According to league source, Celtics will receive the No. 3 overall pick this year & a protected future first-round pick from Philly, not two

Good deal for the Sixers now.

Clarification on deal: Besides its 2017 FRP, Philly sends '18 Lakers pick w/ protections. If it doesn't convey, 76ers send 2019 Kings pick.

why do Boston want to help Philly get better ???

Because Isaiah Thomas, believe it or not, is a HUGE asset for them. By drafting Fultz, they'll surely alienate him and he'll surely leave in Free Agency.

By trading with the Sixers, they get the 3rd pick this year (a wing they can use), PLUS a potential top 5 pick in '18, AND still a hot favourite in keeping Isaiah Thomas in Free Agency as well.

Brilliant. Overpay for an undersized point guard and someone who likely won't age well at all.

Undersized or not he led them to the best records in the East this year...

Fultz, as good as he is, is going to take at least 3-4 years to do that (if Isaiah doesn't return).

Ainge is doing all types of maneuvering. Thursday should be interesting.

quite a gamble by the little white whine. Going to be fascinating to see how this plays out over the coming years. Has he screwed the pooch or is this some absolute masterstroke ??

Ainge is much smarter then you. They got Tatum who is the best scorer in this draft and last year got athletic beast Brown as a lockdown defender. ainge is best gm in bball. He has a solid team now
HE has a couple young studs on roster
Has lots contract picks..

Seriously any team would love to be sitting where Celtics are sitting and it's all because of Danny Ainge.

QUOTE=fishonjazz;1432081]Isn't fultz the sure fire no question best player in what is supposed to be a great draft?
Why would boston do this? Do they think that the 3rd best player in this year's draft is better than fultz?[/QUOTE]

Ainge much better gm and bball iq then someone from down under Ainge has stockpiled future picks all while having a good team still. HE has put on a clinic. You don't see me commenting on rugby or Kangaroos do you?

Says the guy that can't get a quote right.

Ainge parlayed the #1 pick in an excellent draft into the 5th or 6th best player. Ball, Fultz, Smith Jr., Josh Jackson and probably Issac are all likely to be better players than Tatum. I wouldn't be surprised if Fox and Mitchell turn out better as well. Tatum isn't much of a defender, doesn't have much of a first step, and looks mostly a mid-range iso-scorer. He doesn't really have an impact when he doesn't have the ball in his hands. Right now he's like a less athletic Tobias Harris.

I'm down on Ainge's drafting, tbh, and don't think he's really an elite GM. He ripped the Nets on a trade that basically fell into his lap, but that's his best accomplishment in the past 5 years.

I effing love Josh Jackson and think he's 3x the player Tatum is. Jackson affects every play.
