RealGM Mock Off-Season - Thoughts?

I'm participating in the mock off season in the T&T board on RealGM as the Jazz GM. I'd like to hear your opinions on those moves/possibilities.

- I just dumped Burks for a future second rounder.
- I tried to trade up in the draft using one of Favors or Lyles to get Isaac... then Markkanen ... then Ntilikina ... then OG. I was closest with a proposal for no. 10 (Lyles+24+30), but SAC GM got an insane offer he couldn't refuse and I was unwilling to beat, I was also close to flipping Favors for OG at 13, but Denver decided against it.
- Other offers: I have an offer from Indiana around Favors for Thad with a pick swap rights in 2018 for the Jazz. I'm trying to extract a full first in addition. The other offer is Favors +30 for Thad + IND 2018(top 10 protected) first, This is closer, but I still don't know if I'm willing to do it. Thoughts?
- I had some preliminary talks about Favors+picks for Bledsoe, but they failed since the Suns didn't pick a PG in the draft
- I tested the waters with Dragic, but the price is astronomical. I consider him barely positive value on his contract, but he makes sense for the Jazz if we know we are losing Hill(if he wants a ton of money). I offered Lyles + pick, but the counter was Hood + Exum + higher pick and I shut it down immediately. Thoughts?
- The draft board is falling in a way that doesn't seem like it's in Jazz interest to trade up anymore. I can wait and pluck BPAs at 24 and 30. Unless I manage to deal for Blesoe or Dragic... or some other PG.

Here's the picks so far in the draft:

1. Boston (From Brooklyn) - Markelle Fultz
2. Los Angeles Lakers - Lonzo Ball
3. Orlando (from Sacramento via Philadelphia) - Josh Jackson
4. Phoenix - Jayson Tatum
5. Sacramento (from Philadelphia) - De'Aaron Fox
6. Philadelphia (From Orlando) - Malik Monk
7. Minnesota - Jonathan Isaac
8. New York (traded to ORL) - Dennis Smith Jr.
9. Dallas - Zach Collins
10. Sacramento (From New Orleans) (traded to MIA) - Lauri Markkanen
11. Charlotte - Frank Ntilikina
12. Detroit - Harry Giles
13. Denver - OG Anunoby

- There might be a possibility of trading up to 14 with Lyles+24. But I'm not sure there is a player that's worth it.

I will update you on what's happening and in the meantime you are welcome to share your thoughts and ideas.

Whatever you do, don't listen to anything Cy says.

If you start listening to what fans say, you might as well be sitting in the stands next to them.

See what big names are available around the league. Nobody on our roster is untouchable except Rudy.
I wouldn't package picks to move up in the draft.

Dumping Burks was the right move to give you enough salary flexibility.

Shopping Favors is the right move. But he has value here too so it has to be something.

I don't see anyone at 14 that I would give Lyles up for.

What has the PG market been like? What is Rubio's asking price?

I think Favors is gonna look better on paper next season to have on our team as people would have to assume he would become healthy again - so unless you get a top 30 players back I wouldn't move him. Unless you get a young up and coming talent back.

Get rid of Burks.
Get rid of Lyles.
Package Exum + Burks + Lyles for an upgrade

Do they assume Hayward & Hill comes back? How does that work?

Market for PG has been... challenging. I'm not interested in Rubio really... Thanks for the feedback.

We will have to give a pitch to free agents when free agency begins.

If the market for Favors is soft, it's best to hold him into next season:
-- affects Hayward's decision
-- see if he can improve and stay healthy
-- see what Lyles looks like next year

If Luxury Tax is an issue, Favors can be moved at the deadline for an offer that's equal or better to what you're receiving now.

Are you able to sign and trade Hayward or Hill? It would help both parties right?

Can somebody remind me if that's possible under the new CBA?

Regarding the trade up in the draft, you could float 24 + 30 to see how high that gets you. I wouldn't give up Lyles to move up, but I'd trade our first round picks for any of the following:
-- Kennard
-- Kurucs
-- Mitchell
-- Bam
-- maybe Leaf

It's unlikely any of those guys make it to 24.

Agreed, I think the Jazz might need to trade up to secure Kuzma

Yep, that's my plan pretty much. The tax is calculated at the end of the year, not at the beginning... so... I will go into the season above the tax if I have to and then the plan would be to look for the best offer at trade deadline to unload a contract. Or if the Jazz are killing it... maybe management decides to pay the tax.

S&T have not been incentivized since the 2011 CBA came into effect(the current CBA) and that's why those deals have gone down significantly. Just it doesn't make any sense for player and new team to do it.
