NBA Free Agency Moves in General (related to the Jazz, but not just moves made by the Jazz)

So what's the next move?

- Haywood is gone
- S&T talks are dead
- The free agency pool has basically dried up
- We are currently over the cap by 2 million. We can get 4 million under it by renouncing Withey and Mack. We can get 11 million under it by cutting Diaw as well. But is there anyone worth spending the money on?
- I think we are set at both guard spots. We need a stretch 4 who can play significant minutes, maybe another body on the wing for depth, and possibly a veteran backup C.

Maybe exploring our trade options is the best route for us? Idk. We're stuck in a ***** spot right now

I would turn my focus on trying to work out a S&T with Chicago for Mirotic. I highly doubt this is possible, but I'd gauge their interest.

Then I would turn my focus on CJ Miles.

so crowder will be happy to play with haywood? good luck

They have a good coach and IT is a strong leader. They can probably work it out. If they win it's hard for players to get too upset. I dont see Crowder losing too many minutes, he can play with Hayward. Hayward is probably the starting SG now more than anything.

• Trade Diaw for a contract that somebody is looking to shed and pick up an asset. Jazz can take up to $12 million back, or kick in Burks and take back up to $23 million.

• Split up the MLE and add two guys for about $4 million dollars each on one year contracts to add depth this year.

• Start Gobert, Favors, Hood, Mitchell and Rubio. JJ, Jingles, Exum and Neto round out the bench. Bolomboy and Bradley take turns bouncing between the Jazz and the Stars all season. Sometimes send them down together. Add a couple of wings/guards on two-way contracts. Wallace would probably be one of them.

• Get healthy and stay that way. That starting lineup I mentioned could be pretty damn good if they can all stay healthy.

• Pimp Hood and Mitchell hard for Most Improved Player and Rookie of the Year awards. Get some positive press going again for Utah. Mitchell has already been getting some buzz. Run hard with that.

• Continue to develop a top defense and grind it out mentality. Make every game opponents face against you extremely physical and exhausting. Use less iso sets and more pick and roll. Move off the ball. Run more, but don't lose focus of your physical half court offense. Jazz won't win shootouts with the roster as it's currently constructed.

• Bide your time for a deal to come around and be ready to jump on it when it does.

So there is speculation that Detroit having just acquired Avery Bradley will be moving on from KCP.

Some say they may make him a UFA, others say they won't match.

I'm not convinced Detroit would just let KCP walk, but for fun lets say they are willing to let him go, does he do anything for the Jazz?

The rumours proved true, Detroit did pull back their Qualifying offer. KCP is an unrestricted FA. This will jar some movement.

I think we still work out a sign and trade. It makes no sense for us to operate under the cap. Will be Hayward plus a second to Boston for Mickey.

I shop at the free agent thrift store for a Miles, illyasova, Jerebko, insert other name.... and wait for another team to need to move salary or something.

We are fine... Maybe move favors if something okayish comes along. I don't want a big splashy move. Makes some smart cost effective additions and roll forward.

Exactly the way that the Jazz should be thinking. I'd probably keep Favors though. If he gets healthy and stays that way he's worlds better than what the Jazz can get for that cost. If he can't get healthy, he backs up Rudy for the year and then leaves as a free agent next offseason.

I'd be happy to shoot Boston a 2nd rounder in return for Mickey + massive trade exception but I doubt it happens.

No reason for it not to. Something for nothing from Boston's perspective. Don't they have to move Rozier as well?

Was Reggie Bullock mentioned here? He was not extended a qualifying offer, does that mean we can get him?
I don't know about his game, but he seems to be able to shoot.
I have not seen his game, and don't know if he can defend.
I'm just curious and want your thoughts.

I apologize if he was covered somewhere else, I don't have the time to read the prior 50 pages.
Clearly he has issues if he's been in the league 4 years and is where he is.

Lindsey has talked about the dangers of making a move just to make a move.

I'm glad he is more patient than me. I am starting to feel panicked. Like the grocery store before the storm...

FYI, Caldwell Pope is statistically similar to Rodney Hood. He's a better defensive player and less of a creator than Hood.

The Utah Jazz sign free agent Cap Flexibility! The Jazz expect Cap Flexibility to be important part of the Jazz' assets in next year's free agency. Cap Flexibility will make 0 dollars over the next year.
