Kap sucks. That's why he's not playing. Unless a team designs their offense around him rolling out and running, they won't be successful. Kap can't hit receivers from the pocket. His effectiveness pretty much declined every season after opposing teams learned how to limit the threat of him running. But much like Michael Sam, Kaepernick has turned this into a discrimination/collusion issue.

I agree Cutler isn't a good QB. But what is better for a team to do, revamp their entire offense until an injured starter returns or put in a guy who is going to run the same style offense as a "placeholder?"

I think simplifying the issue by saying he sucks is wrong. He threw 16 touchdowns and just 4 interceptions last year despite having awful weapons around him and playing under the pressure he created. Were they 1-10 when he started? Yes. But that had more to do with a league worst defense than his quarterback play.

Having said that, he was average at best (59% completion percentage) and with the media baggage he'd bring, I don't blame NFL teams for not signing him. It probably just wouldn't be worth the headache. It would have to be the right situation with the right leadership/HC and players. New England. KC with Reid if it wasn't for Alex Smith being there. Or the Ravens with Harbaugh and Ozzie Newsome being one of the best head coach/GM tandems in the league. Supposedly he was going to receive an offer from Baltimore but his girlfriend went and posted a dumbass tweet so the team pulled their future offer. According to Ray Lewis anyway who I feel has no reason to lie.

Lastly, we also truly don't know is if he's received offers and simply turned them down because they were only for backup roles or a contract that didn't meet his financial expectations. We just don't know and for certain people to be critical of teams and their owners, accusing them of racism, given this, is simply irresponsible and wrong.

i dont know anything about footbal, but looking from the outside in. with the news coverage sometimes i get the feeling kape is the lebron of the nfl. but nobody will sign him because muh racism

Kap did not complain but just because other people have seen an Injustice does not mean they can not give their opinions on it.

It's so interesting debate. Is he good enough to be in the NFL? If the answer is yes than why isn't he? Because owners are racist or they care more about money than making the world a better place. To me it's the second one. I find many people are like you in that regard.

The cause he is sticking up for is a well proven fact with plenty of research and data to back it up. I'm glad we have American heroes, willing to sacrifice their career and money to make the world a better place by peacefully bringing attention to a worthy cause. I'm glad he did it in a respectful way as well. What more could you ask if someone? Well, besides giving up on their morals because of pressure.

At the risk of repeating myself, the shirt Kaepernick wore was not a Castro shirt or a shirt celebrating the life and career of Castro. It was a Malcolm X meets with Castro in Harlem shirt.

The meeting was in 1960, shortly after the Cuban revolution and before Castro went on to commit the worst of his crimes. At the meeting Castro spoke out against black oppression, this was four years before the Civil Rights Act and still a year before the last documented lynching in the United States, so it should be easy to understand why he was warmly received in Harlem and why the meeting with Malcolm X is still seen as iconic to many in the black community. It had nothing to do with communism. Castro didn’t declare himself a Marxist/Leninist until more that a year later in December 1961.

Kaepernick understood the story behind the meeting depicted on his shirt much better than those who keep repeating the stupid canard that it had anything to do with communism. To Kaepernick the shirt illustrated that more than fifty years ago Malcolm X was inviting foreign leaders to Harlem to speak out against black oppression and yet it still continues, to the extent that he wanted to do his own small part by sitting down while others stand.

Many of these players have been active off the field. Visiting schools, donating money, personal interviews, soup kitchens, clothing drives, scholarship funds... I hardly call that doing nothing.

I know for sure the one next to Melania isn't. Trump ended up putting his hand over his heart after Melania nudged him. I don't think the other one is photo shopped either, but I'm not sure of the context. The photographer may have just caught him before he figured out that everybody else had their hand over their heart and then followed suit.

There was another incident at the Gerald Ford commissioning that he again didn't put his hand over his heart, so I doubt the one picture is photo shopped, as he seems to have done this several times.
