may have hurt some feelings while posting my own opinion about the subject. I am obviously not becoming religious but I promise to show respect to people of faith and not make fun or insult their
religious customs and beliefs even if I strongly disagree with them. I will try to argue on topic in more civilised matter in the future. Peace.

aw man, looks like I gotta pick up the slack and post some Marx quotes of my own

lol my feelings are not hurt. it just showed u started a thread for what i assumed was to have a reasonable discussion about creationism vs evolution!

i tried to plead my case that to me they are not incompatible but in sync, pointed you the way to information, but you are close minded and did an ad hominmem attack! how could you then say i am wrong without looking into what i told you to look into! you accused me of saying that judaism is the truth!
i never said judaism is the truth. i said judaism is in sync with evolution and big bang theory!

but yeah i'll be the bigger man and accept your apology, and wait for your apology for the personal attack.

At the end of the day I try to respect and support whatever one wants to believe (to a certain degree, obviously) if it makes them happy or feel like they are pointed in the right direction to live a life they deem worthy, satisfactory, fulfilling, and enjoyable. There are definitely times though I have to remind myself why it's, to me, the right way to think though. Who am I to tell someone else what or how to live their life, even if completely foreign, weird, or incomprehensible it may be?
I think it's incredibly short-sighted and selfish to force one's beliefs on others or be condescending towards other's reasoning of what is life is, how it should be lived and its purpose.

Why did you feel the need to apologize all of a sudden? Did something happen?

Nothing really happened. Just was thinking we are sometimes way to aggressive in expressing our feelings on internet boards and do not think how it may affect more sensitive people. Funny jokes here and there are ok and we all make them once in a while but religion is such a sensitive subject that I feel I certainly stepped over the line numerous times before. Would hate one day meeting people from this board at Jazz game or pub or whatever and them have wrong opinion about me. That's it.

I think this is an excellent attitude for anyone to have, regardless of their point of view or beliefs.

It's a big step towards being able to give one's ideas a fair run for whatever they're worth. I don't mind anything you've ever said, really, I take it as what you think. I might think you don't do your ideas a good service by pushing too hard or being harshly critical, but I have my own need to project a little more understanding or tolerance of others.

For me, the idea of a discussion board calls for some effort to present different ideas, not just echo what others think. And yeah, I have the further problem or characteristic of being too willing to just overtly try to overthrow things I read from others, even if I really understand them, just to try to see how a different idea runs on its own legs.....

rarely really mean anything personal, but sometimes taken pretty much as hurtful or obnoxious.

"Ignore" is a useful function in here if you really can't stand the heat or nonsense, and it's used by the best of JazzFanzers, even Kicky..... lol.

Have you read Waking Up by Sam Harris? I bet you'd like it.
