What's new

Donald Fires FBI Director who's investigating Russian Election Hacking

Ok tools, if it's still nothing, why would he personally dictate an undeniably misleading statement for his son to read?

Gimme something solid here. I know "something solid" is not in your arsenal, so maybe just something new?

Put us in Donnie's head.

I can't. Mueller's investigation is likely to go on for a long time. I think a leak of this sort has to have come from people on that flight home from Europe, and that in itself is interesting.

Guys... this is weak.

I want to shoot Donald Trump. I don't want him to die, I want him to suffer, so probably somewhere meaty, like his bulbous orange buttox.

I want to [edited out].

Lol.

babe is free to post whatever PM I sent him. It might be close to 2 years old by now, and I don't have a copy. But, babe, if it bothers you that much, just spell it out because I only remember what I wrote in my last comment here.

I think it should be clear by now that Americans are sharply divided, and Trump is a fulcrum around which that division is pivoting. I don't really believe being angry at Trump is at all uncalled for, or at all out of line. Even if you call it hate-mongering, babe. I believe the man is damaging my country, damaging our democracy, demeaning the office of the Presidency, displaying no class, etc., etc. babe, don't you realize that millions of Americans feel this way? You mentioned once that people on my side of this divide would basically be swept aside. In so many words. But we are not going anywhere. And, as I have stated more then once, Trump's supporters are not going anywhere either. Nobody on either side is being swept away.

If I am guilty of hate-mongering, and hate-mongering on the President is, as you claim, un-American, then what is President Trump guilty of, when, for years he led the "Obama was not born in the United States" crap? Did that not help generate hatred of President Obama? A significant % of Republicans still believe Obama is a native born Kenyan, and was therefore an illegitimate President. Can that not be called hate-mongering of a President? If I am un-American merely for expressing anger toward Trump, what is Trump guilty of in view of promoting the lie about Obama that he promoted more then anyone?

You know, on more then one occasion, in more then one Trump thread, I have pointed out that we are screwing ourselves by partisanship that has reached toxic levels. But you are free to promote your love and admiration of Trump. Why am I not free to point out how dangerous I feel he is? I understand that it is next to impossible at the moment for liberals and conservatives to communicate. I even started a thread, long ago now, at Joe Bagadonuts' suggestion, on the differences between conservatives and liberals and the scientific studies pointing out actual physical differences in the brains of the two sides. Differences in the psychology of the two sides. I at least try to understand this is the case, and acknowledge that the side opposite my own exists and I find it very difficult to understand. Yet, you do not seem to understand that, and have actually spoken of the side you disagree with being swept aside.

Can you not see that one of Trump's biggest mistakes is that he never talks to any Americans other then his avid followers? It is as if he is the head of a cult, rather then a President for all Americans. Can you not st least understand that?

Hell mate after readin this I'm gonna have a nother glass of sake an make it Double yer honor. By gosh if yah caint git along jest shut the hell up. Cheers mate.

Look, I PM'd you about a member who blew off about wanting to shoot Trump. You said nothing in reply. Now he's back with a new game. Being oh so PC about how Trump doesn't care how cops treat murderers like MS 13 gangbangers.

Trump has no experience in police work and probably doesn't submit his offhand remarks to professional political speech massagers. OK, he talks like an idiot. He lives in a rhetorical bubble playing on the immediate moment for whatever it's worth, with little good

I want to clarify something here. This was not a "new game" on my part, babe. Police departments from coast to coast criticized Trump's remarks to the Long Island police officers. Including the International Association of Chiefs of Police. You talk like I was personally responsible for putting them all up to it. Why blame me? Why don't you get in touch with every police department involved and complain to them? Tell it to them, why don't you...

Why would Trump work with Fox News to create a fake news story about Seth Rich's death to try and distract from the Russian investigation?

http://www.npr.org/2017/08/01/54078...s-and-trump-supporter-created-fake-news-story

The Fox News Channel and a wealthy supporter of President Trump worked in concert under the watchful eye of the White House to concoct a story about the death of a young Democratic National Committee aide, according to a lawsuit filed Tuesday.

The explosive claim is part of the lawsuit filed against Fox News by Rod Wheeler, a longtime paid commentator for the news network. The suit was obtained exclusively by NPR.

Wheeler alleges Fox News and the Trump supporter intended to deflect public attention from growing concern about the administration's ties to the Russian government. His suit charges that a Fox News reporter created quotations out of thin air and attributed them to him to propel her story.

Why would Trump himself write a misleading memo describing his son's meeting with Russian officials? Gee, could he be hiding something? Would any of you right wingers accept this if a black democrat or a blonde woman were doing this nonsense?

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/note...afting-sons-misleading-memo/story?id=48962972

President Trump personally dictated his son's initial, misleading statement about the meeting Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner and Paul Manafort had with a Russian lawyer, The Washington Post reports. Two senior-level sources confirmed this to ABC News.

Oh, and he remains silent on the largest expulsion of American diplomats in history, over 750. He hasn't even tweeted about this.

And why hasn't he signed the bipartisan bill with sanctions against Russia? It's just sitting there on his desk.

I've never seen a President kiss Russia's *** this much. What a spineless traitor. I guess he's found another loophole in our system. Congress can't override his veto if he just keeps it rotting on his desk, unsigned.

State Dept. slams Russia for expelling US diplomats
Close
Russian President Vladimir Putin said Sunday that 755 U.S. diplomats will be expelled from Russia by Sept. 1, according to an interview on Russian television.

The expulsions had been announced Friday in response to a new law passed in Congress that expanded sanctions, but Sunday's statement was the first time a large number of Americans were confirmed as involved.

And why hasn't he signed the bipartisan bill with sanctions against Russia? It's just sitting there on his desk.

He's only got 10 days. After that, it's considered law--unless Congress is not in session at that point in which case it's a "pocket veto". But there are ways to overcome a pocket veto as well.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pocket_veto#United_States

A pocket veto occurs when a bill fails to become law because the president does not sign the bill and cannot return the bill to Congress within a 10-day period because Congress is not in session. Article 1, Section 7 of the U.S. Constitution states:

"If any Bill shall not be returned by the President within ten days (Sundays excepted) after it shall have been presented to him, the same shall be a Law, in like manner as if he had signed it, unless the Congress by their Adjournment prevent its return, in which case it shall not be a Law."

The Constitution limits the president's period for decision on whether to sign or return any legislation to ten days (not including Sundays) while the United States Congress is in session. A return veto happens when the president sends a bill, along with his objections, back to the house of Congress from which it originated. Congress can override the veto by a two-thirds vote of both chambers, whereupon the bill becomes law. If Congress prevents the bill's return by being adjourned during the 10-day period, and the president does not sign the bill, a "pocket veto" occurs and the bill does not become law. Congress can adjourn and designate an agent to receive veto messages and other communications so that a pocket veto cannot happen, an action Congresses have routinely taken for decades. If a bill is pocket vetoed while Congress is out of session, the only way for Congress to circumvent the pocket veto is to reintroduce the legislation as a new bill, pass it through both chambers, and present it to the President again for signature. On the other hand, Congress may override a regular veto without introducing new legislation through the process described in the U.S. Constitution. James Madison became the first president to use the pocket veto in 1812.[6]

Interesting.

So why do you think trump hasn't commented about this bill or Russian expulsion of American diplomats? Why does it seem like he's dragging his feet on signing this bill?

OK, babe, re-reading this I see I apparently said something to you about shooting Trump. Assuming I said that, it's very likely I was trying to say something that I believed would piss you off. I know I don't want to shoot him, and I don't want to get up some morning and read that he's been shot. But I can see myself trying to piss you off and saying something that I felt would do the trick. I have had some angry exchanges with you here. But I've also wracked my brain trying to understand where you are coming from. So, my attitude toward you has changed over time. But look, if you think I said something to you in a PM that warrants banning me, well, go for it. I'm an adult. I'll take responsibility for my words and actions. I honestly do not remember. There was no "laborious" effort on my part to deny the truth, if what you are saying is true. I don't remember saying anything like that, but, as I said, I can wish a lot of bad things when I'm pissed to the hilt. So, if you want to spell it out exactly, embarrass me, get me banned, I'm fine with that. I think I remember saying to you that we would meet on the battlefield some day. Did I not? I'm trying to remember here. This was early on in what became, for me, and people like me, a national nightmare. I don't really want to meet you on a literal battlefield, of course. And I really would like to find a way past the divisiveness parylizing this country. But feel free to hate me to your heart's content.

I don't hate you. I hardly even really "hate" the ideas I oppose or try to discredit or supplant in a discussion.

I considered your PM a sort of announcement that you'd signed up with a George Soros political activism group to deconstruct America. I don't remember it much better than you do.

I welcome a more stable, long-term debate on things in more moderate rhetorical terms.

Red, in regard for his request I post his PM. Apparently I deleted it. Red's recollections above and elsewhere that I've seen are sufficient to confirm the basics. I understand some people pop off and say stuff and deserve to be judged on a more long-term scale, and I'm just glad Red is still talking and is using more substantially appropriate rhetoric.

As I've said elsewhere, it strikes me as apparent that there is a statistically unusual, extraordinary collection of folks in here who seem to be united along some lines advanced by change-agent political organization, such as George Soros might be donating money to promote. In saying such things, I'm sorta "popping off" as much as anyone. +

Still, I object to political correctness "gangs" of any kind piling on the occasional "troll" who tries to provoke discussions that don't fit the hypothetical agendas/causes, or which challenge their premises.

I'd think a Utah-based Utah Jazz fans site would have a few more devotees of W. Cleon Skousen or ideological defenders of conservatism..... and even some actual Republicans besides Colton and Jonah... the kind of Republicans that vote for Mike Lee maybe.

Any ideas of how this site could be moderated so that folks like that would stick around?

Because he's a damn Ruski.

Trump has a lot in common with Putin. First and most importantly, he puts his country first. I find Putin an interesting study. His KGB gig was as a diplomat in Germany. He speaks German and was very much a Western sort of thinker. If he uses any communist rhetoric at all, it is the lowest kind of ideological common denominator stuff that is hardly different from British socialism, speaking to the common needs of common people. Probably has not read Karl Marx or ever really been a communist.

Putin is about as communist as Trump is conservative, in ideological terms. They are both more practical and concerned with results than ideas.

I think Trump and Putin can get along pretty good. I think Russia is a more important ally than Great Britain.

The United States would be smart to treat Russia and China as allies and leave our sordid little romance with Britain in the closet.....

The British started WWI and WWII so far as I'm concerned, with stupid geopolitical gamesmanship, and are the main backers of militarism and further geopolitical manipulations today that could start another great war.

The worst thing I can say about Hillary or Obama is that they were/are British puppets, as are our major media TrumpDumpsters.

The hate Russia panic should be dumped. The bill should not have been passed. The people in both parties who voted for it are all just unthinking ignoramuses so far as world geopolitics is concerned, and have been duped by British influences along many lines.

In Russia, it was viewed as something Trump would do because in political terms "he had to", but deplorable and insulting nonetheless.

kinda funny. Here we have conservatives who think our media hype on Russian influence is un-American, who actually are saying stuff favorable to Russia. Used to be our dems were in bed with Russians. Even Hillary.

While Utah's population and demographics would lead one to believe that in any given place there would be a good representation of conservatives it has been my experience that they prefer the echo chamber to an open debate.

Trump supporters even more than your average conservative due to Trump's direct appeal to conspiracy theorists and those that believe the "main stream media" is in whole controlled by some shadowy enterprise to provide "fake news" to shape our world view according to their fabricated reality.

What use would a Trump supporter have in engaging George Soros's paid propaganda agents on a basketball fan site?

Babe, you're implying that many, if not most, of the vehement anti-Trump discussion is directed top-down and paid for by liberal power brokers. It is beyond silly. You, yes YOU, need to pull you ****ing head out of the sand and face the reality that Trump pisses people off all by himself.

Let's see, he is anti-immigration, anti-immigrant. That is likely to piss people off. Even the white folks who many anti-immigrant white folks think their world view benefits. Many of us (white folks) have deep connections to immigrants in one way or another. Connections, relationships that are stronger and that matter to us more than our connection to being "white."

He mocks a disabled reporter. That's plain offensive to many many people. It also shows a low character and poor judgement.

He displays misogynistic attitudes in almost everything he does. Half the country is women, most of the other half have women in our lives we care about more than we care about political parties and Trump.

He does not seem to be running a competent White House. As someone elected on his ability to get things done and make good deals he is failing here the most. Even someone who supported him based on his assumed strengths in these areas has to be getting a little weary. For those of us who look upon his brand of bluster and bravado with keen suspicion, our assumptions as to his actual ability to do business are being further confirmed every day. He is a fake! I mean, one could simply look at 40 years of investment that substantially unperformed the market and have a good notion that he isn't actually a very smart business person.

His self contradiction is a major red flag. How can one trust a person who contradicts himself as much as Trump does? We don't need the media to lie about what Trump says and does. We just need to listen to him one day and then listen to him the next. It is mathematically impossible that he's telling the truth most of the time when he changes his story as often as he does. Many of us don't like dishonest people.

For those of us who take a good deal of pride in our country it is hard to support a person who is damaging our closest relationships with our nations allies and harder still to watch the U.S. become a laughingstock. The U.S. is in just about as bad of shape as I've seen in my lifetime. I feel FAR less secure from foreign threats since Trump has taken office. I hold that against Trump in a deep and personal way. I care about the people serving in our military and I think he is putting them at unnecessary risk due to his diplomatic incompetence.

Many of us have a connection, one way or another, to the LGBTQ community. When our LGBTQ friends and family are attacked, the way Trump is attacking them, we rally to their side. We will not stand by and watch our friends and family be bullied, insulted and made to be second-class citizens. People in the LGBTQ community are already at an elevated risk of being assaulted and killed. Having the President of the United States diminish their status further, emboldening their adversaries, is inexcusable.

For those in the environmental movement this administration is actively attempting to dismantle hard-fought protections and regulations. Trump is making no friends in the environmental community.

For minorities in the U.S. who face additional hurdles to success, Trump has begun trying to re-erect hurdles that it has taken generations of sacrifice to remove. Trump is no friend to minorities.

Many trump supporters cry stupid little snowflake tears about how unfair everyone is being to Trump. It's pretty ****ing simple. If you don't want to be attacked so much don't make so many enemies. It's too late for Trump. He thought he could appeal to low and middle class white people and that would be that. Well, many of us have connections outside of our "white bubble" and we are informed by those relationships. We see what Trump is doing to people and we don't like it.

I don't need to be paid to feel this way. I hate Trump for free.

Saw it today.

I also saw how in his statement as he signed the sanctions he insulted congress and blamed them for setting relations between us and Russia back.

Unbelievable.

He went so far as to call sections of the bill "unconstitutional".

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/president-trump-signs-russia-sanctions-bill/story?id=48985465

Apparently because he sees any limitation on Executive branch power as unconstitutional. In general, the modern era has seen an expansion of Executive branch power at the expense of the Legislative branch. But, of course, the authoritarian temperament of Trump is seen as one of his most worriesome traits, and his spin shows a lack of understanding where the Constitution is concerned:
