What's new

NBA Playoffs thread.

What an egg laid by the Lakers....

Kobe scoreless at half. Ends up being outscored by Trevor Ariza.... Gasol only with what? 16 points? Bynum 11? Lamar with 6? Jeez.... Pathetic effort.

CP3 is showing why he was once considered the best PG in the league. His performance last night was incredible.

so the Celtics sweep the Knicks, eh?

very funny article by Jason Gay in today's WSJ
https://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703396404576283231079559352.html?mod=ITP_marketplace_4

After years of dormancy and disaster—a string of losing campaigns; front-office messes; and one season in which the team simply quit in mid-December and enrolled in art school—the Knicks made the playoffs for the first time in seven seasons. They were perhaps the noisiest 42-40 basketball team in history, with a regular season broken into two halves: the part with one superstar and a collection of overachieving role players, and the part with two superstars, a wizened veteran and a bag of spare parts found under the seat of a rental car.

...the Celtics are an inexperienced team's nightmare. They're a basketball version of Walter Matthau: saggy, cantankerous, frustrating, impossible. During the regular season, the Celtics like to roam around the yard in an unwashed bathrobe, muttering at the birds and threatening to move to Vero Beach. But they sharpen for the postseason, as if covered in magic liniment. Despite the absence of 88-year-old center Shaquille O'Neal...

Then the Knicks went out and played one of the most hapless first halves of basketball you will ever see, shooting 23% from the field and stumbling around the court like a squirrel that had a yogurt cup stuck over its head....

a few of my favorite quotes...

It's a damn shame that Memphis and OKC have to play next round while the Mavs get to be swept by the Lakers.

OKC and Memphis are probably the two most physical teams left in the west. I think either could give the Lakers a tough series right now.

Meanwhile, Dallas will brick a lot of jumpers, choke games away, and Cuban will complain about the refs (only to work at Dairy Queen the next day).

LOL

Gotta love Stern's hand in this one. It's honestly kinda refreshing to see a team get screwed by the refs (Lebron's and Wade's best friends) other than the Jazz.

Rough up any of them, flagrant foul (that flagrant on Jermaine could have been called every time down the court).

Stand up to any of them, get tossed.

Even the old big 3 can't get calls against the new Big 3. Which, stern desperately wants in a showdown against the Lakers.

What's hilarious is watching today's two games. OKC and Memphis, heads were flying and no calls were made. In fact, I thought the game was called pretty well. That's what playoff Basketball is. Miami and Boston? Not so much. every call went Miami's way. Any touch on Lebron or Wade resulted in a foul. I honestly have no clue how to defend those two when they're allowed to charge into the lane full speed after shuffling their feet only to be bailed out by bogus blocking fouls and AND ones.

Anyone know when Shaq's gonna play? Is he done for the playoffs?

I didn't agree with Rondo's 3rd foul. Pierce should have kept his cool better, but it was surprising to see him ejected for what he did. I think Jones exaggerated his reaction to make the "head butt" look much worse than it really was, and the refs bought it.

Can dallas beat l.a.? they do have the size to matchup with them with chandler and haywood. 2 guys i wish the jazz could've acquired.

Last year? No way.

I think they'll do it this year. Although it is much easier to say that after they won game one.

Anyone else laugh at the last few seconds of the Chicago game?

Boozer goes in for a dunk, is rejected by about 2 Hawks.

They go to dribble out the clock... And rose, trying to act like a hardass acts like he's going to play real "pressure" defense and then cuts backward real fast. In his cut, he ends up turning his ankle and then limps off the court....

LOL!

How fitting.

I hope they're swept, asswipes.

How do you know he's Mexican? Idiot.

Ever been to a NBA game where the Lakers are playing? Did you even see the picture? He's Mexican. I just hope he has proper ID. The gravy train of causally walking in and breaking our laws demanding free education and healthcare is over folks!

Dallas over LA, 3-0 now. Go Mavs!
