One thing we learned in these playoffs is that the Celtics aren't a very good team, and players like Crowder, Smart and such are not remotely worth Jimmy Butler or Paul George in a trade scenario.

The other is that Brad Stevens is the Celtics best asset. Amazing job he did really with a midget, Avery Bradley, Horford and a bunch of rotation players.

I posted a similar thought a couple weeks ago. Even if they moved Love they wouldn't have room for Hayward. The only way would be if they forced a sign and trade with the Jazz.
Metro area is over 4.7 million. Tenth largest in US. Densely populated outside the city limits.

So much bickering... I think our future relies on these scenarios:
#1 Contender - Hayward stays, Hill stays for affordable deal, Gobert becomes perennial all star, Hood becomes great starter quality, Exum becomes good starter quality, Lyles becomes good 3rd big quality, draft picks and Bolomboy become contributors.
#2 Great not contender - Hayward stays and most the stuff above is a notch below what the hopes are. Maybe we lose Hill or young guys just dont develop like we need.
#3 fringe playoff team - Hayward leaves but all the hopes in #1 come true. Young guys develop and we restock with starters without replacing all star Hayward.
#4 struggle bus - Hayward leaves and nobody really improves all that much.
I hope for #1 (10%) but I think #2 is most likely (50%) followed by #3 (35%) then #4 (5%).

I don't think the size matters much... I just wouldn't want to be in one of the megacities and it's clear Boston isn't that.
To me it comes from when you have kids and a family its sucks balls to uproot them to go anywhere. Utah is obviously family friendly. I just thought about the times I had taken interviews for different jobs in the past and my wife freaking out because she didn't want to move. Not saying all wives are the same, but my guess is her preference would be for continuity... but maybe she hates it here... who knows.
Embiid's upside is all-time great. Like top 10 all-time great. Olajowan-Shaq level greatness. "A lot of players" whos have shown a comparable "flash" -- For bigs, say that would four: KAT, AD, Gobert, Boogie. Embiid's upside exceeds theirs, especially his 2-way game.
His downside is he never gets healthy.
His "healthy downside" is occasional All-Star.
I'm hoping that the Oden and Borchardt comps are sarcastic.

I was commenting on this fallacy: "Once your 10 miles out of the city it's just a bunch of family freindly, quint little New England towns, with nice homes, and lots of space/trees"
It is a densely populated area.
What is relevant about Boston is the Boston Metro area. The "city proper" is an arbitrary political line for governance. The city proper is under 50 square miles.
The densely populated metropolitan area continues way past the tiny city limits. It does not quickly become bucolic suburbia.
You are underselling how great Oden was when he was healthy and how much potential he had. Oden had all-time great potential also. He was going to be the next David Robinson.

What town in around Boston do you live in?
Come on dude, area around Boston is one of the most urban areas around any NBA city. Guessing less so than NY, Chicago, DC (LA?). There are small towns and rural pockets within 10 miles of every big city.
This map shows it pretty well, within 10 miles of Boston proper is almost completely urbanized.
Why do you assume I live there now?
By the way, I used to live in Worcester, have traveled extensively to all major US cities including a lot of time in Boston.
Moreover, there is a lot of provincialism in every city. Folks who occasionally travel more than a few miles from their home, have seen 0.001% of the area, and have no perspective on how their city compares to others.

You guys are so dumb. Hayward needs to leave. I have never seen such an obsession with any player we have ever had. If we resign him do any of you think that we are all of the sudden equal to GS. Is our future brighter than the Timberwolves? Seriously, no one wants to develop talent anymore because Gordon had one good year.
