Dante Exum: shoulder injury

Love. You think these guys just play for money? Sure that's a big part but they wouldn't have gotten as far as they have, at least most of them, unless they had a true love for the game. It's like his life's dream being torn away from him.

Dude, seriously it is not career ending injury. Would be different if he would have lost his arm in car accident. NBA is full of examples of people coming back from way more serious injuries.

I'm almost at the point where I want to wish ill fortune on TJ Warren.

What a ****ty, dumb ****ing play by someone who already has a secure role on his team-- in the ****ing preseason.

This is nothing short of enraging for Dante. I am so insanely bummed for him.

I almost joined twitter last night just so I could call that dirty useless fat **** out!

You have no empathy and have no idea apparently what it's like to face this kind of adversity -- two very serious injuries already in his career. If I were him I'd be doubting whether my body can take the rigors of the NBA. It's got to be very frustrating.

Making millions at his age playing a game is not an adversity - it is a blessing which only few people are gifted with. Injuries are part of the sports. If his body can't survive in NBA he will still make a nice living playing in Europe, Australia or China. And yes, I do not have much empathy for professional players after injuries - they are paid well for doing it and have the best medical care available in the world... It's not like firefighter saving somebody's life got burned or cop got shot while defending somebody from some criminal - that is worth way more empathy then a multimilioner kid getting injured playing a game. If anything I have more empathy for Jazz organization as they are not getting good return on their investment.
Would you feel much empathy for Justin Bieber if he would have strained his vocal cords during one of his shows and could not sing for 6 month?

And what if Mitchell proves to be the second coming of Damian Lillard, which I think is a possibility. Then what? Let's hope the injury doesn't require surgery and Dante can be back by mid-season.

Pump the brakes a little on the Dame comparisons man. Vastly different games and players. Mitchell is far more Avery Bradley than he is Dame.

Are you ****ing kidding me? There is millions of people in the world who would gladly trade their kidney or other vital organ just to be in position Dante is right now. Some people worked their assess off all life and never make that kind of money and they die from cancer or some other stupid **** before they can even enjoy retirement and you guys crying about stupid shoulder separation!!! We talking about young millionaire kid who just suffered a separated shoulder. It's not career ending injury, nobody is amputating his arm. He will be just fine - he won't need to wait 1 year for surgery like us here in Canada lol, Jazz will get him to the best surgeons possible in no time. Stop being ****ing dramatic ******* and cry about it. Kanter's shoulder was dislocated ( more serious injury) and he is doing just fine. Dante will be ok.

I don't know how much you know about shoulders, but I have always thought and read that AC separations are far more dangerous nowadays than a dislocation. In fact, some players with dislocations come back same game and play after a dislocation. Not the same joint, but remember when Wade dislocated Rondo's elbow in the finals, and Rondo was only out for like 5 minutes?

Hate to say it, that was my first reaction. Didn't he sign his extension last week?

Man.....

I disagree with that. Mitchell is much more of a scorer and better at getting to the rim like Lillard. He doesn't have the outside shot like Lillard yet but he is already a better defender.

First of all comparing Dante to Bieber is like comparing Snow White to the Wicked Witch. You don't get it, still. Did you ever have a dream in your life and worked hard for years to realize it? And then have all this misfortune when you're on the brink of achieving it? That's where Dante is now. Sure he's rich but the best things in life are free and money will not bring you happiness.

The only positive side of this injury for the Jazz, is that Dante will have no way to qualify for the starter criteria next summer. This means that his QO will be lower which again makes it less likely for him to take it and gives the team more leverage in extension talks.

You have more empathy for a billion dollar organization than for young men who've spent most of their life sacrificing many things to chase a dream, often enduring many personal and physical hardships in doing so ??
Ok

What kind of contract do you think he gets offered?

I would not be surprised if another team offered Dante a large contract, as it will be the only way to pry him away. I see no positives from this. Hopefully it is less serious than some have speculated.

Normally I would agree but this next offseason the money is much slimmer than usual. Teams with cap space are in a great position, it would be insane for a team to take such a huge risk.

I don't think people understand this. The huge offers to mediocre players are not happening next year. Exum and Hood won't get the max offers because there are only a few teams with space.
