Marc Stein: Miami just as big of threat as Boston for Hayward

If your goal is to win rings, why go to Miami right now? Hayward, Dragic, Whiteside...I don't see it unless other moves are in play there.

I bet he can't wait to play with Dion Waiters and Hassan Whiteside.

I just don't see it? Miami, I don't think is the free agent draw it was a couple years ago. Utah seems to have the better future between the two. No way Miami is a bigger threat then Boston.

Unless Boston goes another route.

I don't think Mark Stein would make this up, but I'm wondering why Miami? Very interesting place for this rumor.

If Bosh is 100% out, Miami could offer him a max deal and probably find a way to pay George Hill handsomely. They would probably have to dump somebody like McRoberts, Ellington or Johnson.

Dragic
Hill
Hayward
Winslow
Whiteside
Richardson

That's a pretty good East team but not a contender.

For a single guy, maybe Miami is an "attractive" option. But for Hayward when taking into account family, teammates, coaching and team chemistry, organization stability... I'll take the Jazz.

He's going to get a max offer from any team that can offer it to him.

His agent reps Ingles too... might angle to get a better deal for Ingles if it is a package deal. They are friends and Ingles has stated his want to be here...

I think the dominance of the Warriors helps the Jazz sign GH. If you think about it, the reason he is interested in Boston is to try and win a ring, but adding him to the Celtics hardly makes them competitive with the Cavs, much less the Warriors. If he is not likely to get a ring by moving, he and his legacy might be best served by staying in Utah.

I could see Pat Riley having some grand master plan.
Yeah, I'm sure a part of Riley's pitch is more than just Hayward joining them. Maybe they make a run at Butler or George. Maybe they are trying to convince another big name FA to join with him. Either way he has a big plan and a big pitch for Hayward.

Lebron

I'd imagine their plan would be to trade for Butler, because Butler/Hayward allows enough cap-space to get James in 2018. They probably trade Dragic/Whiteside for Butler? IDK. I would think it would be something along those lines.
