What's new

Tony Bradley

Some people were thinking he'd be a lottery pick if he decided to stay at UNC. He looks like a dude that won't lose a game for you.

You are correct. Most experts thought he should have stayed in school for another year. Critics are just so impatient. Bradley is clearly a player who isn't expected to contribute for a couple of years. And that's perfect; Jazz have Udoh under contract as a backup to Rudy. Bradley can play 30 mins/per in the GLeague and develop his game. What I hope happens is Favs recovers and re-signs with the Jazz. Bradley can then step in as the backup 4/5 in 2 seasons.

He has a relatively good feel for the game. Hopefully he's very passionate about playing basketball.

That's the key. Let's get more players like Rudy, Ingles, Rubio, Mitchell, etc. Players who are driven to improve. Maybe you don't always end up with the best. But you will get players who maximize their talents and are a net positive to the team. I think that has to be an important part of the draft and free agent equation. Though they moved on, you could put Hayward and Hill in that list. Passive players like Lyles just don't belong.

IMO it's tough to evaluate non-shooting bigs in summer league. Their style just doesn't work well there for some reason.

It doesn't work because you've got too many guards looking to make plays for themselves and there is no real system being ran.

Bradley is a project who hopefully pans out. Given how he looked in summer league games that I saw I expect he will get minutes with the Stars. I have no problem with the pick but he is definitely not ready for prime time.

would mechanical be a better word. He is not fluid.

I don't think he's mechanical, he just can't do anything with the ball yet. I mean, he's a really young, big guy. He's not going to have many skills like shooting or putting the ball on the floor and making plays. Maybe he could post-up a little since he's so big and has decent touch, but post-ups are few and far between in summer league.

Again, I disagree. He just can't jump high. He moves very well laterally for a guy his size and for it being his first time shooting midrange jumpers in game, it was a very smooth release.

I dont think a single player scored on him in the post and his pick n roll coverage was better than expected.

Bradley is really good. He had good summer league stats. We should give him a max contract so he isn't angry with us when he becomes a restricted free agent and has to look elsewhere for his market value before we match it.

Lol. About time for spazz to get some ice cream to the dome again. He's getting off the rails

Jarron (a 24th pick) had a 10-year career with 0.88 winshares/48 (Basketball Reference), and Ostertag (a 28th pick) had an 11-year career with 1.10 winshares/48. If we get anything similar to this out of Bradley, it will be a major win.

Sad, but true.
