Boston vs Utah for Hayward

Oh please. No amount of great defense should be enough to hold LeBron James to 0 points, 1 rebound, and 1 assist over the last 16:31 of a game. Give credit to the Celtics, but LeBron coasting through the rest of the game clearly made this possible. It defies all logic to try and argue otherwise.

No it doesnt. Boston won, they get the credit. That's logic. I don't discredit teams. LeBron has been a savage all playoffs. The Celtics did something and it worked. I give them credit. If LeBron plays great the next game and wins and the Celtics suck, I give LeBron credit.

Maybe we can try a three way trade? Hayward to boston, Butler to utah, draft pick to Chicago, and some players... Is this possible by any chance?

Bird rights do not transfer with a s&t. Hayward would not get a Utah-sized contract. Boston has no reason to give up the first pick if they have space to sign Hayward. Only Jazz and bulls benefit so this never happens

Sign and trade Hayward for the #1 pick. Book it.

I'm sure Ainge will happily give up fultz instead of signing him as a free agent. (Scratching head). Hayward gets nothing out of this. Only Jazz benefit. No deal

The only potential benefit for Hayward/Boston is adding a 5th year to his deal, but no way in hell do they value an extra year of Hayward for the #1 pick.

No, you have birds rights to whoever is on your team I believe. For instance, the Warriors will have Durant's birds right after he (most likely) opts out this year.

Must be with team for 2 years to get early bird right. 3 years for full bird rights

Throw too much at Chicago for Butler.

Adding Butler easily makes the Jazz a top 3 team in the NBA assuming that all teams are healthy in the playoffs. Hill and Hayward would have to stay to see what that team could do.

It would take 2 promising players and 2 first-round picks, at least. Chicago might still say no.

Ainge was reluctant to include this year's Brooklyn pick. They're still reluctant.

Or they were just establishing leverage. They offer some deals and play hardball to feel out Chicago so they can fleece them this summer. The reports were a deal was in place Chicago liked but Boston refused to put Crowder in.

Our pick this year(we keep gsw)
Our pick next year and the okc pick
Swap rights in 2019
Our pick in 2020
Plus Hood, Exum, Burks, Lyles

Do they take that?

Nope. Hayward's deal with s&t is no better than Celtics can give him in free agency. 4 years, 4.5% raises.

I just watched Hayward's wife Instagram video. You can hear Gordon rewatching Joe Johnson's game winning shot in the background!

That is all the proof I need!

Mike Conley (God bless his soul), thinks Hayward should stay with Utah.

The conversation about free agents going to a team in this conference or a team in that conference because the path might be "easier" is really annoying. No matter what team your on and what conference you are in you can't duck anyone. If you're in the East you still have to deal with Golden State. They still exist. If you're in the West you still have to deal with Cleveland. They still exist. Media types harp on that topic too much.

Which was smart for Boston. Once Hayward signs, Crowder becomes expendable.
