How long until Donovan Mitchell becomes a starter?

Like not due to injury, I will say next year.

Think he replaces Ingles next year and they move Hood to the 3.
 
it's tough because he has tons of talent, but he's so young

and though he's long, he's still short for everything but the 1

just like Dwyane Wade ;)

the funny thing is that if he starts at the 2, he'll be the first player under 6'8 that has started there for a while, goneon, hood, and ingles are all 6'8. all more of a Sf size really.
 
I don't think Mitchell starts all year. I think Hood has his best year yet. Much more consistent. I'm guessing around 15.7 ppg. 38% from three. TS% of 56%. And we're in a pickle at year end on how to proceed with Hood, Exum and Favors all having looked good.
 
I put in 2 years but I didn't really read the poll and meant next year.

DM's attitude lends him to being a good sixth man. It might work out exactly like this.
 
Outside of injuries, in 2018/19. He probably should start sooner, but he won't. And he doesn't have to; he can still get a lot of minutes off the bench.

But I think DL may look to trade Hood unless he can be extended at a reasonable price. Just can't pay everyone and Jazz will have a very good guard tandem of Rubio, Exum and Mitchell. All three are plus defenders; Hood is not.

Of course, Dante also wants to start. So DL may have quite the problem with 4 "starters" for just 2 positions. Ingles would probably be ok coming off the bench at the 2/3, but could Hood start and guard SF's?
 
there are a lot of considerations that come into play here

- How does hood play? if he continues to be inconsistent or even struggles from 3 I could see a move to bench
- how does exum play? If he starts to play up to his potential he will demand more minutes.
- How does Ingles handle be more of a focal point of the offense but of the opposing team defense? I don't see him getting as many open 3s as he has received in the past.
- Will the Jazz be winning? If they are winning not much will change. If they start to lose I see all kinds of potential change
- How will DM handle the pace and speed of an actual NBA game? This is not summer league and it is hard to adjust at first. This is the main reason I see next year.
- Can rubio's shooting keep teams honest? If Rubio is missing 3s defenses will slough off him and clog passing lanes and not give open 3s.
