So what's the next move?
- Haywood is gone
- S&T talks are dead
- The free agency pool has basically dried up
- We are currently over the cap by 2 million. We can get 4 million under it by renouncing Withey and Mack. We can get 11 million under it by cutting Diaw as well. But is there anyone worth spending the money on?
- I think we are set at both guard spots. We need a stretch 4 who can play significant minutes, maybe another body on the wing for depth, and possibly a veteran backup C.
Maybe exploring our trade options is the best route for us? Idk. We're stuck in a ***** spot right now
• Trade Diaw for a contract that somebody is looking to shed and pick up an asset. Jazz can take up to $12 million back, or kick in Burks and take back up to $23 million.
• Split up the MLE and add two guys for about $4 million dollars each on one year contracts to add depth this year.
• Start Gobert, Favors, Hood, Mitchell and Rubio. JJ, Jingles, Exum and Neto round out the bench. Bolomboy and Bradley take turns bouncing between the Jazz and the Stars all season. Sometimes send them down together. Add a couple of wings/guards on two-way contracts. Wallace would probably be one of them.
• Get healthy and stay that way. That starting lineup I mentioned could be pretty damn good if they can all stay healthy.
• Pimp Hood and Mitchell hard for Most Improved Player and Rookie of the Year awards. Get some positive press going again for Utah. Mitchell has already been getting some buzz. Run hard with that.
• Continue to develop a top defense and grind it out mentality. Make every game opponents face against you extremely physical and exhausting. Use less iso sets and more pick and roll. Move off the ball. Run more, but don't lose focus of your physical half court offense. Jazz won't win shootouts with the roster as it's currently constructed.
• Bide your time for a deal to come around and be ready to jump on it when it does.
