Chad Ford's Mock Draft - Utah Jazz Take Brandon Knight And Alec Burks

The way this draft is starting to look Knight and Burks really might be the best we can get out of it. Pretty much no chance of trading out of this draft with how many guys are going back to school

I'd wager a decent sum of money at this point that either Knight or Biyombo will be there when the Jazz are on the clock. That is, unless we get leapfrogged by 2 teams... which would suck

I'm wondering if Knight might be turn out to be the best player in this draft.

He is very young, smart and has good fundamentals in place. I could definitely see that being the case after a few years of development.

Why a lottery pick on Burke if Hayward is the future 2?

I've come around on Burks simply because of the high-reward factor. His ability to finish at the rim is special, and he looks like a good rebounding guard. I wouldn't take him at 6, but if he is there at 12 then I wouldn't hesitate. If he can learn to play good system defense and develop a good set jumper (something Wade had to learn, fyi), then he'd be a good asset.

I don't think you worry about the Hayward vs. Burks issue for awhile. I'd give Burks a long stay in the second unit until he improved on the areas I mentioned, and if/when he deserved more minutes I'd slide Hayward to the 3 so that both could be on the floor. It'd be a good problem if they were both effective slashers and playmakers because we could have one on the floor at all times.

Ford has a revised Mock Draft that is ESPN Insider only. Can someone please post the Jazz portion here?

Still Knight and Burks. The revision was because of T-Jones pulling out of the draft.

Correct. There may have been some slight changes in the later picks, but in essence the only significant change in the mock was Marcus Morris replaced T-Jones.

After what Jason Terry did to Lakers I might lean toward Knight with Jazz #6.
He's very similar to Terry.
A combo do it all guard.

Jason Terry and Brandon Knight are both listed at 6'4". So unless I am taking your post the wrong way they are the same size.

Most places I've seen say Terry is 6'2" - 6'3" while Knight measures at 6'3" - 6'4". I am also confused by the post about being 4 inches shorter. It makes it sound like Knight is 4 inches shorter than Terry. If that's the case, I'd like to know when Terry became 6'7" - 6'8".

This is Jason Terry's bio
Jason Terry:
Date of birth September 15, 1977 (age 33)
Place of birth Seattle, Washington
Nationality American
High school Franklin (Seattle, Washington)
Listed height 6 ft 2 in (1.88 m)
Listed weight 181 lb (82 kg)

Given how well a 30+ year-old Jason Terry was doing in the Laker series, I thought it might boost Jimmer Fredette's stock.

While both are shooting guards in point guard-bodies, Terry has much more footspeed and lateral quickness than Fredette. Terry isn't a lockdown defender - but he is more adequate than Fredette projects to be and played point guard at a fairly high-level before assuming the 6th-man role with Dallas.

Can never say never, but unless KOC knows something we don't about Jimmer can't say I see Jimmer at #6..

Unless KOC was looking to trump last year's 'Hayward' magic act....

True, but now Terry has slowed down a lot and is basically a spot-up shooter.
