What's new

Houston..

I read something from NOAA that these hurricanes are not due to climate change!

that the occurrence of them is just as often as the 50's or something, and that they do not really get stronger.

Any chance Mar-A-Lago will be flooded?

Bigly! You have never seen so much flooding. They know how to do flooding. Historic turn-out for flooding.

Serious question... Do you believe/accept NOAA's position on global warming? Or just when it validates your own already held beliefs?

I have a mistrust of government and government agencies. but for the purpose of discusion, if they say MAN MADE "global climate warming cooling change" is real. and they say huricanes are not a result of that. people who believe this mythical thing that climate should always remain the same. should accept it

There is a difference between climate change measured with the geological time scale, and climate change measured within a human scale, and changes in that climate since the beginning of industrialization. It's for this reason, that some scientists denote the existence of the Anthropocene to distinguish this period of the most recent geologic age, the Pleistocene. I know of no paleontologist who would ever say climate is unchanging through time, anymore then geologists would deny plate tectonics, and changes in climate wrought through time by means of plate tectonics. The area where I live was located in tropical latitudes some 300 million years ago, and the fossils I find here reflect that fact. Plate tectonics has changed the location of my home, and with it, its climate.

Again, you may be the only one suggesting the existence of a "myth" that the climate has not changed when viewed from the perspective of the geologic time scale. My home was also under an ice sheet nearly 2 miles thick more then 20,000 years ago. The continental ice sheet did not melt back and retreat overnight. It took time.

Change wrought by industrialization, by human activity, has been more rapid then change in climate through geologic time. Nobody is saying that climate always remains the same. I believe you're misunderstanding climate change when measured by different time scales...

Didn't y'all hear? Rush said yesterday that these hurricanes are fake news. Alex Jones blasted the government for not killing the storm with technology.

Ladies and gentlemen, the intellectual power of the GOP!

Well, Alex needs to make up his mind. He believes the government creates things like hurricanes and tornados. So, why should he expect the government to kill storms? Poor guy gets his conspiracies all discombobulated at times....

In other words, just because the climate has changed and varied through the vastness of geologic time(and the mythology you cite that the climate stays the same does not even exist; you are apparently inventing that myth), does not mean that humans have not and are not influencing the climate. The one conclusion, that humans don't influence climate change, does not follow logically from the other, that climate changes through geologic time. There is no mutual exclusion here, and your argument lacks logic. And you're even willing to invent a myth that no climatologist, geologist, or paleontologist subscribes to, simply to serve your own illogical conclusion.

You didn't answer my question. Without either of us looking at their website and reading their scientists' statements on overall human-caused climate change (assuming they have some), I'd really like to know beforehand whether you'd accept those statements or not. I mean, it certainly seemed like you were accepting of their position on hurricanes, were you not? So do you accept them as experts or not? If so, I'll see what statements they've made. Or if not, please explain why would you accept them as experts on causes of hurricanes but not on climate as a whole?

Huh? The clear myth is that the climate MUST be managed to keep it unchanged. Preposterous, but hey, we live in the world of jobless millenials an there social media so why not jest throw out all logic an science an belief in government created miracles that are not possible. Kumbaya my brother.

Sorry, one more thing... If not NOAA or other governmental agencies, who WOULD you trust and accept as an expert in climate change. Is there some non-governmental group of researchers that you do trust? If so, who would that be?

why does it matte rif i accept it. the person i am trying to argue accepting it.

i am not a christian, but when i have an agrument with a christian, i use the bible to argue the,mm. not the koran or some hindi script!

i only use the bible and search for contradiction in their bible to argue with them.

seeing as "aman made global climate warming cooling change epic volcano meltdown" is like a religion to these people. i use their "bible" to argue them.

NOAA says "man made blah blah blah blah blah" is real, i use them to tell the people in here their god said, hurricanes are not intensifying because of "man made hogwash".

so i do not trust noaa, but that does not mean they are totally wrong, after all the world isnt black and white, left and right, right or wrong, good or evil.

also yes men has an effect on his environment and climate.
all these people who think forest fires are getting worst because of "man made" climate change are retards. but forest fires are increasing because of influences by men!

the influence to kill forest fire to soon. because a purging forest fire is natural. so men is stopping something natural from happening. so the next fire is gonna be bigger thanks to man. and man is able to stop it again, the next one gets bigger. until one day the forest fire will be so big that it will be devestating and unable to stop. and retards will scream for more government control over "climate".

yes we make a city warmer because of what we do, we influence our climate and enviroment.
but co2 is not the ned all be all of all evils

Since easily identified human activity can and is influencing the climate, human beings attempting to alter that same activity, in the interest of mitigating human influence on climate, can hardly be called a myth.

How did you like his answer lol?

this is getting out of hand, now an earthquake struck off the mexico coast. their might be a tsunami!

guess we need to tax c02 and sign the paris climate accords

Damn plate tectonics. Just our luck we live on a living, geologically active planet. I swear, if this hadn't been happening for hundreds of millions of years, I'd say those dastardly globalists have their fingers on an earthquake button....
