What's new

Following potential 2017 draftees...

Pass... He's more Ajinca than Gobert... I would like some variation at center too... rather have Bell or Bam to move their feet and do the Tristan Thompson.

I don't know why people are so excited about the guy... for every Gobert there are 10 Edy Tavares, Bebe, Ajinca types.

He's 7'2 with a 7'6 1/2 wingspan... He's super fluid athletically. More fluid than Gobert. He moves like a wing...He's even shown the foundation of a good outside jumpshot. He needs work but there is HUGE upside there. That's why I'm excited about him.

Has anyone else here mention Jonathan Jeanne?

He would be a GREAT under study for Gobert and become a permanent backup center for us. If he becomes the next Gobert we can always trade him for another prospect later as well.

Quite a few of us love Jeanne. I think he would be an amazing pick at 24.

I feel like Jeanne is likely being waaaay overhyped here because of Rudy's success and people aren't being very objective.

At the Combine, he looked like more of an NBA player than I thought he would. He can move and make plays at NBA speed. He has good defensive instincts, can make a few moves and make open shots offensively. He's got fairly good hands. It's just a question of whether he can gain 20 or 25 lbs and not get too beat up in the league. The comparison to Gobert is based on how mobile he is for his size/length.

Haven't been able to follow this years prospects, but is Fults a can't miss surefire #1 pick?

He really has no weaknesses in his game. I would say he is pretty close to can't miss and should at the very least be a consistent 20 ppg scorer in the NBA. I'm not sure he is a super-star, but I think at the very least he is a yearly border-line all-star.

Like his biggest weakness is probably the fact that he isnt an elite athlete, just a really good one. He is like Gordon Hayward level athletic.

I think Rudy is successful because of his make up. He's ultra competitive. If not he'd be just another in the long line of tall stiffs with some athletic ability. Maybe this Jeanne has some Gobert in him. I don't know one way or the other.

Been some discussion on Trey Lyles on the board... just in terms of roster construction it would be tough to try and develop him alongside another prospect. I'd hate to give up on the guy, but his shooting this year may be closer to what he is than his shooting his rookie year.

So here is the question... would you rather continue the Trey Lyles experience or would you rather develop one of the combo forwards projected in the 20-40 range... Kuzma, Semi, Lydon, Justin Jackson (maryland), jonah bolden, etc.

Passing on one of these guys because we think Lyles may develop might prove more costly than just wasting a pick on him.

I like Rabb. He can shoot and he plays defense. I will predict our 1sts are going to be a PF and a SG. The question is whether DL wants a stretch-4 or a banger like Bam (if DL thinks Favors is in our long-term plans depends on his choice).

I love Fultz. I think he's an elite prospect. He's in a tier of his own on my big board.

He is extremely polished and creative offensive player. He's a threat from all 3 levels. His pick and roll game is sublime and he uses a wide variety of moves to create space, his handle is very tight and he's creative with it - he splits double teams with a behind the back dribble?!?! Like... who the hell does that? I've seen CP3 do it, but there aren't many players comfortable enough with the ball to try it, let alone pull it off... His footwork is also great on creating separation on step backs and isos. He changes speeds and directions seamlessly. His style of play is extremely deliberate and precise, he never looks like he'sin a hurry, yet most of the time gets where he wants to go first. He has good vision and passing. His athleticism is probably above average, but not elite. Still with his length he can play above the rim too. He's strong and has great body control when finishing at the rim against contests.

Because Washington played horrible defense as a team(I have to put this on the coach, I haven't seen worse defensive execution from a team recently) and because they ran zone a majority of the time, it's really hard to glean anything from Fultz's D. For what it's worth he had 1.2 blocks per game and 1.6 steals per game. The blocks are an insane number for a guard. At the very least it shows some defensive awareness and good timing. His specialty is chasedown blocks. He has some vicious ones. His off-ball defense was severely lacking, but again... it's hard to judge based on this abomination of a team and coaching he had.

I think he's the best PG prospect I've watched since ... Kyrie easily... I think he's better than Kyrie actually. Or rather... has the potential to be better than him.

The future

Is it just me or does this draft have a lot of value in the 20s and 30s.
