Following potential 2017 draftees...

For starters, he shot 46.6% from three. We desperately need that from a PF. He had a higher rebounding percentage than guys like Bam, Wilson, Lydon, etc. I'm sure you saw how bad of a rebounding team we were when Gobert was on the bench.

Im not trying to to discredit his stats but who didnt shoot impressively from the 3 from ucla, they were the best offense in the nation last season Bryce Alford's kid shot 43% from 3 even though he had 7.5 attempts per game.

I dont know what people see in leaf, he looks like a unathletic stiff who is slow as hell. Mabye im selling him short but he doesnt really impress me as a nba prospect.

That logic doesn't make sense. Who doesn't shoot impressively on GS?

If his shooting and rebounding translate to the pros, then you're right he's a great player. He could be, but I like the potential/upside of other PFs in our range a bit more. Leaf is a high-IQ player and a good passer. He's willing to get in and scrap in the paint. Again, I see a number of comparisons to David Lee. I just don't know if his defense, rebounding and 3-pt shooting will hold at the next level.

What makes his numbers translate any less than say Wilson or Lydon?

He is more athletic than you are giving him credit for, but he does move kind of clunky

I don't know if it helps the Leaf discussion or not, but:

Alford shot 6 or 7 points better (3-pointers) this year with Ball; Holiday (who I suspect is Ball's primary backup, though may also have played plenty with Ball) shot almost exactly the same as the previous year; and Hamilton's shooting was down just a tick this year with Ball.

All of these guys' 2-point percentage went way up this past year, however (interestingly, Thomas Welsh's didn't though).

I guess my takeaway would be that Leaf's high percentages may be a bit inflated. But good scouts and film study could probably tease out a good guess for how much the inflation is.

Lydon is a prototypical shooter with an ideal stroke and range out to 29 feet. He can shoot off the catch, on the move off screens and a bit off the bounce. He has a quick release and can get his shot off in traffic. There's no question his shooting should translate.

Leaf needs quite a bit of time and space to shoot, since he needs to square up and plant both feet. His shooting motion is slow, a bit like Pau Gasol. He'll shoot if he's wide open, but he doesn't appear to be versatile in his ability to get looks. He's not a threat to pull up off the bounce or off a screen.

Leaf is a high-IQ guy with good motor and some intangibles, who will make smart plays and be a bit crafty in the paint. I just want more upside, because I think a lot of his appeal is redundant with Lyles.

WC only likes Leaf because he is white.

Just making sure yall knew fam

I promise u hes going round 1

I could see Frank Mason getting drafted somewhere between 33 and 40. Because of the teams drafting in that range.
Orlando has 33 and 35. If they don't get a PG in the first round they could grab one with one of those two picks. And they need one who can shoot.
Philly needs guards who can shoot and they have 36 and 39.
Chicago could use a floor spacing PG, they have 38.
Sacramento has 34 and might be interested. Ranadive loves shooters.
NOLA has 40 and could use PG depth.

I don't think he goes in the first round tho.
