Colton's plan for the offseason, including how I convince Hayward to stay

I think people are sleeping on someone offering Ingles 15 million a year. He might take a discount to stay on Utah, but not that much.

Name a couple that would? I just don't see it. The capped out contenders can only offer full mid level and the up and comer won't shell that out over a four year deal. I could see philly or sac doing like a one or two year deal at that number.

This isn't last summer so teams don't have space. Not that it's impossible.

By the way, this was being overly generous at least if the national media's opinions are to be believed.

SI lists Ingles as the 34th best FA
https://www.si.com/nba/2017/06/26/nba-free-agency-2017-top-50-players-kevin-durant-stephen-curry

Hoopshype lists him as the 43rd best FA
http://hoopshype.com/2017/06/15/nba-free-agency-2017-the-top-players/

CBS sports doesn't even include him on their top 60 list
http://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/n...ailable-players-potential-team-fits-analysis/

and USA today lists Ingles as only the 10th best SF https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...y-top-10-free-agents-each-position/434272001/

Granted many of those players will re-sign with their own teams, but even so a lot of them will be looking for FA deals with new teams. I remain convinced that Ingles doesn't get anywhere near $15 million/year.

Because the national media is retarded when it comes to Jazz players.

Sorry just caught up

Any team who wants a starting wing.

So every team with cap-space who doesnt get one of the top guys.

I do think other teams like him but might think he is somewhat a product of our system.

Dallas, Denver and Minny are the only logical other suitors with room.

Illogical suitors such as Sacramento and Orlando could join, but my guess is they wouldn't offer 4 years.

I think we offer him around 4/40ish to open up negotiations more than room MLE and is a fair offer. I don't see him first on the list and if he waits too much money could dry up... plus he likes it here. I could see someone going 4/50... I think we'd match it though.

How do you know they do? The article says that they only get cap space if they (a) let Millsap walk, (b) renounce Tim Hardaway Jr. and Thabo Sefolosha, and (c) renounce their Mike Scott and Mo Williams trade exceptions. He finds that all unlikely, so therefore said they have no projected cap space. I have no idea if that's accurate, but the author sounds like he knows what he's talking about.

They have the cap space if they want it, and is likely (resigning Millsap or Sefolosha make 0 sense for them right now), is what I'm looking for. If there's a FA they want, it's is likely they have like 35-40 million.

Why are any of those illogical? There isnt a team in the NBA that couldn't use Joe Ingles. The Magic and Sacramento are both perfect fits if they want to pay him. Who else are they paying in the next 3 years? Bring in a high character guy who is going to play hard and and be great in the locker-room.

There isnt a team in the NBA you put Joe Ingles on and you say "this is illogical". He is the perfect role player.

They will sign and trade Millsap... they are rebuilding and I just don't see handing that cap space to Ingles as prudent if you want to rebuild. They should take on salary dumps... like would they rather take Anderson at 3/60 and get a pick plus a shorter contract than Ingles at 4/60.

I dont know what Ingles will go for. NBA contracts are all over the place but I will say that Ingles is a great fit on any team. Ever team loves 3 and D guys. Plus one that is good in the locker room can pass the ball and have the offense run through. Plus he is a smart player. I hope teams look past him but I am guessing he will be coveted.

Because they could take on salary dumps for high character guys and collect assets in the meantime. I don't think a 3/45 gets him out of Utah... if they go 4/60 it messes up extensions.

When rebuilding teams acquire good character vets to help with rebuild they aren't that long of contracts.

Dudley, Lin, Booker, those types of deals rarely go 4 years and aren't super overpays... not saying it won't happen... it just isn't logical. The magic also have some salary issues with prior bad contracts they have handed out.

Really it's sacramento... to worry about if you want a crazy offer.

I like it. My only concerns are...

- I feel like if we keep Hill and sign Teodosic then we've completely given up on Dante. I don't like how we utilized him last year. I feel like we've continuously held him back in some ways. And this would be more of the same in his contract year. He would be entering FA as a former #5 pick and we'd still probably not know how good he is or isn't.

- Favors. What's the long-term plan with him?

I still fail to see how it's isnt logical for young teams to sign a guy like Ingles. It's exactly what Utah did and it worked out great.

Huh? Yeah sign vet guys at the right price or on a short deal. You think someone going to offer 4/60 for Jingles... hell they could offer 3/60 and get Iggy.

If it is 3/45 we match or just beat it with a decent 4 year deal... no bottom dweller is offering 4 years... I stated examples and stuff.

We gave Joe Jesus 2/20 that's smart... had we done 4/60 that's illogical.

Oh I wasn't saying they'd offer Ingles. I was responding to a list posted saying that the Hawks had no cap space.

What kind of mental gymnastics do you have to do to convince yourself a top 5 spot-up shooter, who is 6'8 with long arms, can defend multiple positions, and has PG skills doesnt get a 15 million a year offer?

Plus there are only what, 3 good available SF's this year? Hayward, Igoudala, and Gallinari? Ingles is the 4th.
Your description of ingles is like a highlight video. No weaknesses.
Sounds like a dude we should give the supermax to tbh.

I'm betting he gets an offer.

It's on then! Terms: winner chooses an avatar for the loser, which the loser must use for two months. Sound good?
Ummm..... I'm pretty sure he gets an offer too. I think it will be less that 15 million but I think cy wins this bet since he only said ingles will get an offer.

I don't think Dallas is logical. I think ingles is a win now type of signing for a team that is already really good who needs a specialist line ingles to fill a hole and role at a lacking position.

Isn't Dallas rebuilding?
