Rubio traded to Jazz

We would have until the trade deadline to make other moves to get under the tax. I think we could easily get back similar value to what we spent on Rubio if we flipped him.

As for Exum, all 3 could spend some time at the 2, and between Rubio and Hill, we might have one of them injured more often than not.

Who would give us a 1st for Rubio at the deadline with less than 1.5 years left on his deal when almost all good teams already have a really good effing point guard?

I'd rather have Hill for his shooting, but this is a whole lot better than trying to negotiate with Hill for a week or more, only to miss out and then have to pick from the scraps left over after the better players have signed elsewhere. God forbid we had another season with Mack playing lots of minutes.

I think I'd have preferred to overspend on Hill, retain Hayward and Ingles, opt out of Diaw, and do everything in my power to move Burks. **** that guy.

I don't get the Exum angle. Those who want him to get the playing time is putting all the vegemite into one basket, a basket that is no where near a slam dunk. That's not how you run a franchise.

ESPN's take on the Jazz and Hayward: "bda bdabdadaaada Gordon Hayward....bdaaadadada... Relationship with Brad Stevens... Bdadaaada blah blah.... Hayward and Boston (because we reaaaaalllllly want him in Boston not Utah)"

Rubio's pull-up jumper was so nasty this game. Towards the beginning shows how bad Rubio is attacking the rim. Goes 1-on-1 against Diaw and gets his shot blocked.

Then 70% of your cap is dedicated to Hill, Gobert, and Hayward, and Hill is the weak link of those three and there's a clear ceiling that's got Chris Paul painted on it.

This moves allows flexibility. I'm not enthusiastic about Hayward on a max deal, since it's a lesser value than most players on a max deal, but that's a better option with a guaranteed player to be on the roster, as opposed to Hill, and a player that will up Hayward's PPG and ranks highly on analytics.

Hill-Rubio-Exum
Hood-Mitchell
Hayward-Ingles-Johnson some

There's not enough time for Mitchell and/or Exum to develop.

Hood could be traded, as we need another PF. Otherwise JJ can get all his minutes at PF. Exum and Mitchell might have to bite the bullet until we flip somebody. Also, again, injuries.

It's not a perfect situation by any means, but Hill is an asset at the right price, and he's the only one of that Value we can acquire due to his bird rights. I'd be surprised if DL just decides to let an asset go for nothing if a reasonable deal could be made. It's also possible that they already know Hill is going elsewhere.

If your not excited to watch these two (Rudy/Rubio) play on the same team your not a basketball fan.

A team trying to make the playoffs with an injured point guard. This happens almost every year.

Just **** it and trade Hood Exum and next years first for Paul George.

Rubio
Hayward
George
Favors
Gobert

Get creative with the lineups obviously and if we could trade Favors instead of Hood then definitely do it.

Folks, if we indeed lose George Hill, then we lose a GREAT fit for the Jazz. Remember, the 31 year old George Hill was traded for Tauren 'Whodafuh' Prince. At the time George Hill was an underappreciated point in Indiana. When we got him, about half of ya'll were crying about it because you figured the draft pick would be worth more. Well, Tauranwhodafuh sucks. In fact, there was almost no player drafted after #12 who would have been a good player besides the surprise diamond Brogdan who came late in the draft.

Instead, we got Hill and I sploooooged all summer... franklin lit his log on fire...

Quin Snyder made a Hill into a stud. Hill helped lead the Jazz to the second round of the playoffs IN SPITE of only playing 49 games. Now he turned down $80 million for 4 years and we got Rubio (arguably significantly better by most standards) for $28 million. We save $52 million, get early bird rights, get the starting point guard who fueled one of the top offensive teams in the league. We get their motor and they get Jeff Teague (potentially) as his replacement. The same Jeff Teague that didn't make Indiana work.

If Quin could take Hill and make him into a borderline all star with only 49 games who was able to turn down $80/4 year deal... then what can we do with Rubio? Remember that even with Hill we were limited more than anyone wanted to ISO basketball. This year with JUAN STOCKTON at the point, we are going to be able to play that Euro style ball that we all loved when it clicked.

PS. This is the same Rubio who absolutely torched us on our home floor when we suffered what I remember to be our biggest loss at home and I think our biggest loss of the season.

PSS... we lost nothing to do it and saved enough to potentially sign an all star free agent! We actually saved $$$. LOTS and LOTS of $$$ while upgrading the position.

DL strikes again.

SPLOOOOOOOGBOOOOOOOOM!

If Rubio is the plan and Hill is gone, I think that's the writing on the wall for Favors. I'd expect him to be traded sooner than later.

They clearly did the Rubio deal with an eye towards the future, not making a dumb trade for a 1 year rental.
