NBA Free Agency Moves in General (related to the Jazz, but not just moves made by the Jazz)

Is it just me or has Boston looked terrible on the negotiation front this offseason? Butler fell through, George, the S&T, rumors about flipping the 3rd pick didn't develop...

Nevermind.

Looks like we're at this point now.

I thought Jingles got paid to be Haywoods comic sidekick, starter or off the bench didn't matter.

It will be interesting to see how the jazz play this out. I think Quin preferred Joe as he starting sg with Haywood. Does Hood slide into Haywood's spot at sf? Can he guard sf?

Or does Jingles and hood split the sf minutes while Burks and Mitchel split the sg minutes. It's not fabulous, but it has some possibilities IF Burks and Hood can stay healthy.

Jingles and Hood will both start, I think. If they're playing against a power wing, that'll be Joe's assignment.

Nevermind.

They are still terrible in negotiation. Morris is a huge step back from Bradley. He's highly inefficient, a terrible rebounder and not a very good defender either. And some people around here were talking like Boston could get something awesome for Bradley, Smart or Crowder LOL

I'm not a Morris fan at all, but he is a on a great contract for 2 more years. He fits Boston's clear formula. They are doing something interesting by stock piling every athletic 6'8 wing possible. They are going to have 5 guys who can put a body on Lebron. It will just be a question of how they can guard Kyrie, especially with Bradley now gone.

He is actually a pretty good fit. We got Rubio, we need shooters, he was one of the best shooters last year.

And Miles was always very complimentary of Utah, especially Sloan. He's never said a negative thing about Utah iirc.

The fact that Miami just cleared room and spent a 2nd pick tells me they have JJ. He isnt going to leave to come to Utah unless they overpay (which would be a mistake).
Agree. Just saying that he is a guy that was out there that I would want.

We could definitely struggle to score next year with some of your proposed lineups...

The Spurs are getting Gay! That provides them with someone who could probably play that stretch 4. Spurs looking tough.

I'd rather stand pat and give all this extra time to our youth.

Who?

Exum will mainly play behind Rubio, probly play some 2-guard. Mitchell will do the same. Hood will wing. Ingles will play wing. Joe Johnson is a 4.

We easily have minutes for Miles, unless you want to play Burks over him. I don't. I want Burks gone.

So there is speculation that Detroit having just acquired Avery Bradley will be moving on from KCP.

Some say they may make him a UFA, others say they won't match.

I'm not convinced Detroit would just let KCP walk, but for fun lets say they are willing to let him go, does he do anything for the Jazz?

Probably not at the contract he'll demand (although the money is drying up now). Jazz seem relatively set at SG with Hood, Burks, Jingles and Mitchell there. Jingles and Hood might slide over to SF, but I'd rather roll with Mitchell (and save some money) than tie our hands with KCP.

They really dont have a choice unless they want to pay above 140 million for a low seed playoff team.

So what's the next move?

- Haywood is gone
- S&T talks are dead
- The free agency pool has basically dried up
- We are currently over the cap by 2 million. We can get 4 million under it by renouncing Withey and Mack. We can get 11 million under it by cutting Diaw as well. But is there anyone worth spending the money on?
- I think we are set at both guard spots. We need a stretch 4 who can play significant minutes, maybe another body on the wing for depth, and possibly a veteran backup C.

Maybe exploring our trade options is the best route for us? Idk. We're stuck in a ***** spot right now
