What's new

Following potential 2017 draftees...

Huge win for Boston. They pretty much secured next year's top 5 pick.

Why is that... Lopez helps a team win more than mozgov and russell, plus if they get PG3 this year that pick won't convey.

I thought Billy King was fired? Why is the management still so bad at Brooklyn... Lopez is a former all star still very much in his prime... I wouldn't even do Lopez for Russel straight up. Let alone taking on Mozgov's disastrous contract. While giving up another first round pick on top of that? Simply a bad trade all around...

Regarding Lydon... People are talking about Lauri M. as a top 10 pick... how much different are those two guys. Both struggle on defense. Lauri is bigger but wingspan isn't ideal so he isn't long. He's a better shooter, but doesn't do the passing and doesn't get any steals, blocks, etc.

Valuewise Lydon at 24 is preferable to Lauri at 7-10 imo.

Lauri is younger, bigger and a better shooter off the bounce. Lydon could be seen as a value pick though. Lydon has potential as a rebounder and should get by as a defender.

I think those are true, but he's not a lot younger and I think he is less mobile. Lydon may be smaller, but his block and steal rate indicate he can use is length better than Lauri.

I just think we can't write of Lydon as garbage and think Lauri is an amazing prospect.

Thoughts on Cam Oliver? He's in the mood of Jordan Bell, but he shot almost 39% from 3 and has a polished midrange game, face up, and post game. 6-8 245lb's. Compares himself to both Drey and Millsap. Very good athlete above average rebounder and shot blocker. Might be available at 30 or 42

Oh, and even though I always though it was obvious, the latest trade cements Ball as the #2 pick.

Also think it makes it more likely the Nets go with a big at 22. Originally thought they might go Jawun Evans or Derrick White.

Supposedly he has work ethic and maturity issues.

Oof. It was a great trade for the Nets.

He can pass and is a smart player... gets blocks and steals and is an adequate rebounder. He's kind of athletic and has good length.

Not sure why we are knocking the guy so much. Imagine if Lyles made 40% of his threes... you'd live with his other ****. Lydon isn't as good off the bounce but likely thinks through the game better than Lyles.

Eh. He's a good shooter, an ok passer, meh rebounder, ok at defending the rim but also lacks defensive awareness. He's not aggressive, and doesn't play to his talent. He's fine at the end of the 1st, but I don't love him. I never liked Lyles during the draft, and I like Lylesmore than Alyson.

Thought the same thing. Agree

Ya. Just watched a dx scouting vid talked a little about the work ethic thing, but I like the upside at pick 42
