— The Utah Jazz are involved in a lot of talk in the run-up to free agency. First, the Jazz received Ricky Rubio from the Minnesota Timberwolves for the Oklahoma City Thunder’s 2018 protected first round pick, absorbing him into their remaining cap space for the 2016-17 season before it expired at midnight. Second, they are about to be hit with a big offer for restricted free agent forward Joe Ingles.

Ingles, 29, seems set to receive an offer in the four-year, $60 million range from the Orlando Magic, per sources. Ingles was an underrated part of Utah’s success, averaging 7.1 points in 24 minutes per game while shooting 44.1 percent from three-point range. He’s also close with Gordon Hayward, Utah’s star free agent who also seems like a pretty strong possibility to leave at this point. The Boston Celtics and Miami Heat are expected to get meetings with Hayward in the next 48 hours before he meets with the Jazz and makes his decision, unless more teams get into the mix, which is always possible.

Good contract and an easy match for the Jazz I think. Ingles was our third best player last season since Hill missed so much time.

But bringing him back at this price and retaining Hayward will cost us Hood in the long run imo.

I love Ingles, but I wait until I know exactly what Hayward is doing before I really consider matching this deal. That's about 2x what I expected Jingles to get. Too bad the Jazz didn't extend him earlier as a long-term glue guy if he does get that kind of cash. Ouch.

not sure if it's a good contract or not cuz of current CBA.

member when hayward max was like 17-18 mil a year? crazy

Too bad the Jazz didn't give him a 5 year extension before his RFA season. Would have given a utah all sorts of freedom to be major players right now.

Anything less than a 5 y at max for Ingles is basically a steal tbh.

Cy right. Not sure if matching is the right move. I love Ingles, but that's going to be a lot of money in a couple years.

wtf is orlando doing? have no idea what they are trying to do. they have no direction

Rudderless why hire a new GM isf he does the same stupid **** the other guy does.

Orlando is reckless and ****ty. This goes up and beyond Portland shenanigans IMHO

Wonder what their owner is thinking, funding this type of serpent barrell ********.

Despite all the new management, maybe they think they have a new Hedo in Joe?

I'd be more worried about signing him in the case that we know that Hayward is leaving. Otherwise we lose most all of our small forward position. Ingles held his own in games that Hayward sat out and he filled in for him last season. Truthfully, I'd match either way now that Hill is no longer in the picture.

I was talking about Hayward. If the Jazz had him for two more years at under $20 million, they'd have the same financial flexibility that the Warriors had last year.

With a nice offer to Ingles it's going to be interesting to see what guys like Porter, Gay and Miles are offered.

Hope he takes a discount with us. I don't think he is worth that much.

I could see hood, favors, gobert, rubio, hayward, and JJ all being better than ingles. And even an outside chance of burks, exum, and mitchell being better than him.
Last year could have been his peak, fluke, lighting in a bottle year and even then it was only 24 minutes per game and 7 points per game.
Last season was a career high in minutes, field goal percentage, 3 point percentage (he went from 35 percent to 38 to FORTY FOUR percent) ppg etc in a contract year when hayward, hill, burks, and hood all missed time with injuries.

It would suck to give him big money and then have him revert back closer to his previous years and have hood or burks, or exum step up big time and then us not be able to re-sign them because of ingles contract.

But if hayward needs it to happen in order to stay then **** it, sign the man. Everyone loves him, me included.
