Following Potential 2018 Draftees

This draft has the chance to be one of the best top heavy drafts in a long time

Players that could go #1

Luka Doncic - a game mature well beyond his years. Biggest question mark is how high is his ceiling
Marvin Bagley III - Is the modern day big man. Can he do it at the next level
Michael Porter - at 6'10" he is the best scorer of the bunch
DeAndre Ayton - the game looks effortless for him.
Mohammed Bamba - This is what the modern day NBA center looks like. (Thanks rudy)

Players Just on the outside looking in but great talents

Robert Williams - If can can hit the corner 3 with his athleticism watch out.
Jaren Jackson - Beatuiful outside game modern day 4/5
Colin Sexton - Could be in the top 5 hyper competitive
Troy Brown - 6'7" 2 guards that play defense and shoot
Miles Bridges - Could be mentioned in the top 5 if he was 6'9" PF but right now he is a 6'6" SF/PF. High flyer
Kevin Knox - Great prospect
Trevon Duval - If only he had a jumper
Wedell Carter - High flying big man could be top 5
Justin Jackson - perfect measureables
Chimezie MEtu - is he a 4 or a 5?

The oh so close players that could move up

Emmuel akot
nick richards
Jarred vanderbilt
Gary Trent Jr
Rui Hachimura
Killian tillie
Mikal Bridges
Bruce Brown
Hamidou Diallo
Rodions Kurucs
Mitchell Robinson
Alonzo trier

On the bubble players

Rawle Alkins
Mo Wagner
Brandon McCoy
Grayson Allen
Omer Yurstseven
PJ Washington
Deng Adel
Isaac Bonga
De'Anthony Melton
Shake Milton
Aaron Holiday

I am sure that I am missing people especially some of the foreign players but this draft is loaded with talent.

The Ringer has an early 2018 mock lottery. They have the Jazz taking Lonnie Walker at 14.

Shooting guard, Miami, freshman (6-foot-4, 206 pounds, 18 years old)

Chau: Walker projects to be the kind of wing the NBA can never have enough of: an explosive, multifaceted offensive threat with serious defensive potential. The Miami-bound prospect spent much of high school exploiting his powerful first step to get into the lane for midrange floaters and layups around the rim, but by his senior year had become a capable off-ball player with a confident 3-point jumper. His versatility on offense will only expand as his ball-handling catches up to his considerable physical gifts.

It’s Walker’s defensive potential that might be the crown jewel of the package, however. Sporting a wingspan close to 6-foot-11, Walker will have the length to be a nuisance at three different positions. He’ll have a good mentor in Bruce Brown, a burly, defensive-minded athlete who will likely be a first-round pick after returning for his sophomore season at Miami. The framework of Jim Larranaga’s pressure defense should help round out what, to this point, is still a theoretical aspect of Walker’s skill set. He’ll give college basketball fans yet another reason to tune into the ACC this season. And chances are good that he’ll have the same kind of draw at the highest level. He has all the tools to be the all-around wing teams are bending over backward to find.

Sounds like Donovan Mitchell

I was going to say the same thing.

You cant look at who draft sites have teams taking as most are just ranking prospects. Team needs cant be determined at this time. Besides the last thing the Jazz need is another guard.

I expect the Jazz to take a forward either a PF or a Small forward or a combo of both.

Agree. Unless the Jazz lose Gobert for an extended period of time, they're going to be in the playoffs and won't be drafting late lottery without a trade. That said, I could picture Mitchell transitioning to the PG in a year or two where his strength, length and elevation will be a bigger advantage for him. Dennis Lindsey has talked about developing Mitchell's skills and athleticism using Russel Westbrook as an example. Big wings like Knox, Vaderbilt, Justin Jackson are all good targets for the Jazz.

When the Jazz drafted Mitchell, DL said there were three players that they singled out and really wanted to target in this draft. Mitchell was one of them. I'm going to give a wild guess that the other two were Dennis Smith and Lauri Markkanen.

The Jazz will draft BPA who isnt a center.

And that is almost certainly going to be Jacob Evans.

I think Jarred Vanderbilt might be a better fit in the Jazz system. He is drawing comparisons to Lamar Odom with his ability to dribble and pass at 6'8".

Vanderbilt isn't much of a shooter right now, unfortunately, and his athleticism is going to come across average or slightly above unless he really works on his body. I don't think he's on par with Knox and Justin Jackson right now.

Justin Jackson is my guy right now with Killian Tillie and Rui Hachimura second 8-)

Kevin Knox plays a bit loose, and by that I mean his handle is loose, his shooting motion is a bit loose, his body language is loose and casual, his motor is on/off. He's just turning 18 though. I think that will improve with maturity. It's obvious he's just a kid, a bit like Exum when he got drafted.

Justin Jackson is much more mature and physically developed. He's 2 1/2 years older than Knox and will be 21 1/2 when he gets drafted next year. Jackson is really built and plays really mature for a 19/20 year-old.

I just can't bring myself to debate prospects until they start playing. I just think about everyone here talking up Andrew Harrison before the crashing realization that he was dumpster juice.

True. I was hyped about Alex Poythress for the Jazz a few years ago. It's just that there's kind of a hole in the middle of the Jazz's roster that the draft probably has to fill, so I get ahead of myself.
