RUMOR: Joe Ingles to be offered 4 years at $60M by Orlando

Ingles can't be signed til 7/6 so I'm not sure he could be there.

Gobert, Joe Johnson, Hood, Favors. These guys need to be there. Gobert is the fellow stud, Johnson the vet he very much respects, and the other two guys he's played with for quite a while now.

Ingles most certainly can. Teams are allowed to talk to FA's and agree to terms; they just can't make the contract official. IINM, the Miami group included an unsigned FA.

I would also say everyone else under contract who he knows too. Exum, Neto, Bolomboy, maybe Diaw. Make it feel like the whole team wants him. They appear all pretty damn tight. So show that by having everyone there. Maybe even Mitchell, Bradley and Rubio.
Don't forget Bear. Sheesh

Have to wonder.

If this rumor was true and Hayward knew coming into this past weekend that he was going to Boston - did it cost his best-friend and his family 8 million dollars?

Crazy if true.

Spencer Checketts is reporting Ingles left money on the table. Didn't really even negotiate and try to drive his price up.
Saint Cy of JFC wins the bet.

That's not a win. If i remember correctly he said Ingles would be offered 60M or 20 per or something like that. He's the one that made such a specific claim that there's almost no way he could ever prove unless Ingles actually signed for that.

Nah, I said he would have 15 per year on the table. Never said he would sign it. I won the bet a long time ago w/ the Orlando Magic rumor.

Several places. From example a quick web search pulled up this article from the Orlando Sentinel: http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/orlando-magic/os-sp-magic-summer-league-news-0702-story.html

Magic never intended to sign Joe Ingles to an offer sheet

Despite a rumor to the contrary, the Orlando Magic never intended to sign Utah Jazz restricted free agent Joe Ingles to an offer sheet, multiple sources with knowledge of the Magic’s thinking said Friday and Saturday.

And sure enough, multiple news outlets reported Saturday night that Ingles reached an agreement to remain with the Jazz.

According to USA Today Sports, Ingles and the Jazz settled on a four-year deal worth a total of $52 million.

Late Friday night, just before the start of free agency, The Washington Post reported Ingles “could have an offer in the four-year, $60 million range” from the Magic.

That rumor might have originated from Ingles’ camp to drive up Ingles’ asking price.

But regardless of where the rumor came from, it was inaccurate.

The Magic are reluctant to make any expensive long-term commitments.

Ingles' agent is Bartelstein. After the Hayward shenanigans, is there any doubt the agent may have leaked a false rumor to try to drive up Joe's price - and Bartlestein's commission?
DL is probably so disgusted with Bartlestein he's letting Zanik handle the details on this one.

Colton didn't post the most relevant part of the article. To make an offer in that range to Joe, Orlando would have needed to renounce a bunch of players and trade a couple more. They simply didn't have cap room to pay him 4/$60m

Yeah no one is going to admit to wanting a guy who denied you to go to Utah for less money.

So you're saying that there's no possible proof that would persuade you that you're wrong. LOL that you even asked me where the proof was and LOL that I took the time to re-find that Orlando Sentinel article.

Or just not sign Shelvin Mack and Jonathon Simmons.

From what I remember 29 teams offered the max to Joe and he said eff you guys I'm going to Utah for half that... I may be mis-remembering, but that is what it should have been.

No way for Cy to win the bet. He made a claim that is less provable if true than if not true. The fact that he thinks he won tells you a lot about Cy.

Love you Cy, but you didn't win and you pretty much can't win.
