What's new

Jazz vs Maccabi tonight at 7 PM MST

Cy, yes really. Rubio hasn't hit a shot in 2 preseason games, not a single one. his assist to turnover ratio over the two games is 9 to 7 whilst Dante's is 9 to 1. Ricky has played good D sure, but so has Dante. It's clear that X has played better in these 2 games at least. Whether this continues when the season starts is the big question.

I know we don't wanna come down on our new boy Ricky Rubio, but let's call it what it is.

I would much rather go off of years of NBA regular season evidence than 2 preseason games when evaluating Rubio. I think by mid-season many of you will be feeling much more positive about him.

I don't think there is hate at all, I think a few people sre just calling Cy out for tslking ****. Of course Rubio will be better.

That's not the impression I'm getting. Some people seem to seriously think Rubio is going to be crap or something, which is absurd.

Imagine how bad it's going to be when the homers end up being right and Dante turns into a really good player. That's going to suck for the Exum police who constantly search for any positive comment to rebuke.

Not really. They'll just do what they've always done and shut up when he plays well while getting loud when he plays poorly. He's not always going to look great, and when he doesn't, they will be here to let us all know.

I think a lot of this ambivalence about Rubio is related to Dante. I think he's showing signs that in two years when Rubio's contract ends, he could be the better player. And I don't think there's any question in my mind, that if his develop continues as might be expected, that DM will definitely be better. So, we may have two guards who can play PG better than Ricky in two years, then what?

One can also stalk the Exum homers and harass them even when they are talking about something that has nothing to do with Exum.

One can do a lot of things.

I'm guessing that you think you have the coolest and most cunning way to deal with ignorance. And have the best way of jumping into the fray in order to make the best points.

Tell me, what's ok to critique about the Jazz organization and JFC these days? I don't want to be out of the loop.

Ahole? All his teammates praise him.

He didn't get along with the Boston dudes all that well... specifically him and Ray Allen. Also Dallas didn't go so well.

Those dudes played in the Israel League, not this team. Ingles played for Maccabi Tel Aviv. Jazz are playing against Maccabi Haifa

It is to bad that it was not Tel Aviv because they are much much better than Haifa. Quite a few recognizable names on Tel Aviv's team.

Guys, it's entirely okay to say that Ricky perhaps played below average. Like it has been suggested, he's been playing Euro and fatigue can play a factor, he also hasn't been with the team for a long time etc.

I'm also pretty sure we all know not to expect much from him in terms of scoring, and we can all give him allowances with regards to that because we knew what we were getting with him, but you would kind of expect for one shot to go in, that's all.

He is our starting point guard without question, and that is obvious at this point. We've also got to realise that if a person says that one of our players played below par, it doesn't necessarily mean that hate is attached to it by any means, at least not from me. In fact I like the acquisition of Ricky.

I just think Dante would've been scolded if he had 6 turnovers and hadn't been able to hit a shot in 2 games, so lets keep the criticisms or praise fair and equal to all Jazz players.

I also feel like maybe Ricky should have been rested yesterday to be nice and fresh for the Pheonix game when we actually play NBA players.

At least he didn't play in the second half I don't think

I think dantes short leash was in part a function of Haywards disdain for mistakes. I think he gets a fair shake and I am finally on board with the Dante Exum is good at basketball group. I just don't know how good or if his health will hold up. I'm excited doe! We got options and not just ****ty ones... really good options.

The way AB has come back so far is also very encouraging and how do you keep him off the floor if he continues this form into the season? We have 6 guards, Ricky, Donovan, Burks, Dante, Hood, Neto. How do you keep all of them happy, especially if most of them are playing really well? I suppose it's a great problem to have.

I'd take it for sure. Long term we'd likely need to alleviate the bottleneck. Competition is really good though... no one can slack.

It's all about technique. No problem with making a point, or even making it several times, but once the horse's head starts to separate from the body, it's a good sign that it's already dead and no longer in need of a beating, let alone slaughtering all the other farm animals just for being witness to the crime.

And yes, I realize how annoying a couple of those guys are when they get going, but there's a point where engaging them over and over accomplishes nothing.

I've been sufficiently impressed by RR. Can't throw it in the ocean, but defense and passing has been solid. I'd be tempted to sit him the rest of pre season though.

'Bout time.

I mostly blame Locke for the whole narrative that Dante was a much worse player than Mack and maybe not an NBA player. He went overboard defending Quin and then it got out of hand the rest of the season. The only time Dante was really that bad was the stretch after he first got DNP'd. It got in his head for a bit then, but after that there was a couple other times when Dante wasn't playing much, and then the Exum homers complained only to be shouted down by people defending Quin. It kinda got swept under the rug by those people that when Dante did get a chance to play, he was playing well, all the way up to and including the playoffs. Neto playing over Dante in the playoffs was over the line.

Not that Mack didn't play well at times, but he was never a no brainer decision over Dante like some people were trying to sell it.

I'd be expecting Neto doesn't play much, and then if they're all playing well one will probably be traded if a good offer comes up.

I think too much is being read into two preseason games against crap teams. Ricky and Rodney will be good come real NBA games, the rest I'm not going to get overly hyped until they play against real NBA defenses.

They've been reduced to a couple. We both know it didn't start at that number. But I'm glad you're over it. Obviously.
