What's new

would memphis have traded Marc Gasol for Dwill

damm i really wanted marc gasol.
i think memphis would have traded gasol for dwill(i know salaries dont matchup so far)

so it wouldnt be a straight up deron for gasol trade some fillers maybe.

but i think gasol is a vital piece to a championship team.

now their is no way to get him

favors has been only potential so far. he might pan out he might not.

He showed us he is a player in his rookie season. Now the real question is, will he pan out to be an All-Star? It's safe to say he's already a skilled player who is not a bust, and will play a long time in this league. Will he stay with us? Will he become a star? Those are the only two questions I have with Favors.

Both he and the Hayward showed they are NBA players this past year. Now how far will they go...

Gasol is what, an RFA after this season? so you would have wanted to trade your franchise player for a player Portland is just going to sign to a massive, frontloaded contract? Im much much happier with this deal

Agreed! And If there was another deal on the table, id much rather of taken a package deal for Dwill with the Clippers. Bledsoe, Gordon, AMinu, Kamen & there Minny pick for Okur, Dwill

Jazz wouldn't trade Williams inside their own conference. Nor do I think the Clippers would have given up THAT much for a guy who only had one year left on his contract. It's not like the Clippers have been a landing spot or been great at retaining All Stars.

1) They would've.
2) Gasol is a considerably better player than Favors RIGHT NOW.
3) Favors may end up being better than Gasol, and that's saying nothing about the picks the Jazz got, or Devin Harris.

NJ Deal > Gasol

I doubt the Jazz wanted to trade Dwill within the conference also. Much better to send an elite player to the East where he doesnt have the chance to hurt us in the playoffs for years to come.

KOC is so tight lipped I wouldn't want him going around telling everybody Deron was for sale. Many would start to openly consider the pros and cons of a deal for deron and free agency next year might've made it impossible to decide where he got traded. Like it did for Melo.

I mean, Jersey ultimately wouldn't deal for Melo because Melo wouldn't agree to sign with them. But after NY go Melo, Jersey was still feeling the burn from losing him so they, like a stupid gambler, tried to recoup their losses and optimistically pounced on a deal that could very well blow up in their face. Earlier they greatly weighed the risk of the acquired star not re-signing with them. But losing makes a gambler emotional and the earlier reason goes out the door. I don't expect Deron will re-sign with them. The nets were tilting and KOC pounced. It was a thing of beauty. I'm happy the Nets didn't heed Kenny Rogers' advice. they suck.

I know Bucher's opinion around here isn't worth much, but he has said on at least one occasion that the Jazz could have got more for Williams if they made it known he was available. I disagree, but can anyone come up with a better deal that isn't unrealistic?

Except that:
1) Deron's better than Melo (in terms of winning, at least when healthy)
2) Lopez is better than Amare because he's got the sky above him and he's a smart player
3) NJ didn't sell the farm
4) Deron is under contract a year longer

I don't think NJ lost in the trade (like I think NY ****ing ****ed themselves for the next 10+ years), but we'll have to see how it played out. There is a realistic possibility that Dwight Howard ends up in NJ, and depending on how the new CBA plays out, the Nets might even be able to keep Lopez AND get Dwight (which would be perfect since Lopez doesn't need to play the low-post and gives Dwight space while Dwight can easily guard PFs, besides that you can always have one of them on the court) in free agency.

I we were offered this then one more reason why KOC is a complete moron. We could have gotten Gordon. And got rid of Okurs contract. That is a win/win.
