What's new

Lmao Portland

Huh maybe we consume different media? Like you read Breitbart and I don't. This is the first that I am hearing about this.

and yes to turn this back around! assume we watch different media(not saying which media is right or wrong)
for sake of argument, lets say i am watching the wrong media! you are watching honest real world media!

now because i watch different media reality to me is different than yours!
meaning i live in a different reality than yours, so we cannot work together because our reality differs so much! so we cannot communicate or anything! it seems like tower of babel. we will have a failure to communicate!

to the mainstream media and the anti defamation league Pepe the frog is racist, they consider that as a fact!
but to us it is something entirely different! a professor Jordan b Peterson has a YouTube video on "The Metaphysics of Pepe". but yeah that professor is called trans-phobic, so you might not wanna listen to him

The OK hand signal is racist? I am ignorant to this. Please explain

I blame Obama. Srsly the dude gets blamed for a ton of **** but I actually think that nontroversy is kinda his fault. The left used to hate bombs. They used to get upset about real human suffering. Then they fell in love with Obama, they even gave him a peace prize. Obama kept up the bombing, deporting, you know being presidential and stuff. The left was left with a choice abandon Obama, give up the bleeding heart schtick , or make up some unrelated to Obama nonsense to get upset about. Many seem to have chosen option C.
The OK thing was a troll job by 4chan that certain people on twitter took seriously and it blew up.

Maybe but from the 60s to 2008 it seems like the left protested and generally got upset about real issues. Trump may be a horrible president but at the least he should start to refocus the left on like real ****ed up stuff.
"May be a horrible president?"

actually i dont ussually read breitbar every few weeks an article or so!
i try and consume all media(did cut back on fox)

but other than that i follow mainstream media(keep your friends close but enemy closer kinda thing)

and mainstream media ran with this story! once they saw their stupidity they deleted it! they keep deleting stuff! trust me it was a mainstream media story for a day or 2 until they realized their stupidity! it was mostly a revenge plot by internet trolls for branding Pepe a racist symbol!

mainstream media also had a story on how Ariana grande hated america, and wished all her fans would die!
but after Manchester they deleted any story to that! yeah 1984 type of ****!

don't trust the media!

media matters (MMFA) also pushed the fake story!
Yet you link fox news and Breitbart pretty often... And other extreme "news" with a propoganda that don't even attempt to have journalistic integrity. There is a huge gap between bias or leaning and propoganda/agendas with your news. Although you have bought into fox news agenda that has convinced you that all media has a left bias despite reputable studies disproving that. They election for president recently the media has had a very slight bias towards the winner, including this one. So currently the media is right leaning overall. Although left and right age almost meaningless terms.

Most the things termed right aren't even conservative principles. They are just random moral values people want pushed on others. Same with left.

Did anyone look at the boycott list that was put together to try to shut down restaurants that are not selling the "right" kind of food? It explicitly states that white people must not be allowed to sell anything of an ethnic origin. This is truly the lunatic fringe.

To be fair it was a weekend business renting another person's taco truck (ironically it provided increased income to an actual "brown person" they rented the truck from, so pushing them out of business hurt a minority business owner) to make breakfast burritos on Saturday and Sunday mornings in a single location. It was a hobby. It was still a fascist move to force it out of business but it wasn't like they shut down some mom and pop shop that had been open for 2 generations. The slightest pressure and it was just easier for them to close shop than deal with the crap while they were playing restaurant on the weekends.

Hey, they could move to a red state and probably be mega hits now with their publicity.

I loved loving in Oregon when I did but there is some extreme people there. They jump on what they feel like are good causes (some are, some aren't imo) and take them way do far. When I lived in Eugene the city banned Christmas trees in public spaces. The fire department and police department responded well and said okay, we won't work on Christmas without a tree, so good luck with that. They let them have trees a couple days later.

Great and funny state, lots of these silly stories have and will keep coming out of Oregon.

In the eyes of those that did this, white girls selling burritos isn't politically correct. Just like the okay hand signal is racist, it's ****ing ridiculous.

Please define what politically correct means to you.

It's a sincere question. I hear it thrown around with disdain but to me it has almost no real meaning. I honestly don't know what it means other than something people generally don't like.

Back in the 90s it seemed it was used to describe something that constituted impolite and insensitive behavior. Essentially it was a standard of decorum in public and specifically political discussion. Then a shift happened and it became a slur. It seems it is used now to say that "I" will not be held to "your" standard of decorum. I do not need to be polite or sensitive, I have the right to act and speak with low manners, low consideration for others, low accuracy in meaning. In fact, it seems the argument against political correctness is that we SHOULD act with insensitivity, with non-nuanced and non-specific meaning, and with outright offensive and uncultured manners.

I think calling PC is now just an insult for whatever the extreme left does.

I would say that political correctness the use of euphemisms and legalistic language chosen for the purpose of obscuring ones intentions and or motives.

For instance let's say that I am a Republican presidential candidate and I hate Mexicans. A politically correct way for me to express my hatred when discussing immigration would be to talk about how we live in a country of laws, that we need to secure the border, that "illegal immigrants" shouldn't be able to cut in line.

Or I, as a mexican hating presidential candidate, could throw political correctness out the window and be honest about what I truly think. In this instance " Mexicans are rapists."

On the flip side, I think that you can recognize decorum without being politically correct. I think that you can say things that are politically unpopular, that are straightforward and honest, and still do it in a dignified way.
