Dante Exum: shoulder injury

Exum was going to explode into a star and get a max contract. Now we will get a huge discount. This is our Steph Curry moment.

The net result is Exum's development is delayed another year, but we keep him on the cheap for another 4 years. From a long term perspective, this isn't a bad thing.

Highly doubt Exum is signing a 4 year deal unless we overpay. He is taking the QO.

That was never happening. I don't think Exum was going to get enough to get a team to bite in RFA. There just isnt enough buyers next year. Exum was always going to get the short end of the stick in negotiations. I think him signing the QO is a near guarantee (unless we do something with Rubio by free agency of 2018).

I think this puts both Mitchell and AB in play for PG minutes unless they sign someone like Deron. Feel very bad for Ex but I really want to see Mitch and AB get more minutes.

I want AB and Mitchell to get plenty of minutes, but neither one is a point guard. Especially with Alec who’s been out so long. I don’t want to just get him back and then force him into a spot like that. I want to give Alec a chance to do what he does best.

Him or Neto. Mitchell did not look good at running the point yesterday.

I'm thinking Rubio sees 33 minutes a night, Neto about 12 with Mitchell running it around 3 minutes a game. On average. Sometimes/Often he won't run it at all but maybe there will be games when he runs it a little or looks good running it and gets about 10 minutes of burn there.

I'm so sorry for the guy, it's a shame that he has to go through yet another big setback in his career. All the best to him in his recovery.

At the end of the day it sucks for Dante but it may be blessing in disguise for the Jazz. If they still see Dante as part of the team in the future they will secure him long term for cheap. Nobody will invest huge money in a backup PG who missed 2 ( if reports are true ) from 4 seasons and in even in those 2 seasons he was quite mediocre. If Rubio plays well and develops great chemistry with Gobert Jazz risk nothing by letting Dante go.
Certainly not the end of the world like some of you are painting it here.

You don't seem to get it. It may not be the end of the world for the Jazz -- but it could be for Dante.

He is still getting paid more than most of us will ever make in our lifetime. So doubt it is the end of the world for him either.

Here is a desperate homer take...

But surely they should sit it out for 6 weeks and see what it looks like then.
Being out for 5 months in 6 weeks time is the same difference.

Obviously if the medical opinions are there is no chance of full recovery without surgery then sure. But **** this for a joke. A whole 12 months out effectively cause of an injury to a non shooting shoulder

I'm almost at the point where I want to wish ill fortune on TJ Warren.

What a ****ty, dumb ****ing play by someone who already has a secure role on his team-- in the ****ing preseason.

This is nothing short of enraging for Dante. I am so insanely bummed for him.

I just barely saw the play for the first time and you took the words right out of my mouth!

A non-televised preseason game. This game didn't even need to be played. Very frustrating that these meaningless games can result in season ending injury.
