Will being smaller help his jump shot have better touch?

Yes. By reducing his mass he reduces the amount of gravitational force on the ball, therefore increasing the range of his jumpshot. If he gets skinny enough he may be able to hit the corner three.

I'll take the 52% shooting Favors and 65% shooting Gobert punishing 35% 3 pt shooting small ball lineups all day everyday.Jazz will make smallball lineups change for their punishing style of play. This is what the Jazz season will be about.

Hopefully Mitchell and Exum can hound them into shooting 33% from 3 on average.

Cy, just wondering with this picture: you still going for the wide shoulders/low shoulders theory on how DM ends up with the same standing reach as Neto (but a 6" longer wingspan)?

Wingspan is the most important criteria on defense for shot-blockers but not perimeter defenders. The all-time leader in steals had relatively short arms. It's quick feet and quick hands.

With Favors and Gobert both at the peak defensively inside it will allow our wings to roam way more than most teams. In that case, Hood, Ingles, Mitchell, Exum, all of them can focus on chasing shooters off the 3 pt line and then into the teeth of the defense. I anticipate our defense being all-world/generational this season, in most all areas. It is shaping up to be a perfect storm that few teams will be able to contend with.

Now if we can just figure out a way to score at the same time...

I'd respectfully disagree. Perimeter length can be very disruptive to an offense, not only with steals and deflections, but also with the passes it prevents.

If you are AI, IT or Nash, you have very quick feet and quick hands, but some of the worse defenders. Mostly because of their size.

Steals are a poor proxy for overall defensive effectiveness. You can gamble and get steals and often get burned being out of position. It's the guys who get steals while maintaining good fundamentals and taking smart (not reckless) risks, who are the best perimeter defenders.

I like this new optimistic LogGrad.
