Boston radio says Hayward is coming to Celtics

I think weeks ago they already did a victory lap thinking hayward was going there... he's already old news... hasn't even been able to win them a championship yet.. he's no tom brady.
 
He does have a point about market size. Players from small markets are ignored. If Hayward wants more national exposure and increase marketing endorsement opportunities, there aren't many worse options than Utah nor better markets than Boston.

Yesterday on the Boston sports show Felger & Mazz (98.5 The Hub)one of the hosts said he had "insider" information that Hayward has made the decision to come to Boston. Even though he was "torn" about the decision. Here was the reasoning:

-Underappreciated. Utah market is too small, not getting any recognition.
-Thinks he should have been an All-Star the previous two seasons. Blames that on Utah market.
-Wants to play in the East, away from Warriors.
-Likes Celtics system/Brad Stevens

I laugh so hard on all these reports. you cant talk to free agents until July 1st. how would Hayward even know what offer the celtics have on the table? If he does leave I would love to see the Jazz have a tampering case against boston and get some draft picks from them.

If you don't think these teams can figure out ways to talk to players then you're kidding yourself.

And please, you really think the league will give a damn if Boston tampered with some small Mormon franchise out in some worthless state?
 
GH will average 15 points a game there. Bradley, Horford and Crowder will chew into his average with the possibility of another guy getting his share.

GH will never be the face of that franchise where he has that opportunity here. It's up to him on if he wants to be the guy or just a guy.

I think Thomas more than anything will take shots way from Hayward. Thomas isn't as much of a creating guard as he is a scoring guard. Both need the ball in their hands to be effective.
 
utah - chance to be the face of the franchise + first one to win the championship. chance to be worshiped like a god. probably statue too

boston - chance to be 3rd wheel of a team. will just be a guy who wins a championship. always be under the shadow of russell, bird, pierce and probably +10 players

I thought they would have to move Crowder if they sign GH for cap purposes.

This. Does anyone have any idea how little they're actually clued in? I'm not saying this as hyperbole but the average poster on messages boards is a tier above typical radio personalities. If radio personalities registered an account online and started posting, they'd be ridiculed. Dat mic and radio waves doe...
 
I hope Gordon will consider the "recognition" part (if he even believes that) from the angle of media frenzy. That doesn't seem to be his favorite part of the job, and he'll be living in a much bigger fishbowl in Boston.

Not if they go get Porzingis. The Celtics could trade Smart with Bradley OR Crowder OR Brown and a ton of picks to get Porzingis then just sign Hayward to a max deal.
